Longsiders - every credit for coming on here after losing to Rovers again.

If you're interested in my views and forgetting the ref's decisions -whatever anyone thought about them, then here goes.

I thought Rovers weren't great, but I do think we were organised and had just that little bit extra in most, if not all positions. We had a bit more experience and a bit more confidence to our play due to recent results. If we had played at the Turf a few months back, it might have been different. The timing of the game made it easier for us.

As for your team, well you needed to win and to be honest, you didn't seem to have the quality, or indeed the nous as to how to score goals. Their was no threat at all from your lads down the middle. Any threat you had, came from out wide and even then, you never really gave either of our full backs a problem - apart from the one cross in the second half which Samba got his foot to.

So, a fairly comfortable win for us I think, but you must be worried about your defence, because a decent side with a decent strike force could have scored a number of goals yesterday. In fact, Rovers could quite easily have scored three goals and we struggle in that department.

Can't say good luck for the remainder of the season, but if you're good enough, you'll stay up. It's a very tall order now and the odds are against you, but you just never know.

Anyway, all credit to you.

That said if you poke a stick into a hornets nest you probably should expect some sort of trouble I guess.

Yes your fellow burnley fans won't be taking on the police anytime soon will they

I would hope not - for me any idiot who choses to kick off deserves what they get - I hear one or 2 Rovers fans got a good kicking from the old bill as well, no idea if its true. All I would say is it does strike me that the Police are increasingly violent in this country with little justification (see G8) and I worry that some are now chosing football grounds as a way to vent their more aggresive tendencies

Agree with all that to be honest - similar situation when Wolves came - they were average, scored 2 easily and won without ever being troubled by us. If it wasn't up for us already then after yesterday it was.

Maybe they don't bother at our place? then again we don't think we can take on the world 70's style do we.

Just a quick question to anybody who might know the answer. We drove home from Ewood yesterday and passed the Rovers team coach travelling north on the M6 just past Tickled Trout with a Police escort. Anyone know where they were going?

Are you sure it was past Tickled Trout? If they were coming off there then they were going to Brockhall would be my guess, but that can't be the best way from Burnley

Best bit were the Dingle mascots (the kids) both were asked who their favourite Burnley players were, one said "I dont know" and the other said "Burnley". Our own little lad put them both to shame with his pre-match antics. If anyone knows that boys father I'd love to buy him a pint, cracking job he's done raising him!

He's got a Facebook group dedicated to him!

Facebook group.

I think Laws did us a favour in taking Alexander off for Eagles I think it was. Alexander was crap but at that stage we couldn't hold the ball, as soon as they went all out attack we had a lot more time and space to compose our own attacks.

For the first 10 minutes or so of the second half we looked guaranteed to conceed and then we looked comfortable, just a shame Olsson couldn't wrap it up.

when I rewatched it on Sky it looked like Niko was sat by himself in the dugout with the rest of the subs together, can anyone confirm?

That's why I said it. I would have expected them to come off there for Brockhall but they were past the junction and going up the hill on the other side with a police range rover in front and another behind. Traffic was slowish going past as a result. We were wondering if they'd used the Marriot just outside Preston or somewhere like that as a pre-match/post-match base. It was unusual and I wonder if anyone on here knows why...

The players stayed overnight at the Marriott near Garstang, I assume they were returning there to collect their cars etc.

It is true that a good number of police do relish the physical side of the job, and enjoy causing pain and distress. I am sure that many have forgotten or choose to ignore that they are public servents and upholders of Law and not in any way Judge or Executioner.

I saw the photos of them wielding batons at the Burnley fans (it was looking as if they were hitting them) and thought it well out of order. The Police are supposed to restore order not make things worse.

What a day out.

Didn't start too well. I woke up at half five thinking that despite the clocks going forward I had synchronised both my mobile and the alarm clock next to the bed. To my horror, one said half five, and the other half six, so I didn't know if I had fifteen minutes or an hour and fifteen minutes left in bed. It was no use looking at my Ipod, as that had leapt an hour forward on Thursday morning. Decided that BBC news 24 would have the right time showing on the screen so made my bleary eyed way down stairs- flicked the light switch and 'pop' the bulb had gone and tripped the electrics. Managed to find a bulb and put that in- only to find out it was a 40 watt bulb and made the room look darker. I was thinking that this might have been an omen for the day to come.

Decent journey across- no traffic on the road- a few one fingered salutes to some Burnley fans on my way through Cliviger. Met up with Tris and his good lady Claire outside the Darwen end and then jumped on the coach that took me halfway home, before taking a left towards t'Turf. Agreed that it was chaos in the concourse beforehand and it was getting pretty scary down there- god knows how people with kids coped.

As for the game itself, not great but the atmosphere was jumping and the songs that the tannoy blared out only served to give us more ammunition to insult our down and out hosts. Glad to say that the journey home was incident free!

Just a quick mention, I thought Givet was outstanding yesterday. 100% committed in everything he did and didn't lose out on a ball all game. Good to see that even though he's only been with the club for just over a year, he knew how much this meant. Did anyone else see him, Diouff and MGP indulge in a quick game of keepy uppy after the final whistle before getting over excited and then running towards the fans to celebrate the victory?

Happy, Happy Days

Yeah, I thought Givet was outstanding and helped Jones out at times too. The keepy-uppy thing was really funny and all of the players who stood and danced in front of the Rovers fans were obviously enjoying every moment. Someone in the disabled area a few rows in front of us got a shirt. The ball went to someone about four or five rows back and over from us too.
