Sorry guys, but imagine that a ball breaks to our striker, or there is a good cross coming in, surely you'd want the striker to have the ability to score? The idea of a Heskey/Roberts partnership is frightening. For me. Strikers do play a role in making space for others, anI agree that Heskey sometimes does that, but don't strikers have to be able to put away chances on occaision?

If we are really looking to pay no more than 2.5m I'd go for Nugent. Young enough still to recapture some form and we'd always get some money back if he didn't. Have been saying this for months but for our sort of money I can't see a better buy.

Heskey and Roberts together doesn't sound nice but I imagine Roberts would leave if we signed a big targetman and then we would use the Roberts money for a third striker with a touch of pace hopefully.

Problem being these elusive strikers are hard to find

We played target man football last season without a target man and did ok, if we had Heskey he certainly can play the lone target man, hold up the ball and win free kicks.

Signing him would'nt be the worst, in saying that I still think its Bumjani.

I had to check the date on that one too... ;)

Rather old.

Chelsea are trying to put him to Feyenoord for some reason.

Bolton want him, Wigan want him...but that Chelsea mob are one strange club.

No contact from Rovers and unlikely to be.

Nicko, is the player on a free transfer if not is the club looking to sell him.

Also, does this mean he can switch his attention to a midifelder

Sorry to spoil your fun Tim :P

I dont think Big sam would sign Di Santo. I think Big Sam options are Marcus Pedersen, Mido, Jelavic, Beattie and Mbonkai(maybe on how much he would cost). Have we got 2.5 million to spend or have the trust put abit more money into the transfer pot i wonder. The board and trust have to back Big Sam judgement on the striker he wants and we have a chance of getting into the top 8 in the league if we do.

No, Mr Shah, it would be a buy...

And there might not be a midfielder if you don't get your takeover done sharpish.

Rovers fan from the Stoke area and currently at the darts in lasherland has texted me from his blackberry stating the player Rovers could be looking at is TUNCAY and not Beattie.

For me a far better option as you know what your getting, a worker with pace who can score goals in the right team.

Not sure he would fit into the cheap bracket though, didnt he go for big money from Boro ?

rovers fan since i was born ok now leave me alone please

Sorry sunshine thats not how it works.... ;) , if you are going to slag somebody off then be prepared to either take the flak or apologise.. B)

On topic,i wonder if the mystery striker could be Sturridge from Chelsea? I can`t really see him breaking into the first team this season but,as was the case with Di Santo last season, the Chelsea hierachy might want to see how he does playing first team footy.Would fit the bill with regards to split opinion as he seems to come across as a `big time charlie`?
