superniko Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Where did you hear it? A friend of mine heard it from his mates dad. Apparently good friends with Big Sam. I can see it being a realistic target, but then again it could easily be a case of Chinese whispers

den Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 why are people on here nasty toward me i done nothing wrong only speaking my mind is that crime There are some nice folk around here ROOSTER. Newbies sometimes don't appreciate that some of them [not me ] can be a bit grumpy - especially when there's not much effort put into their grammar. Just take a bit of time to compose your posts a bit better than the one I'm quoting.
Amo Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Hopefully Heskey wouldn't be the fruit of our labours. We'll need another striker, right? If we signed Heskey for a cut-price, and sold Roberts (along with a couple of others) we could save up for a goal-getter. However, with everything moving at a snail's pace, don't expect that to happen anytime this millennium.

liam Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 well I for one would be happy with heskey, don't think we could expect a lot better, and he's a lot better than what we've got. him and Nicko could be exciting, waiting to be shot down in a blaze of glory!!!!
Backroom Tom Posted July 23, 2010 Backroom Posted July 23, 2010 Out of interest what happened to Andy Johnson, injured again I take it?
insiderover79 Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Hot news for you Big Sam was in a furious rage after the game on Tuesday and offered his resignation unless certain conditions are met. These conditions include funds from whomever is in charge of the club and a guarantee over his personal position in the uncertainty. The manager spoke to several board members before making the offer to leave the club if no assurances were given. This story is live and real. I hope he doesnt leave well certainly not in cloudy situations like these.
insiderover79 Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Evidence? I stand by my comments, after all I am a fan and wont gain anything by stirring a nest up will I
nicko Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Top work by the 'inside' man...so you might as well have an early 11 o'clocker. There has been some real screaming going on - and that is why moves are afoot to land a striker. I understand that Heskey at £2 million is the current hot topic, with Villa willing to sell and the player prepared to move. However there is every reason to believe there are other options being pursued. To be honest, the whole situation with the manager is probably bigger than landing a striker right now. The paper will be running a Heskey tale, but I'm starting to think I should have done it about the manager and his future.

roversfan99 Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Would you say whoever said the deal would be done by tomorrow is stretching it a bit? And any substance to the Caicedo rumours(about him joining and not his remains being eaten by Samba)?
Ricky Posted July 23, 2010 Author Posted July 23, 2010 Happy with heskey nicko. Loving the work by insiderover. Just highlights that there are a few members out there with useful information. Thanks both for the info tonight.

jim mk2 Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 If Allardyce goes that will be relegation for certain and the end of Rovers as a top flight club. No doubt some people on here would be very pleased.
67splitscreen Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Heskey That is depressing news. Rather insignificant in the light of other potential moves.
nicko Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Thanks Nicko I am sure I was really going to be believed lol Credit where it's due... By the way, Heskey is not the worst if the price is right. He could fit ith the way the manager plays. The pressure is on to do a deal for him - or anyone - now as the manager has made it pretty clear what he has is not good enough. Credit there too.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Would you say whoever said the deal would be done by tomorrow is stretching it a bit? And any substance to the Caicedo rumours(about him joining and not his remains being eaten by Samba)? Err...that was a little porkie told by me heh Sorry! Wouldn't mind if it was true though!
Ricky Posted July 23, 2010 Author Posted July 23, 2010 I'm sure some wont be happy with heskey but what other top flight strikers are out there and affordable to us. Capello obviously sees something in him, he's played in the prem for all of his career and would be a good signing for us. I'd be very happy with him coming in, I've been suggesting him for a while now as he fits the target man role perfectly. Just need to hope sam stays and gets his man.
roversfan99 Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 The pressure is on to do a deal for him - or anyone - now as the manager has made it pretty clear what he has is not good enough He should make it clear a 32 year old non scoring striker isnt good enough aswell.
alexanders Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 But Ricky. He is 32 years and quite a rubbish striker?
Tim Southampton Rover Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Nice one insiderover! I'm pleased Big Sam has come out and said something. It's started to get silly, especially with so little time before the season starts. Would Sam have been happy to get Heskey no matter what our financial situation was or is he considered the best of a bad bunch made available on a tight budget? I'm pleased with it. He's hard working, still has some pace and is a handful. Ideal in my opinion especially if he works well with Kalinic.
frosty Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 If we're playing one up front and it's Heskey, we're totally relying on the midfield for goals. Or should I say, Dunn - no other midfielders can score really. Heskey would be decent at best alongisde Kalinic in a pair but I don't want him starting as the lone striker ahead of Kalinic and hindering Kalinic's progress.
