RoyRover Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Without doubt one of the happiest moments of my life!
snatchymcsnatch Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 What a day, what memories and what a man. Thanks for everything Jack. Death is nothing at all I have only slipped away into the next room I am I and you are you Whatever we were to each other That we are still Call me by my old familiar name Speak to me in the easy way you always used Put no difference into your tone Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow Laugh as we always laughed At the little jokes we always enjoyed together Play, smile, think of me, pray for me Let my name be ever the household word that it always was Let it be spoken without effort Without the ghost of a shadow in it Life means all that it ever meant It is the same as it ever was There is absolute unbroken continuity What is death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind Because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you for an interval Somewhere very near Just around the corner All is well. Nothing is past; nothing is lost One brief moment and all will be as it was before How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
Hughesy Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 Thought it would be a nice way to make people smile on a friday.... A couple more memories from that day
Ozz Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 TP goes Old Skool/Nu Skool with his polo shirt tucked into his trackies.
Guest Kamy100 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Happy days, i'll never forget that afternoon at Anfield, was simply amazing. Going to watch the season review DVD tonight.
Hughesy Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 Rovers should bring out that blue n white tracksuit again!!
Aberdeen Blue Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Oh my, what memories just came flooding back I do not know which poetic genius wrote this, but it just about sums it all up for me: I have never written a poem before, I don’t see any point in rhyme. It never appeals to us working class it's just a waste of time. Well now is a bit different I need to tell you how I feel and in some small way pay a tribute to the Blackburn man of steel. Its vital not to miss the point, football is not a bit of fun. Its pride and passion, skill and strength all rolled into one. It’s not about Man Utd., Chelsea or some foreign fancy Dan Its Blackburn, Preston & Burnley that’s were it all began. Where what you see is what you get, but don’t show how you feel, but I'm making my exception for the Blackburn man of steel. I really need to thank him for the pride he gave us back Just for a while we were the best thanks to Uncle Jack. Few people have the vision to make a dream come true The beauty of Jack Walker's was we got an invite too. Some saw him as a rich old man who bought a winning team But for me they miss the point, he bought us all our dream. I think it's maybe true to say it could not last for ever But then again I'm certain that its better once than never And even if those winning ways never do come back They can’t take away the memories thanks to Uncle Jack. Hendry, Sutton, Batty, Shearer the names roll off the tongue But “there’s only one Jack Walker” is still the Rovers song. So forget the players, agents and smart Armani suits Raise a glass to Uncle Jack a man who knew his Roots. Thanks Jack.
Hughesy Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 Oh my, what memories just came flooding back I do not know which poetic genius wrote this, but it just about sums it all up for me Thats from when he died - it used to be on this site too in the Jack Walker section I think. Fantastic poem - have it on my wall at home!

roversmum Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 That poem should be on the wall in the changing room. Shedding a tear for a wonderful memory and a wonderful man xx
Aberdeen Blue Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Thats from when he died That's when I first remember seeing it. For me it sums up the whole magical journey he took us on. God, I'm going to have to close my office door here; roughty toughty oilmen aren't supposed to cry!
Amo Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 What a monumental and iconic achievement it was by the club. I don't think we'll ever see its like again.
Presty On Tour Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 king kenny's f***ing magic, he wars a magic hat and when he saw the premiership he said i'm having that, i'm having that! i'm having that! i'm having that! i'm having that! ooooooooooooooooooooohhhh!!!! (",)

BPF Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I'll never forget that day. Has a massive effect on me everytime I think of it. Noone will ever do anything to match that, ever again.
Backroom Tom Posted May 14, 2010 Backroom Posted May 14, 2010 What a day but it was all a bit too much for me as a ten year old. With about five minutes left I couldn't bear to watch any more so ran up to my room, minutes later my mum and the people we had around scream as liverpool scored, i started to cry then moments later screams of joy were heard. One image I love is the guy in the crows saying we don't like that word, please don't use it hell then seconds later jumping up and down celebrating, also the players and managements celebrating whilst the game was still ongoing. Still remember the commentators speach when sherwood lifted about now a team with a glittering future. Shame we never pushed on. Legendary moment and one that will be timeless for us all, I feel so priveliged to have lived through it
colin Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 15 years ago, how time flies. I was lucky enough to be at Anfield. They loved us for beating the Red Scum to the title, even though they won 2-1 Ludo Misklosko did a sterling job for West Ham that day & denied The Scum more than a point. /understatement alert/That was a good day./off
1864roverite Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 14th May 1995, what an occasion and I am proud to say I WAS THERE. A fantastic day for all Rovers fans and for those lucky to be in Anfield a day never to be forgotten. "I WILL SAY IT AGAIN, BLACKBURN ROVERS ARE THE CHAMPIONS". Thanks Jack, your a legend.
rover the hill Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Memories of the day: Arriving far too early as felt sick; having a 12 year old Liverpool fan say to me: "Come on Rovers, let's f@@k deeze mancs"; Stewards informing us the result was fixed in our favour; being too nervous to watch the second half and staring at a bloke behind me who was listening to the radio through earphones, praying he didn't open his mouth as it was bound to be a United goal; the euphoria that spread through the away end as the game finished at Upton Park and realisation set in that we had done it; the crowd screaming as one to Tim Flowers that it was all over before Hendry, Shearer et al started celebrating while the game was still going on around them; Sherwood lifting the trophy and the Liverpool fans singing "You'll Never Walk Alone"; the smell of burning brakes as my eagerness to get home and start celebrating nearly got me into a nasty accident!; Rovers fans lining the streets from Brindle onwards and my jaw dropping to the floor watching Match Of The Day in the pub, as Andy Cole missed sitter after sitter and Ludek Miklosko became a Rovers legend without ever playing in a Blue and White (okay, Green!) kit.
