tcj_jones Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 With Wellbeck going out on loan, I don't expect Fergie to be letting Macheda go out as well. I anticipate seeing him a fair bit more next season, especially if Owen continues to struggle for fitness and Berbatov for form.

You'd expect him to be higher up the pecking order than Macheda. They've also got Diouf.
1864roverite Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Any supporter who thinks Rovers can progress this season with the current squad is MISGUIDED. The currebt squad needs a big boost, a central midfielder and at least 1 good centre forward otherwise we will seriously struggle. Any supporter who thinks MIDO is an option - just what planet are you on or what is it you have been drinking ? The team is now in a position where any regression spells struggle and relegation, it is as simple as that. 10th spot was fine, Rovers have to aim for the same at the very least. I dont see SA settling for less but he needs to be allowed to bring in additional players and the club/trust should back him.
MarkBRFC71 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Thought Mido had gone to Ajax anyway? Bullet - nay, a full-on intercontinental ballistic missile - dodged there if it's true ....
Jackson Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Sam is an expert at grinding out results Oh, how I look forward to another season of this. Bliss.

LeChuck Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 roberts and nicola up front this season spells relagation Why? It didn't last year. Kalinic never started playing until January either, I'm expecting big(ger) things from him this year.
T4E Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Totally off topic but I couldnt be bothered to find a more appropriate place for this. Unbelievable tekkers

Darth Paul Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 roberts and nicola up front this season spells relagation Technically, 'relegation' spells 'relegation'!
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Everyday I check this thread and there is nothing new whatsoever. 2 weeks until the season starts on Saturday and I am dreading it in all honesty. Could this be the season where our lack of spending hits us hard?

Could this be the season where our lack of spending hits us hard? Relegation is an option. Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves. Remember our miserable run last season and that fateful game at Man. City? Yes, we recovered from that mauling, but next time we might not be so lucky - especially with our limited personnel and lack of investment. I'm expecting mid-table obscurity next season, but the prospect of a relegation fight cannot be discounted.
nicko Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 There is a growing word that you are in for John Utaka at Portsmouth... Obviously will be cheap. But his wages are big. Strange one, but these are strange times. Wonder if we have look at Mido. He is available on a free transfer. He's a good player, but got a abit of bad attitude but that Big Sam type of player. (like Diouf) I would sign him personally. Mido joined Ajax. His agent is the same agent who looks after Martin Jol. Fulham may have dodged a bullet too.
Ricky Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 Underwhelmed much ( At this current time I'd rather us leave any signings until the end of August and then raid Man City for one of their strikers who won't fit into their 25 man squad.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Well at least we should be high in the running order on the football league show.

Strange one, but these are strange times. How do Nicko, Is there any chance we can get a few players on loan from ManU? ie Anderson, He is one of the players that might miss out on being in the squad due to all these changes and not being allowed to play till at least the new year, I know wages might be a problem like but Anderson would be ideal for us.

Strange one, but these are strange times. I heard from some Pompey supporting friends of mine that he was on huge wages. Surprised we are looking at him to be honest, we seem fine in the winger department and as a forward he isn't prolific. 7 goals in 65 games for Pompey if his wiki entry is correct. Smells of a desperation signing to me.

Amo Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Some paper had him at £80k/w, but that seems a tad excessive even for Pompey. According to Peter Storrie, Utaka only earns a third of that. And we all know his word is his bond.

I do get the feeling that this loan business is interesting quite a few. The trouble is that you will have seven or eight clubs with the begging bowl at the same time come the end of August. There will be favours done, so if Sam keeps sucking up to Sir Alex then it might have a chance. Only thing with Anderson is that he is injured.
AndyNeil Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Just as an aside, is there a deadline when the 25 man squad has to be named?
nicko Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Just as an aside, is there a deadline when the 25 man squad has to be named? September 1. Transfer window shuts on the same day. It's going to make for some bedlam.
