G Somerset Rover
I'm still a little suprised that we haven't tried to cash in on some of our players who played at the World Cup. Thought we may have been able to make it clear that a number of the squad were available and maybe try to push through sales of Jacobsen and even maybe the Admiral. Probably one of the few saleable assets we could cope without. At the end of the day nobodys going to sign Chimbonda so we may have to make a sacrifice and sell one of our better players. Lets start trading! We flogged McCarthy for £2.5 million in January and seem unable to spend any of that money, so I doubt more outgoings would result in Sam being given anymore funds. Especially whilst this takeover rumbles on.
Amo
Sam can't have his own way enough as it is - if we take any more away from him he will be off and who comes in then? Then I'd remind Sam he has three right-backs earning in excess of £4.5m a year, and wonders why he hasn't any cash for a striker. because of John Williams shrewd approach we are no longer dependent on player sales to satisfy the bank Nothing to do with all the star players we've had to cash in over the years? 67splitscreen
Having to re-budget for Salgado, surely tells you who pulls the strings on players coming in. JW just has to get them for as little as possible, when that is not possible they go to Dortmund.
budha
just read on Twitter that "Andranik Teymourian has turned down chance to travel with Rovers to Australia. Other options elsewhere apparently" ... thoughts/comments? ANDRANIK Teymourian has turned down Blackburn Rovers' invitation to travel to Australia with them on trial. The Iranian midfielder had impressed enough over the past week to earn an extended trial with Rovers but has now opted to look elsewhere. As revealed in today's Telegraph, Teymourian's representatives held talks with the club late last night, and these carried on this morning. The Lancashire Telegraph understand Teymourian was only willing to travel to Australia with a firm contract offer from Rovers under his belt. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/blackburnrovers/news/8287335.BREAKING_NEWS__Teymourian_turns_down_offer_to_extend_Rovers_trial/?ref=rss I guess he has more concrete offers elsewhere which he might risk by being on the other side of the globe for a week.. Nothing to do with all the star players we've had to cash in over the years? so the first is sam's fault? and the second is the trust's fault? but yet John Williams gets the blame? take the easy option. this club has a lot to be thankful to John Williams for in recent years!! our premiership status included
AndyNeil
I fail to see how anybody can blame the lack of transfer activity at the feet of John Williams? However if somebody has a proper case to put forward it would be interesting to hear ...

Like I said, too much money squandered on average players. When you're a club with a very limited income, you have to maximize your earnings. How are we supposed to do that when we have so many overpaid players? Apart from his approach to contract negotiations, I believe he's a fine chairman. But no one is above reproach, my friend. But no one is above reproach, my friend. so would you say that he is wrong to price season tickets so cheap? 3rd lowest price in the country? maybe if we put them alongside premiership average! 150 quid more on top would generate in excess of 2.5m extra into the coffers. nobody every criticises this loss of revenue? or do we love john williams for this and criticise him for other things? you are correct in one thing - he is a fine chairman!! the best in the league in my opinion. p.s: i am not in anyway criticising the excellent ST prices, just using it for example that you cannot have it all ways
Billy Castell
Perhaps we should hit every club with a rquest to loan players. Man City have Caciedo and Jo, Man Utd have Wellbeck and that Portuguese lad.....and so on. Those names may not be exciting, but at least they're better than Benjiani. Not that im sad to see Teymourian decide against going to Australia, but its typical Rovers. Remember Annan? I know its not the same, but player impresses on trial, and we dont offer him anything. Whether this is down to having no money, or the takeover, i dont know, but its not looking good right now.

AJW
When do clubs have to declare their 26 players for the season ? i would assume after transfer deadline day ? i bet city have about 40 pro's by the time they finish spending what will happen to all those who arn't in the "final 26"

Oklahoma
The biggest teams in Europe are now selecting their 25 players for the season. Some will be left out and Rovers could take advantage of that. For example, Real Madrid. Drenthe and others might be loaned out or sold for a small value. Benfica already decided that Halliche, Yebda (both played in the WC), Zoro (very close to signing for Rovers a year ago) and Makukula (best striker in Turkey last season) will be sold for a small fee (2 to 3 million€) or loaned out. RoverRich
Anyone know if Rodrigo Branco is going to Australia? Do people that have seen him reckon he is worth the time and effort? If he is young and free he may just be worth a gamble up front especially as we need more strikers anyway. I remember reading he has been given an extended trial so he must have something about him.
