Anyone know if Rodrigo Branco is going to Australia? Do people that have seen him reckon he is worth the time and effort? If he is young and free he may just be worth a gamble up front especially as we need more strikers anyway. I remember reading he has been given an extended trial so he must have something about him.

Looked useful in his cameo on Tuesday night. Why he wasn't given half an hour is beyond me.

Perhaps we should hit every club with a rquest to loan players. Man City have Caciedo

The biggest teams in Europe are now selecting their 25 players for the season. Some will be left out and Rovers could take advantage of that.

For example, Real Madrid. Drenthe and others might be

Makukula (best striker in Turkey last season) will be sold for a small fee (2 to 3 million€) or loaned out.

I'm surprised that there hasn't been more interest in Caciedo. I thought he would have been exactly the type of player that Sam would have been interested in. Sam's usually very good at making good players out of other teams cast offs. I think he would do a very good job for us, with his size, strength and speed.

I'd love to get some of the Real benchwarmers but their wages would be too big. I remember seeing Makukula playing for Benfica a couple of years ago and being very impressed with him. Then I saw him when he played for Bolton and I wasn't so sure!

Elsewhere Robbert Vittek has signed for Ankaragücü permanently from Lille for £1.5 million. He had a very good World Cup for Slovakia and was the kind of player that would have done a good job for us. It goes to show that there are good players out there who can be bought at a reasonable price (they two teams could well have had a set fee arrange before his impressive World Cup).

Marko Pantelic is another player that I've mentioned a few times. The guy is a free agent and looking for a club, because Ajax wouldn't agree to a multi year contract. He's a very good player and a lethal finisher. While Ukraine captain and Bayern Munich player Anatoliy Tymoshchuk has been told that he can leave the club. Would we be able to attract this type of player or would he cost too much? He would add some class to our midfield.

Hardly a blinder. He had scored a lot of goals in the premier league. Hamburg played a blinder with De Jong, £17m for a defensive midfielder that had never played in the PL and only had 6 months left on his contract.

That was hardball

Was De Jong permananently injured too and made a handful of appearences in the entire season? Also after collecting 3 years of similar injury statistics at Bayern making it one effective season out of 5? If so then due respect to Hamburg. If not then it's a toss up.

Don't the Indians see that the longer this is allowed to continue, the weaker the club becomes and therefore the less their investment is worth?

I would imagine that is exactly their intention. Standard horse trading tactic. ;)

Why dosent JW give them a deadline (im sure they already have) of the last date they will continue negotiations till, this way it put pressure on the bidder to make their interest firm and in stead of club dragging things along as a turd.

Salgado mates Raul and Guti would do for me both on a free, then we really can look forward to Europe

Even though both will be on a fortune im sure they could take a pay cut if Salgado can convince them too

Sam could use the £2.5M of the transfer kitty on their wages.

I think the one thing we can take out of the last month or so is that this is a serious bid. If you want this takeover to happen properly then you're going to have to be patient. If this was going to fall down i reckon it would have happened by now.

It is in nobody's interest for this to drag on, so the only conclusion we can come to is that this is a process which has to take this length of time regardless of what we want to happen.

In two years time - we have squandered what transfer kitty we have - and no resale value.

Gotta say - I would agree both players would bring a much needed touch of glamour - and increase our appeal. If we can do it within the current budget - great - and if it is done with the intention of giving young players a bit of time to come through - even better.

It is a real balancing act for Sam and JW - like it or not resale value of players has kept this club afloat over the last few seasons.

The thing is that if we had someone like Raul last year we could have finished 8th or even higher, that itself is another generates a few million in revenue. After all Dunn was our top scorer last year with 6 PL goals, yet we still somehow managed to finish 10th and with the amount of 1 on 1 roberts missed last season it could have been higher.

Im pretty sure he would fancy giving it a shot in the PL rather than germany (Schlake) where hes been taunted to be heading for a few weeks and still yet to go.

This move could further stenghten ties between rovers and Real madrid, as im sure they know Sam very well from his previous dealings with them.

Please, stop dreaming and wake up. We can't afford one of them, let alone two Galacticos. We've barely managed to balance Salgado's wages. Even if the board did somehow stretch the budget for both of them, there would be no profit margin and increased pressure to sell players to accommodate their wages.

Will you call it 'ambition' when we have to sell Olsson/Samba/Jones etc. to keep the Galacticos at the club?

I often read this board in complete sheer disbelief.

People suggesting that we blow our entire budget for a maximum of two years of service. Then in two years, we are expecting to stay in the Premiership on even less money, get real.

Raul + Guti will give us a the promise of Europe? If they are still as good as their glory years, why are they free agents? Why haven't they had several offers from other teams pushing for Europe?

I thank my lucky stars that some of you have no say in what the club does!!!!

I'm going to get you to sign over your house to me by the end of tonight for free...

After all, nothing wrong with a bit of ambition...
