Muddboy Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 What a yawn that was ! We wouldn't have scored if we'd have played until tomorrow. What ever happened to entertainment ? That was garbage. Luckily for us United weren't much better. I'm just glad it didn't cost me £30 plus to watch that tripe. I'm coming over for the Everton game, God make it better than today. Scores- Robbo 6 Didn't have much to do but still worries me too death. Salgado 6 Ran his heart out and gave it a real go, shame we got him 3 years too late. Samba 6 Usual performance from the skipper. Missed him in attack. Jones 6 Very promising performance, he's got a bit of pace and senses danger. Givet 6 Dogged defending, not much going forward. Emerton 4 Shadow of the player he was pre injury. Nzonzi 4 Been a long season for him, he's gone now. Needs resting, he's burnt out. Grella 7 He was our best in midfield, fresh as a daisy, it's the start of the season for him. Pedersen 4 He breaks my heart, shall I get my boots down from the loft ? Is it too late? Ollsen 6 Puts him self about, at least he tries to get forward. Kalinic 6 A real talent if only we could get him some decent service and support. Subs- Nelsen 6 Slotted in like he'd never been away. Diouf 4 Why ? Was Ollsen injured ? Dunn 5 One good run and then - ? Nothing. Got to agree with a lot of this. While a point is very welcome, we were up against a very poor United side - arguably the worst since the early 1990s. We defended well but we were never going to score and our game plan was clearly to park a bus in front of the goal and absorb everything they threw at us. We are lacking a massive creative spark in midfield. While it's good that we're not shipping goals, we're not exactly looking like we're capable of scoring many. I feel so sorry for Kalinic because he ain't going to score many goals for us unless things radically change. As for Dunn, well disappointed by him today. Pathetic. And the same can be said for Pedersen. The sooner we ship him out and move on, the better.

A great effort today, witht fullbacks outstanding and stopping United playing. It was a joy to watch united's season crumble to nought at Ewood.

Without Rooney they havent got a clue! At least last year they were a 2 man team.
cletus Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Hate to say it, but i thought Rovers 'vocal' support was terrible today I probably heard the BBE twice in the first 80mins. In the last few minutes they were great & looked up for it.....but the rest of the game the entire Rovers support was crap (& that includes the Blue Brigade in the JW lower) If we can`t get 'up' for a local derby against Man Ure......when can we? I hate Man Ure & their bandwagon ar5ehole excuse for fans with a vengeance, but they certainly know how to support & get behind their team A great point for Rovers tho!! Hope it`s dented their title hopes.
1864roverite Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 A few cans later and there is still some crud being spouted on here. FFS Rovers took a point off UNITED at home, the second in the leaque and current champions of England, boasting players valued at approx 20 times and more than ours and quarter finalists in the C League. What were some of you expecting ? A Rovers goalfest ? A burnley like opposition ? We battled, we showed guts and determination, we fought, we harried, we worried, we thought football and we played football. Take yourself back 12 months and United came to ewood and won 2-0 without even trying. That is now chelsea, liverpoo and manure all winless at Ewood this season. Still only 2 home defeats all season with 2 games to go and we still have moaners and whingers. Some of you should have a few drinks and lighten up before posting drivel. Come on you mighty Blues
Veevs Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Strange bunch of replies to the match.. I doubt Nzonzi/grella had more orders to do much more than get it out of danger ManU team might be the worst for years but they are kind of second in the league atm.. and season wide even without Rooney have done well How can anyone of given a 6 to Salgado, I dont know ran his heart out for a pensioner and showed more heart than 80% of our team Dunn was awful according to a couple.. but match changed a bit for us when he came on I do agree with some though: Peders was useless.. I think he has given up on rovers and looking for a nice little pay day Emerton also has lost his concentration.. would not be surprised if he is good friends with peders Jones will become a god of football, would not be surprised at an early bid this summer from a so called top team. Overall: Like a few said we went up against an excellent defense... with one man pretty much playing solo up front all game... but we stopped two forwards alone who cost more than our entire team.. Sam: I just reckon we got the nullify tactics right and did a solid job, sad that we didn't have the spark to break them but 0-0 v a top 2 team is nothing to be ashamed off. Interesting part: Could our training system be working better now for youngsters there are a few now coming through and well not doing badly to say the least (Nzonzi, Olsson, Jones.. et al)
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 What were some of you expecting ? A Rovers goalfest ? A burnley like opposition ? Champange tastes on Beer money.

Diouf 4 Why ? Was Ollsen injured ? Dunn 5 One good run and then - ? Nothing. I honestly can't believe some of your ratings. How you can only give our back four and Robbo 6 each is quite remarkable when you consider the cost of the United team they had out today most notably: Berbatov - £30m Nani - £17m Valencia - £16m We kept thoose three players (£73m woth of talent) relatively quite for the entire game and when they did get a chance Robbo was there to save the day. I'd give the following match rating: Robbo - 8 Salgado - 9 Jones - 8 Samba - 7 Givet - 9 Emerton - 5 Nzonzi - 6 Grella - 7 Pedersen - 5 Kalinic - 6 =============== Nelsen - 6 Diouf - 6 Dunn - 6 Each to their own I guess though, your entitled to your opinion but I think your high on negativity after such a good point against last year's Champions and Champions League finalists. What exactly did you expect from this game?

