Hughesy Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Not O'Neill - Villa have failed again considering their potential higher finish which they blew again! 2 Wembley appearances isn't bad but they have spent plenty of cash too! I'd go with Either Hodgson for Europe or McLeish considering it's their 1st prem season, with Harry 3rd.
JAL Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Only if, Fulham win the Europa cup, then its Woy, and they have to win it for Woy to win manager of the year. The favourite though has to be if Chelsea do the double Carlos Ancelotti for the manger of the year 2009/10 .
Steve Moss Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Sam as a first choice. What he's done on a limited (negative) budget, a real chance for 10th, an enviable home record and his development of youth, is exceptional. Second place is Hodgson. Fulham fans have to be very pleased with their manager. I can't stand Redknapp and, considering the shambles he leaves most clubs in, I hope they don't give him the award.
American Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 You are kidding, paper squad better then pretty much everyone above them...... Rafa goes down as the worst manager of the season If we take into consideration Europe and Cups....Woy, Redknapp, McLeish, O'Neill, Allardyce, Ancelotti, Mancini If we don't.....Redknapp, McLeish, O'Neill, Allardyce, Woy, Ancelotti, Mancini Mancini, really? Even before last night he hadn't been setting the world on fire and was doing no better than Hughes.
Amo Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Based on domestic success ONLY, how can Hodgson win? Big Sam could deserve that accolade ahead of Hogdson, taking relegation certainties last season into the top 10.
Pedderz0912 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I would go with: 1) Roy Hodgeson (If fulham win the Uefa - If not he 3rd) 2) Carlo Ancelotti (Even if they do the double and Fulham win Uefa cup) 3) Harry reknapp (Remarkable achievement and would overtake Carlo into 2nd if Chelsea don't do the double and would overtake Roy aswell if Fulham fail in Final) *Allardyce & Mcleash also deserve a mention and Moyes to an extent - Fantastic season So in conclusion its still pretty much in the balance.
American Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 No love for Ferguson? Loses one of the top players in the world and still in contention for the title? Heck, some people (ok, person) said that City were their rivals for 4th place this season.
92er Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 No love for Ferguson? Loses one of the top players in the world and still in contention for the title? Heck, some people (ok, person) said that City were their rivals for 4th place this season. His failure to replace Ronaldo is a clear indictemnt of his policy; the fact that he could still win it on the last day is an even clearer indictment of his rivals. This was a season when some other clubs should have been well out of sight of MU by this stage. The irony for me is that, if Chelsea win it on Sunday, Ferguson will look back with real anguish at lost points at Burnley, and at Ewood. I would just find it hilarious.
tcj_jones Posted May 6, 2010 Author Posted May 6, 2010 Redknapp's done very well, but let's not get carried away. Look at the money that has been invested in that team both before Harry came and during his tenure. We're talking massive money. That squad is the fourth best in the league and I bet the wage bill is within the top six.
Balwer Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Just as a reference point, the only time that it hasn't been won by whoever won the league was when George Burley got Ipswich up to 5th in 01 and into Europe. My personal opinion, based on the League alone, is that McLeish should get it, ahead of Redknapp then Allardyce. If all English competitions are included then: Ancelotti O'Neill Redknapp If all competitions including Europe then: Ancelotti Hodgson O'Neill This assumes that Chelsea do the double and Fulham wins Europa.

If money is all it takes then Newcastle wouldn't have gone down.

I am a bit confused that O'Neill is in there. I think they have had an average season. I would go for Redknapp, Ancelotti, Hodgson, much as I hate Spurs. To come fourth is a great effort with the competition around them.

That's all true, and I agree that he has done a very good job. However, I can't call it incredible because he has IMO, the fourth best squad in the league. Similarly, if one of United or Chelsea won the league, then I couldn't call it an incredible job unless they absolutely walked it and did it in style. Hogdson, MCcleish and O'Neill have, IMO, all done equal or better jobs in their respective positions.
neekoy Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Mancini, really? Even before last night he hadn't been setting the world on fire and was doing no better than Hughes. Well I did have him 7th, he really didn't have muhc of a transfer window in January to work with, new manager coming into, whilst talented, still needed to gel. They should have finished fourth but 5th place and looking to invest heavily with his own team, I think a top 2 finish is not out of the question. I have always rated him though and wanted him here, maybe he will turn into another Benitez, I don't know.
