Guest Wen Y Hu Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 The close season transfer window and nicko's eleven o'clockers are well and truly underway, so here is the transfer digest thread for this summer's dealings, starting at page 237 of the Potential Summer Transfers (2010) thread. Please post any transfer-related links in this thread, indicating the source of the story along with the date and, preferably, a brief indication of the nature of the link. As a reminder, this thread is not for discussion or comment: please use the main transfer discussion thread for such purposes. **************** To get the thread underway, here is a digest of the main transfer-related posts by nicko on the Potential Summer Transfers thread covering the period from 14:00 on Wednesday, 2 June up to 14:30 this afternoon (starting at post #4737). Any comments on nicko's posts should be confined to that thread - DO NOT POST THEM HERE! If you can wait until 11pm there will be a bit of news. Is this news specifically related to 'B' level striker targets or can we hope for some encouraging news on preferred targets? One of the B's...no more clues...but if it comes out before 11 I will come back on... The 11 o'clocker fancies an early night, so... PIQUIONNE...Fulham have agreed a fee with Lyon today of around £2 million...and seem happy to pay his wages...so they will get their man...sounds quite cheap to me...but Rovers were not keen to match the salary he wants which is about £40,000-a-week. BOSELLI...Wigan have agreed a fee of around £5.7 million tonight...they clearly fancy him...I hear he is good...possibly a miss by Rovers but out of the price range by the sounds and the Rovers scouts have not scouted him as thoroughly as Wigan...could be a good one. BEATTIE...no word on that one. BENJANI...still hear he is top of the 'cheap striker' list. GUTI...no word, but definitely in the race...and he has not gone to Zenit. Is Benjani still having his medical...?? Benjani is in Zimbabwe.

Guest Wen Y Hu Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Afternoon update #1 of 2 Transfer digest from the Potential Summer Transfers thread covering the period from 14:30 yesterday until its closure around 09:00 today. Note that nicko was active on the thread during this period as per below. Any comments should be confined to the relevant threads - DO NOT POST THEM HERE! **************** Samba nicko's first post here is in response to a rumour circulating on the thread courtesy of a West Ham fan claiming that Chris Samba was a target for his club. From what I have found out today there is absolutely nothing in the Samba to West Ham thing. Hammers don't have the money for the fee Samba would command. And I would really find it unlikely that they could offer him the kind of wages and signing-on fee that would interest him either. Beattie Any news on Beattie? Very unlikely at this stage. No bargain deals to be had at Stoke. Some would say, fortunately. Guti Is there any indicator as to how long this Guti move could take? Id suggest the success of this transfer window largely hangs on whether he arrives as the rest of the players we've been linked with would just add numbers to the squad not add quality. I see Big Sam is back and, judging by his appearance at SoccerAid, moving in the right circles... It's basically up to Guti. Rovers need to get an answer from him, but you can't really give him a deadline as it is obviously an ego-massaging exercise just now. There is no suggestion anywhere else that he has a deal lined up, so the way is still clear. I wonder if Rovers are holding back on this one until they are 100 per cent sure that Grella's deal to Galatasaray is on. That one still needs a medical, which could obviously be an issue if he breaks down during the World Cup finals. [...] Benjani Nicko, is it right that Benjani is a free transfer? Benjani...can't see him walking out on his Man City contract unless he was paid off...and there is no word of that happening.

Any comments should be confined to the relevant threads - DO NOT POST THEM HERE! **************** nicko updates Just a couple of updates. GUTI...His demands are too high, which may explain Sam saying he is 'looking for strikers.' There are talks going on with one agent who is specifically working on this for Rovers - with Guti willing to come if the cash is right. No other clubs are paying the wages he wants either. So this one is still live, but expensive. STRIKERS...A couple of names are buzzing about but would probably have to be watched in pre-season games. It sounds a bit becalmed at the moment, but it's the same everywhere. Seem to remember Dindane was a three horse race at the end, Rovers, Wolves and the Qatar club, Wolves have since signed Fletcher, could be someone totally new of course, even though Nicko is on holiday and probably off the radar on all current goings on, no doubt he will now be some digging. Back in Blighty...I don't believe anything from any of Dindane's camps, but I doubt very much if Rovers are still in that hunt. However a goal or two against Brazil would no doubt change a few opinions. [...]

Bolton have substantial debt , they are a club who could be in serious if they are not careful . We'd all love players like Petrov but hey , you'd end up bankrupting the club like Bolton are doing. Bolton have substantial debt , they are a club who could be in serious if they are not careful . We'd all love players like Petrov but hey , you'd end up bankrupting the club like Bolton are doing. With all due respect that is just nonsense. Bolton have a debt to one man - Eddie Davies - who is quite happy for it to be at that figure. They also have a healthy turnover and a hotel. Petrov's wages are quite high but not ridiculous. Possibly less than a left winger on your own books... The reason Bolton want him is that he is a top player. The reason he wants to go there is because they play football. The Mail Online then reported that both Aston Villa and the Rovers have joined Bolton in offering a contract to Martin Petrov, who is now a free agent. Sam hopes for quick Blackburn Rovers takeover **************** nicko on the takeover There are two 'live' bidders - the Indians and the Thais. It does appear that a bid will be made very shortly and then it will be up to the club to sell. This process is definitely gumming up the transfer works. I have to say there seem to be leaks to suggest that there is some worry about the people involved in the bids and a bit of black propaganda being put out by some...only they know their reasons. This could develop very fast now. It has to, for everybody's sake. Not "three" live bidders, Nicko? Have you never heard of the 'three bidder rule'? I know of two. That does not mean there could not be more. The word is out that this is serious, so perhaps those who have hung around and kicked tyres in the past will emerge. Very interesting times. does this include Shah, Nicko, or are these completely 2 new bidders? The Indian group and the Thai guys are the two I know of who are sniffing around. There are hints that someone else may be lurking. There have been a few hanging about in the last year, so you never know. Just feel that there is someone doing their financials in a quiet sort of way. Intriguing. Hope they get on with it. You have to say Rovers is an attractive buy for someone with money. It's not THAT expensive. You are never going to get rich with it, but it could be a worthwhile exercise if you want it for the right reasons.