Bobby G Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 We really have turned it around. No doubt it all started at Aston Villa in the cup semi final, but the season has been salvaged and the ship steadied. We have been playing some good football over the last couple of months but most importantly a sense of pride and confidence has emerged in the team. Im starting to feel like we wont lose before games, something I hadnt felt since Hughes left. I feel Sam has done a more than excellent job and he has won me over, having lost me a few months ago. Give him a bit of money in the summer for Gods sake. PS. Phil Jones, finally a local lad to come through who can go a long way.

1864roverite Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 And we all know about guys who love chasing oval or egg shaped balls
RovertheHill Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 I've not been on here for a while and I wonder why my mood had improved. Really enjoyed today at Ewood and then I come on here and read some of the b*ll*cks posted and wonder why I bothered. Some facts. Whether they are the worst Utd team for years or not, they are the champions and are currently second in the league and were a midges away from ANOTHER Champions League semi-final. Why can you not be happy that for the most part we matched them. And I thought the atmosphere was great. Certainly was where I was sitting. Especially the HANDBALL chants which well and truly shut the scum up. Frankly I don't know why some of you bother. Spend your hard-earned money on something else if it's that sh*t

sambo Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 This board can be a joke. Today was a fantastic draw against a very good side, breaking them down was always going to be difficult with pretty much their first choice defence, so getting a clean sheet was fantastic. Worst United team in years? Remember between 04 and 06? That team was shocking compared to this. Didn't they have effin O'Shea in midfield at one point? Get a grip. People are saying "oh they had no Rooney". And? We kept a clean sheet. Couldn't have done much better there. Rio and Vidic were solid and hard to break down.

My brother couldn't go today but a utd. fan got his ticket and had a smile on his face a few times with some of the chants from the BBE. The HANDBALL, and the HE’S ON HIS ARSE AGAIN, renditions. Who should be the most disappointed with the result us or moan u.Great result for us.
Kelbo Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 The essence of todays performance was a disciplined and hard working team, who pressed the ball well and defended superbly, possibly a little too deep at times but every one of the team defended well, each time possession changed, I looked at the shape and we were in two solid banks of four, brilliant, thats how you build a team, from the back. We are short in midfield and really need a good creative player and a proven goalscorer, then we are not too wide of the mark, Olsen is giving us lots of width now and if we get a proven goalscorer or a creater of goals (Kalinic will score goals) we will push on a bit. About the work ethic, Barcelona for all their quality, worked their ###### off, without that work ethic, Messi wouldnt have the opportunity to play. What Sam seems to be creating is a spirit and togetherness and he deserves so much credit for the job he has done with so little resources.
BigUts Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Good point against a good side. As some have said it is a poor team by Man Utd standards, but they are still miles ahead of us and much of the Premier League. As others have said, the same team smashed Bolton a couple of weeks ago, and all but for their previous 2 games looked well on course for the League Cup, Champions League and Premier League treble. It's getting a bit depressing reading this forum at the moment, it seems some people are hell bent on poor reviews and slating individuals. Been a good season this year, and enjoy what's left of it! Look forward to transfer talk and the impending World Cup. I've not walked out of a football ground so happy so many times in a season.
mode_m Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Excellent outcome from today. Overall this season has been positive, the team seems to be taking shape under Sam now that he has had some time. Three out of the remaining four games will be tough with Everton and Aston Villa playing well and Arsenal still fighting for top spot but let's just enjoy this draw for a bit.
JAL Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 We are looking good for next season ...well done Rovers. The result was no fluke, and it showed the squad to be a stronger squad than one or two of us might have initially thought. The young lads Olsson, Jones, NZonzi and Kalinic have been so positive for the team along with the veteran Salgado - class! If big Sam can improve the squad further come this summer then the plaudits will most definitely come as the results will show that Blackburn Rovers once again mean business in the premiership.
AggyBlue Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 If big Sam can improve the squad further come this summer then the plaudits will most definitely come as the results will show that Blackburn Rovers once again mean business in the premiership. The foundations have been layed. Next season we start to build upwards.

Spend your hard-earned money on something else if it's that sh*t Can I second that Amen brother!! SPOT ON. Put simply, they are 2nd and were nearly in the Champions League Semi's, so they are a top 16 side in the whole of Europe (At worst) We matched them and shut them out How much Did Berbotoss cost compared to our ENTIRE squad, correct, we would have ample change left! FFS Will the Moaners GET A GRIP and F*** off and support a massive club like Spurs or Villa and moan at their managers instead and do the rest of us (Those that have our feet on this earth) a favour. Well done Big Sam and well done the team, lot's of effort by each and every one of our players today.
47er Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Another great result at Fortress Ewood. If somebody had offered me a 0-0 at the start of the day I would have snapped their hands off, so no complaints from me. So much far Sam doing Fergie a favour, eh Waggy? Unless Fergie had the game down for a draw on his coupon On another note, can't believe there are negative posts on this thread from any Rovers supporter. What the hell do they want? A real battling performance from a committed side. Can't help reflecting that team morale is sky-high now that Benni Mc Donald has gone.Everyone knows we need to improve in key areas so even more praiseworthy that we came out of this game with another point. Remember a while ago when some on here were telling us that we were in a false position because our run-in was so tough? And how they couldn't see us getting another point etc etc? Patience is required while the team is rebuilt, we can't rebuild overnight like Spurs have. But thanks to the manager bringing on the young talent we don't have to spend nearly as much as it was thought. Just 2 or 3 of the right players and we are a real force again.

F*** very much off please.
