RoversSG Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 The question we should be asking is how much would Jo cost? If the fee is less than our budget of £2.5m, I'll say lets take a gamble. If the move works out, we could probably sell him for at least £10m. However, if City is looking for more than £5m, I say we look for other options.

Tim Southampton Rover Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I just remembered that Jo cost City £18 million and according to Wiki, he's only played 9 league games for the club. I was only moaning earlier today how I paid 71p for a Raisin and Biscuit Yorkie. That makes me feel a lot better! Tim. How many games has it played and how many goals? Obviously with the crazy transfer market at the moment, I want to keep it a Secret at the moment, but I will Revels all later. For the price, he'll give our squad the Boost it needs.
LeChuck Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Happy to wake up to the news of Jo this morning. He's exactly the sort of player we specialise in resurrecting. He's got obvious talent, and showed prior to England that he's a good goalscorer. He's about as good as it's going to get with the money we have. It's not very often we get the chance to sign a 23 year old with three caps for Brazil!
wandel77 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 With Ireland, Bellamy, Santa Cruz, Robinho and Garido not getting squad places at City, Jo is not even on the top of the list to be got rid of. He was pants at City but began to do quite well on loan at Everton last season although never looked £18m worth. Certainly a player who kept opposing defenders busy and needed doubling up against when he got posession. That sort of threat which creates space for others is something we don't have at Rovers currently. Yep, just get does 4 players then we are out of the relegation battle ;-) If we can get Ireland i will be happy as you can. He is a great player, and i do not understand why Mancini do not see that. Så Mr. Williams take a chance and find the money for him. just my view on this silly season. I think the only club in the UK who has been on the market is Man City, while they are the only ones with money.
alexanders Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Andy Cryer (LT): Rovers haven't signed their striker yet. But 'progress' has been made according to my sources this morning. I reckon there could be a few goals in this today
thenodrog Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Agreed. Jo is a risk but probably a risk worth taking given the circumstance we find ourselves in. I don't think any Brazillian footballer could ever fit into Sam Allardyces ideal centre forward role. As soon as I see any player from Brazil playing in this country I immedietely think 'overrated'. just my view on this silly season. I think the only club in the UK who has been on the market is Man City, while they are the only ones with money. Hey you might have a point there wandel! I wonder if there is a link between those two facts.

joey_big_nose Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I don't think any Brazillian footballer could ever fit into Sam Allardyces ideal centre forward role. I dont know about that. Luis Fabiano is just about Sams perfect player. Not that he would ever come mind. Jo is the sort of player we have luck in sorting out and getting more out of them than previous clubs. Worth a look.
BuckyRover Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I would be happy with Jo. Have we ever signed a brazillian before? I don't recall.
den Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I would be happy with Jo. Why? He's been terrible in this country.

dr_awol Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I would be happy with Jo, i forgot he was only 23 so prob went to man city to young, id hope hes the type of player we can turn around. the only down side,we will not get as much money from his name on the back of shirts

Sandiway Blue Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I would be happy with Jo, i forgot he was only 23 so prob went to man city to young, id hope hes the type of player we can turn around. the only down side,we will not get as much money from his name on the back of shirts I agree, definitely the wrong club at that age to go to.A move to a club like ours would see him get a lot more first team action and the experience he needs to progress. This time last year we were talking about getting rid of `deadwood` like Martin Olsson as he didn`t look like he could play at the top level.Thankfully we didn`t and now big things are expected of him this season. Also i do think some players play better when the team is built more around them.Prime example being Bellamy, superb at Rovers because we played to his strengths whereas at Liverpool the fat waiter obviously didn`t do his homework and Bellers just became an expensive extra.Same happened with Robbie Keane (coincidence they were similar style of player?). Hopefully this could be the same thing with Jo,if we play to his strengths then we may get the player that City spotted when they first signed him.
whiteinpeace Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 He signed Mario Jardel. Who I think weighed more than Sam did at the time!

There is no point changing our whole team to suit the likes of Jo. He is undoubtedly a very good player on his day but we need him to fit our style of play as Sam will not change this. will he bring Niko into the game? will he hold the ball up well? how good is he in the air? Will he turn up to traning? Is he committed to his own development? Is he committed to the Blackburn cause? These are the questions we need to ask!!

Blackburns cause, is deffinately a cause of concern right now. We need a striker, we struggling to find one... Jo at least is somewhat use to the PL, and he is a talented player. Hmmm, if only we had money, then we could have signed Jo and perhaps Vagner Love. The 2 of them were good at CSKA, and City deffinately signed the wrong striker at the time.

His Pace,Power and Height would be the most obvious attributes. What Rovers have been lacking in the last couple of years has been somebody with pace up front and Jo certainly has that.Given Sam`s preference for as many set pieces as possible, his height would be a huge bonus especially as he does seem to be decent in the air. We won`t know the answers to the other questions until/if we sign him.But then again how many of us would have thought Bellamy would stay out of trouble during his stay with us?
AJW Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I see Liverpool have bid 2.75m for Luke Young as back up for Glenn Johnson , they could have Chimbonda for less that that ....go on Sam ...give Woy a ring!!!
