[Archived] Burnley V Blackburn Rovers

The Dingles are going mental about the police now, they seemed to be baton-happy late on. Suspect the safety officer will get sacked for the beer fiasco. They seem more gutted about our party than anything else.

Listening to Radio Lancs, it sounded as though the police used batons against the few remaining Burnley fans in the cricket stand and who didn't seem to be moving.

It sounded as though they had to leave before the Rovers fans could move out of the ground.

I understand why the Dingles are upset about the decision to allow beer onto the concourse, from a sensible one that I know it was nothing but pure frustration for them coming in and seeing the rovers masses in the stand beers in hand singing away.

However the decision was correct and all respect to whoever made that call, it could have turned really nasty, at one stage there was a woman and kid behind me getting crushed and all the coaches hadnt even arrived, the drama queen in me says someone could have been killed if something had not been done. The stand is simply insufficient for the amount of people inside.

At half time I saw the doors seperating the fans got kicked in and when the police tried seperating the fans some of our own inbred fans decided to aim a chant of 'clumsy, hit shift + 8 again!! off, go and hang yourself' to the police, new depths plundered

Anyone see the skinhead guy with the blue and white painted face, I was amazed he made it through the match, I think I saw him throw both his shoes and his shirt into the crowd

His shoe hit us on the way back!

Along with the back of a seat thrown rather obviously by a chap the other side of the divide - along with all sorts of other stuff. Yet they are getting their pants in a knot over a few beers up before kick off - it all stopped at 11am - and when the bar reopened at half time no one was allowed up with anything.

That is the big thing for them - the idiots trying to 'storm' the police is not their fault!

Great day. Word of praise for the police that organised the escorts to and from t'Turf - thoroughly professional with minimal fuss I thought. Was also good to see a few of them in front of us giggling at some of the songs we were singing.

I'd echo that B4E, the police should be commended for the excellent job they did in the planning preperation and execution of todays game.

But how on earth does that stand pass a safety certificate, theres simply not enough space under the stand to accomodate 2400 people at once ?

My mate got hit in the head with a can, thrown from 1 foot away by the guy in front of him who was launching it backwards

Whilst I'm sure a few seats were liberated as souvenirs, many of the broke simply from people standing on them.

True, I saw quite a few people jumping and stamping on them to break them though

A premier league ground in 2010 with wooden seats is a disgrace anyway

No rain since 8th Jan, 10 minutes into the game a monsoon opens up, satellite signal goes down, message flashes up on the screen, NORMAL SERVICE WILL BE RESUMED SHORTLY, I could not believe what was happening, tears in my eyes, screaming at the gods, how could they forsake me in what was to be our finest hour for years.

5 hail Mary's followed 5 our Fathers.

Praised be the lord. 10 minutes (ish) later.

Prayers heard the screen flashes back into action, all was forgiven as Dunny started his run up for the penalty. (NORMAL SERVICE RESUMED) Not even the Thai's want to miss seeing the dingles pain.

What a prospect we have in Jones, well at least for a few seasons more.

Well done to all those who travelled, fantastic vocal support.

Be thankful. Here in Sydney, no live coverage. They delayed the broadcast until 12:30am so that they could back the Liverpool game straight after it.

Dont know if this has been posted but Alister Campbell has been bigging up the Rovers following at T'urd.

Top showing to all those that went.

Campbells Musings

I also hate to say this, but we lost off the pitch as well as on it. Maybe it was the fact that the Blackburn fans had to be in the away end two hours before kick-off. But they were certainly in good voice. Once they scored, but for a few second-half minutes, our fans never really got going.

And Blackburn won on the wit front too. Chanting our old songs about Owen Coyle. "Brian, Brian give us a wave ... Brian Laws, football genius (or it might have been something else beginning with f)". Not to mention "we're having a party when Burnley go down ... We're having a party when Burnley go down."

That's the one I can't get out of my head.

What a lovely morning. I've been singing all the way to work in Liverpool this morning.

And even better I have the match ball in the boot of my car ready to drop off at the Club later this week with a request to Dunny that he sign it with a message about the dingles!!
