There was no doubt about it, ball handled out of area, wrong decision.

Rem it's probable that the linesman wouldn't have been able to see it and also that at the end of the day it could only have resulted in a direct free kick from a difficult angle.

Well there cannot be any claims from the dingles that "the gap is closing" after that perfunctory win for the Rovers. That was altogether so easy- the dingles just weren't in it and did not compete for the most part. The only serious risk was we would ease off too much towards the end.

Woeful as the dingles were, the pitch at t'Turf is a disgrace whilst the Ref put in an utterly abysmal performance even by Mike Dean's rubbish standards. The ref made so many mistakes that the only meaningful statistic to take from this one is that Rovers won.

Brown is an awfully suspect keeper yet the dingles did nothing to test him- that is how bad their performance was. Nugent looked as big an embarrassment as a holder of an England cap as Michael Rickets was and the rest of the Burnley side scarcely mustered a single half-decent performance between them.

Salgado, Samba, Jones (again) and Givet were completely competent; Nzonzi had a stormer. The dingles couldn't exploit Diouf's return to running in treacle nor Dunn's fade out whilst MGP looked flaky again but faced no concerted physical pressure. They made Jason Roberts look consistently dangerous- 'nuff said...

Olsson has become a revelation but needs to cut out the diving in the box (tee hee)- he took the disallowed goal superbly and how much difference would that have made to his subsequent efforts had it correctly been allowed to stand?

Di Santo finally convinced me he is unlikely to make the grade whilst Bert looked ominously poor again.

Above all else, that game was about the dingles letting down themselves, their supporters and the Rovers/Burnley fixture very badly indeed. They have now lost four on the bounce- Wolves, Pompey, Wigan and us from which they had to be picking 6 points at the bare minimum to stand any chance of staying up. They are gonners and are not raising a whimper on their return to the depths.

On that performance, they won't even be competitive in the Coca Cola next season. 31 years without a goal against the Rovers at the Turf and counting, and counting....

Yeah, the linesman wouldn't have seen it, but I can remember where the ref was stood.

But agreed, the consequence of not giving it was really not very much. The dingles would've made a hash of it.

Well said Phillip, the only time they looked dangerous is when nzonzi did a poor back pass.well they at least have Irvine & Lockhead to bull*hit them into believing they had all the play :lol:Very poor from Burnley,i dont fancy their run in either.cant see them winning three.Goodbye Burnley thanks for the six easy points.

We're having a party when Burnley go down!!!!

Just back, great day out, crap game but who cares.

- Olsson went down easy but not sure personally that it was a full on dive as such and Jensen did touch him on his way down(disagree as much as you like I couldn't give a toss it's just my opinion). Never a penalty but I'm still astonished he didn't send anyone off once he gave it though.

- his goal was onside so should have stood anyway

- On Olsson I thought he was superb throughout fully deserved a goal, he's a good un for sure

- Givet, Jones and Samba were also solid

- Say what you like about Brown, we havn't lost since he came in, again he took a calculated risk and it paid off for us (even if he got it wrong, not seen it yet)

- I thought Roberts did well and Sam was right to start him

- Dunny was poor but scored the vital goal so who cares, Emo was also poor when he came on

Gotta say I thought the Police were superb, good decision letting people take beer into the stands as it was pretty horrific on the concourse.

We still have our share of numpties, the toilets were smashed up and some pricks in front of me were ripping seats us to throw at the inbreds.

Ultimately I don't think winning 3 is likely to be enough anyway.

Just watched it back, Brown was borderline, a free kick and no card at most. I think Dean didn't give it as it could have been a shove by Nugent so he just let the play go on.

Great atmosphere today, the Rovers two thirds of the Cricket Field Stand was absolutely rocking. It made the trip worthwhile despite the draconian measures having to be taken to keep the day virtually trouble free.

Despite what some on here have said, I think a great deal of credit needs to be given to Jason Roberts, who worked his socks off for the cause. Yes, his touch is not good but he was a handfull for the Beunlah defence. At times, our midfield was so deep, so when the ball was played up to Jason, he literally was on his own. He got a great ovation when he went off.

The defence played well and coped with the little Beunlah had to offer. Olsson had a good game and on another day could have had two or three. The midfield was our weak point. Beunlah raised their game for the first fifteen minutes of the second half and also towards the end of the game. Our midfield regularly failed to find a man in a blue and white shirt and because of that Beunlah found it easy to get forward although their actual goal attempts were few and far between.

Thirty one years and counting and, as is the norm, bragging rights stay with the Rovers and seem destined to do so for some considerable time. A look at Beunlah's remaining fixtures has you wondering where the next point will come from.

As the management and players walked over to the sea of blue and white, minutes after the final whistle, it was great to see Sam with a smile as wide as the rivers Darwen and Blakewater combined.

