[Archived] Avoid Bolton Town Centre At All Costs Tomorrow

Recommended Posts

Tommorrow saturday, 20th March, 2010, sees what could be two very explosive marches taking place in Boltons town centre.

The English Defence League, EDL, march at midday, with the United Against Facism UAF also marching in the town centre. Many shops will be closed for business and the police have advised any non white staff not to enter into the town centre for fear of violence.

That should not be happening. They are creating a division in the community that should not be there, and by doing so handing the looneys some kind of victory.

Agree with you, how bad has it become when people can't go into a town centre on a Saturday daytime for the fear of getting hurt.

EDL have marches all over the place. there hasn't been a single report of violence, so why the sudden fear?

Dazmaz ask yourself, would it be in anyones interest to report the looting, the violence, the unruly behaviour ?

"Today in Bolton we have seen some small evidence of this protest in the form of flag waving and vitriolic name calling - but we have also seen groups of people, predominantly associated with the UAF, engaging in violent confrontation. "It is clear to me that a large number have attended today with the sole intention of committing disorder and their actions have been wholly unacceptable. Turning their anger onto police officers they acted with, at times, extreme violence and their actions led to injuries to police officers, protestors and members of the public

UAF the trouble makers

My Mum went down to watch it and she loved it. She's 61 and I was worried about her being pushed over and getting hurt. I thought she was mad, I wish I'd gone to watch it now. We had emails sent out at work warning us about the dangers, my Mum said she didn't see any violence from the EDL, she said they were waving flags and singing Land of Hope and Glory. There were a lot of rumours on Friday night about attacks on Mosques in the area but nothing has been confirmed on the Bolton News website. If the reports about the arrests are true, UAF - SHAME ON YOU!

UAF are the thugs! FACT! I cannot stand them, middle class do gooders!

EDL - many members are black, they are not a racist movement but no doubt it may surface from time to time with the type of people it attracts.

It is only a matter of time before they plan a march in Blackburn!

A lot of mis-information here.

EDL demonstrations are organised by far right boneheads as these articles show http://www.hopenothate.org.uk/features/English-Defence-League-cracks-begin-to-show.php

http://www.hopenothate.org.uk/features/Businessman-bankrolls-street-army.php

What a lovely bunch.

Could you post some piccy's of the UAF as well Paul? They must a right set of evil bstards if 4 times as many of them got arrested as the other lot!

After all you wouldn't want to be accused of mis-informing us would you?

Truth is the bloody lot of em are stupid pratts.

Supporters of UAF Ugh..... I think I prefer the first lot. Much less prone to violence and breach of the peace.

Completely agree Drog. It's easy to report these things to whatever agenda you have; almost impossible to get something completely balanced.

Exactly....

As for being Racist - why was it that when the EDL men with balaclavas on, took them off, they were infact Black - why would they be with a racist party?!

Because if you don't dislike black people you aren't racist?

As someone on the left of politics, i hate the way Unite Against Facism work. Free speech is the most precious thing in civil society and so is the right to protest. UAF seem to be trying to goad the EDL into becoming violent (and with some success) to try and portray them as some kind of brownshirt neo nazi orgnaization.

Their behaviour when Nick griffin was on QTime was disgraceful, he had as much right to appear on that program as the others on the panel. We might not all agree with him but to quote Voltaire 'I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it'

What REALLY annoys me is that the EDL want to peacefully protest and are being pretty much attacked by UAF and hence peaceful protest decends into near anarchy

If people want to protest against Islam, a tolerant religion that has been hijacked by some idiots then so be it. But to try and stop someone protesting JUST because you disagree with them is wrong

This said, in the coming months most of the EDL will be outed as BNP acitivsts, many of their organizers have been identified as being part of the BNP party machine
