This is what happens when the people who own us feel like they are kings of the world who can do whatever the hell they please without being pressured or questioned. BFS seems to be trying to force some action, but when the people at the top believe themselves to be emperors who are accountable to no one, it's hard for anything to happen.

Do they? Kings of the world? I thought they just didn't want to own us anymore. I don't think they can really be citicised for that.

Cant see the takeover been completed before the start of the new season, so the boss will have to spend what he's got

Its time the chairman and owners give him a break and back him for once or kiss goodbye to any european dreams you have planned

Out of interest and not related to this post but when does the moaning embargo begin? Is it if Heskey isn't signed come deadline day?

I give it two weeks :P

Have to say though we have had some frustrating windows but this is a whole new level.

At the moment it genuinely feels like we will go into next season with the same lot or maybe one panic buy we don't want at the end namely Beattie or Benjani

I usually read this message board without posting. I read a lot of intelligent and well informed opinion and some drivel. One thing that characterises most posts, however, is the passion with which the views are expressed.

It is with this in mind that I feel moved to post my own thoughts about the current transfer debacle. I fully understand the financial arguments and I accept that Rovers has to maintain financial prudence if not to risk following other, more profligate, clubs down the path to financial ruin. And I accept that things are complicated by the apparent stand-off regarding the prospective take over.

Nevertheless, I am amazed at the lack of foresight and the surprising level of apparent inertia that is being displayed by the current owners and the board - and by the prospective new owners, to the extent that one assumes that they are serious in their desire to acquire the club and see it remain in the top flight of English football.

Surely Blackburn Rovers has to take some calculated risks in order to maximise its chances of staying in the Premier League and that means making a modest investment, but an investment nevertheless, in at least one striker and one creative midfield player, and before the sale of the last remnants of cast-offs, crocks and mercenaries as the transfer window closes in 5 weeks or so.

The consequence of not doing so is to greatly increase the chances of a season long relegation battle and likely financial (and operational) oblivion, if our worst relegation fears are realised. And then the club will have little or no realisable value to the Trust or to its new owners.

I can only hope that the supposed £2.5m budget for transfers is an arbitrary figure used for PR purposes and that in truth enough will be available to meet the need. This may be little more than double this amount, who knows, but extreme fiscal prudence will be a hollow victory for the balance sheet if the 2010/11 season starts with Rovers having just two strikers, an injury prone and goal shy midfield and a manager that is clearly at the end of his tether through lack of resources to allow his team to compete with its peers in mid-table.

Calculated risk in the transfer market now, in the hands of an experienced manager with a reasonable track record in securing decent value for money, should secure Premier League football for more than just the next season. And, if it does all go wrong and Rovers is to go down to the Championship at the end of next season, will a couple of £million really make that much difference to the melt down that will follow?

That said, regardless of their league status, Blackburn Rovers has been the club I have supported for over 30 years and nothing will change that.

:rover: tremendous news, sooner he's gone the better :brfcsmilie:

And the sooner Rovers are playing Championship football every week, I dont think you know how bad it will be to the club if Sam goes, your own personal hate for the manager is overshadowing the fact that if he was to go we would be in a worse position.

Do you think Jose will leave Real Madrid for us or maybe Sir Alex will be beating down John Williams door to get the job.

In reality we are looking at Phil Brown, Ian Dowie and Alan Curbushley, that's not a pretty list.

Someone mentions Heskey and Nicko goes along with it as if it could actually happen, only for the him to change his mind the next day saying we could be chasing a number of other targets???? I think I will just wait for official news from now on...

I think you speak for the majority of fans with this view, but sadly we must just trust the board. Think of all the money that has been wasted over the years in the Hodgson and Kidd transfer debacles. It's no wonder we run a tighter ship nowadays

Well after watching the game against Rangers something is painfully obvious we desperately need a Striker Roberts is good at bringing the ball down but never a scorer. Maceo Rigters is just his usual anonymous self. Having said that whoever our central defence is the first goal should easily have been cleared. Chimbo also needs to go should have cut out the cross for their second. We miss Samba's influence at the back shame he was out. We also miss Kalinic and Jase is nowhere near the finisher we need if only he could score he would be the complete forward because everything else he does is ok but finishing seems as though he shoots with a blindfold on. I have to conclude I agree with most posters it would be suicide to go into the new season with only 2 recognised strikers. So hopefully Sam will sort it soon or else I predict a relegation battle ahead. I also have to say Dunny's fitness is worrying seemed to struggle today but the penalty to send the keeper the wrong way was a cool pen.

Sky Sports breaking news - Guti signs for Besiktas. Guess that ship's sailed then. Shame.

We probably couldn't have competed with them anyway. It is a shame though, there aren't really any other exciting names on the horizon.

Can someone explain why a team like Stoke are being linked with £10m+ moves for players, whilst we're always counting the pennies? We're an established PL club for crying out loud, and Stoke's average attendance is only slightly higher than ours. Are they spending beyond their means or am I missing something? Or perhaps they have a sensible wage structure in place so they can afford new players?

Peter Coates their owner is wealthy and makes cash available.