Great days! :brfc:

In defence of some of our underperformers today - Wednesday's match was tough and some of them were kicked so often that they were probably still sore. Scrappy game, cold and the wind probably didn't help. I thought that if Burnley HAD by any chance scored, we'd probably have come back and got a couple more. It was almost too easy and we didn't really have to raise our game. And Olssen's shot that hit the bar was much further over the line than that Tevez shot a t Ewood. Pity Jim wasn't running the line, or that Russian chap from '66.

Oh and yet another point, the end was one of my favourite moments as a Rovers fan, all the players throwing their shirts in, Phil Jones doing a little jig, Diouffy winding up their fans and someone throwing a banana I think on a Pedersen picking it up taking a bite and throwing it back.

You could tell it really meant something to them to give the fans that win. Even Chimbonda was getting people singing the David Dunn is blue and white song.

Brilliant just brilliant.

Nice to see the smaller BRFCS flag a row or two behind me, I introduced myself to the bloke with it but he had no idea who I was. I think I possibly hugged anyone I saw and knew after the game

Great result! I expected a draw but I can't recall Brown having to make a challenging save at all. The defence was rock solid. Phil Jones is one to watch. Not a pretty game but who gives a monkey's, the win is all we needed to beat those farmers and keep our record in tact.

Our fans were awesome, I believe we were well heard on Sky. I think that puts the 'Burnley are better supported' argument well and truly to bed. They were so subdued when they came to Ewood. Plus they couldn't sell all their tickets :rover:

Absolutely knackered now. I don't blame those who didn't want to go because of the travel arrangements but unfortunately you can't say "I was there"

I wanted to go, had a ticket and couldn't. Don't rub it in.

I finished up with match ball after Chimbonda chucked into the crowd at the end. Must get Dunny to sign it!!!!!

My god, we win 1-0, get bragging rights for another season & all people do is whinge! Enjoy the moment, we're staying up, which is more than the dingles!

Winds me up when idiots post simplistic garbage.

It's possible to rationally discuss the intricacies of a victory whilst remaining happy. It's not whinging, it's just discussing what we think will get us to the next level. The next level, as a result of our very good season, is fighting for Europe.

If we all came on and said 'Yeah great win,' and nothing else it'd be a pretty futile and boring existence an Internet messageboard would have eh?

Given the state of Burnley we'll probably have bragging rights for a decade. The April games since 78 have been lesser affairs with one club down the relegation dumps and today's April fixture was flat for me.

Rovers were sloppy and never had to get out of 1st gear. We can play a lot better and I think if Burnley had scored or put us under pressure we would have put in a lot better performance. However the golden rule in this game. Performance matters zero, losing not an option.

Brown 6

Selgado 5

Samba 7

Jones 7

Ollson 8

Givet 6

Diouf 4

Dunn 6

Pederson 7

Nzonzi 6

Roberts 5

di Santo 6

Emerton 5

Chimbonda 5

Peculiar ratings IMO, I thought Diouf was our best midfielder, and I also thought Salgado had a good game.

Oh and MGP was awful, and a 7 is surely a wind up?

What decisions? I only count the one major decision that went for us which was the iffy looking penalty, not forgetting like as already been mentioned we had a perfectly good goal ruled out from Olsson before that.

The dingles penalty claim was very close as was Brown carrying the ball out of the box. By no means clear cut and could have gone either way really. Likewise the Olsson shot that rattled the bar could have been easily given. Don't think all the decisions went our way like they seem to think on Sky.

Regardless of all that we were the better team on the day and deserved a win.

AGREED!

After mssing the 1st half as I forgot about the clocks going forward, I found the second half tense. I thought Burnley had competed in midfield, but the final ball was poor except for that one chance in the last 5 minutes or so that just evaded the far post. Olsson had plenty of chances and should have got a goal.

Anyway, The Exmouth Arms is the pub to go to down here for Rovers games, and I enjoyed it, despite the long ball game.

Tiring day but well worth it.

The game wasn't great as a spectacle, but there was never any chance of that taking into consideration the pitch. Don't know how that came across on the telly, but getting the ball down and keeping it there was a big problem for both sides. The fact that one team is fighting relegation as well, meant football was at a premium.

Couldn't care less about the ref's decisions because, quite simply, and for the second time this season, we were man for man, better than Burnley. :)

Some clever Rovers fans smashed up the toilets and wrecked a few seats. How clever is that. Then at the end we had 200 fans itching for a fight and their lack of respect was a disgrace. We all have the banter about hating Burnley but the vast majority enjoy working with Burnley fans and having the crack without being disgustingly offensive. And how voyeuristic was it that some 20 of those plastic hooligans were videoing the 'action'. What for?

These knobs have been growing in numbers all season and I know this fixture has always been a 'lads away day' since the 60's but it drags down Rovers good name.
