Ninjathunder Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Back from Fleetwood. One of those pre-season games where you learn very little, except that Fleetwood Town has excellent facilities for a club of their level (including a bar that would shame many clubs at a higher level) and that we have some real idiots for fans. Still don't know what was going on with this two game stuff??!! Oh and we won 2-0 by the way. I beginning to wonder in this alcohol fog whether this game really took place, given everyone's posting about some game in Southport....

brfcshabba Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 "Small town in Burnley" "Bus Stop in Cleveleys" Defence looked solid, though Gunning looked good at left back. Midfield of N'Zonzi and Andrews went AWOL in the second half. Grass was a wee bit long and a couple of times Hoilett tried to run with the ball but the ball stuck in the pitch. Also has Roberts eaten Benni?

Also has Roberts eaten Benni? Roberts looked massive, but not as big as their nbr 5!! Gunning wasn't left back - we played 3-5-2 and he was the left sided centre back, Hanley central and Jones on the right. Ramm and Olsson were wing backs. Thought they all did well. Hoilett still doesn't have any nous at all when playing a final ball, Andrews looked average - even against conference players, Roberts lumbered around, Blackman go into some good positions, had some good chances and fluffed them all. Disappointed we didn't get to see Rodrigo Branco - I'm a big fan of Brazilians. And .... if this was billed as the First team game, why were at least an equal number of them in Southport playing a match that wasn't really publicised??
Clitherover Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Now that would be just gob smacking if Rigters suddenly started to perform, after all this time. Then he woke up, new it had to be. Pigs flying in east lancashire at this time of the year?... never.
Clitherover Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 "Bus Stop in Cleveleys" Whoever thought of that deserves a knighthood.

( I didn't go)
67splitscreen Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Has noone got a vid of Dunn's 45 yrd volley. That's what has been reported on 365.
Majiball Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Andrews looked average - even against conference players
AggyBlue Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010   I thought Keef had found his level but in hindsight he still would have been the worst player if he had been in the red of Fleetwood
Majiball Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 I thought Keef had found his level but in hindsight he still would have been the worst player if he had been in the red of Fleetwood I'm hoping Woy still sees something in and takes him to liverpool as Gerrards replacement.
Ninjathunder Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Not disagreeing, just wondering what made you say that? ( I didn't go) About to reply then and what I wrote vanished. In a local pub there was a group of 'old school' fans smoking and the landlord was powerless to do anything. He was clearly furious but the atmosphere was intimidatory - not good natured banter. The really shameful thing was that these were blokes who really were old enough to know better - not the stupid kids you get at games like Bolton last season but men in their late 30s and 40s. It's crap that we had great hospitality from Fleetwood Town but the abiding memories for some people in FLeetwood will be that we are a bunch of numpties.
sibbald Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 People from Fleetwood would have found that normal! I don't get that bus stop in Cleveleys chant?
brfcshabba Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 People from Fleetwood would have found that normal! I don't get that bus stop in Cleveleys chant? Fleetwood fans were chanting "You're just a small town in Burnley". The Rovers fans responded with "You're just a bus stop in Cleveleys"
wilyrover Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 At leart the 50 or so of us at Southport were a credit to the club.
Iceman Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Roberts looked massive, but not as big as their nbr 5!! And .... if this was billed as the First team game, why were at least an equal number of them in Southport playing a match that wasn't really publicised?? is this a Rovers thing, because Roberts, Kalinic also gets themselves into good scoring positions, and then fluffs them. I dont want to criticise Niko too much, but Roberts we know he is prone to those misses.
