Another bizarre thing about the Mail article...only 3 players listed as possible departures at Man City, which would be fine if they limited that part to 3 for all clubs, but they've got 5 down for Stoke! On the City ones listed though, I'd be very happy if we could get rid of Chimbonda and/or Jacobsen and bring in Onuoha...

The Jo deal is very unlikely to happen for a number of reasons:

1) If the club are trying to buy him for a cut price as stated according to nicko this means a player they bought for £11 million is no way going to be sold for as little as £2.5M (the amount rovers have to play with). If Man city are looking to sell him they'll demand at least £4-5M. He may have not made the cut at City but seriously if steven flethcer went to wolves for £7M ( :wstu: ) then how will Man city be prepared to sell him for that low a price.

2) In the extrodinary case that Man city are prepared to sell him for £2.5M then at that price other clubs will surely also be interested.

3) He's likely to be on high wages, so a cut will be required, however this wont be too much of a problem

4) Lastly, he's owned by a third party, same group as Carlos Tevez, and trust me dealing with them is no cup of tea.

Sorry to spill the beans.

What did City buy for the £11M if he's still owned by a third party? I would imagine Joorabchian and Zahavi are just his handlers, not owners. And doing a deal with a third party is not allowed in PL anymore, so if he would be owned by a third party, we couldn't buy him from them.

You've identified as the smallest factor the thing I would expect to be the most important factor.

Jo is one of the better names linked this window but we're on a very slippery slope indeed if our one and only signing of the summer is a loanee.

pretty sensible in my book going the loan route , paying crap already here mega money when no other club would want them seems incredibly dangerous business however...step forward mr pedersen. I wish we only loaned kalinic to be quite honest as we'd not be paying close to 6m after his season. Loans with a view to a permanant deal with the terms set in stone beforehand should the fella turn out to be a worldy and an option to walk away if he's di santo like are the way to go without a doubt. That was the bentley case i think, arsenal may have got half the transfer fee but it still worked out brilliantly for us.

Yeah I agree with you mate. If you can get them on a loan take it, especially if you ain't got a pot to ###### in like us.

Also I can never understand why they give managers 3 or 4 years contracts. Then when they don't perform they can't afford to get rid of them, or if they do it costs an arm and a leg. Might as well just give them a 12 months contract with a few to extend it a further year. (A wonder off the point but just seemed related in my mind for some reason)

That wasn't the Bentley case. Negotiations for his sale only took place AFTER his loan, or it may have been halfway through it in Jan.

Ricardo Faty trial begins monday

Ricardo Faty, who will participate this weekend at the Paris tournament with AS Roma, will then be tested on Monday by club Blackburn. The French midfielder of Roma also very interested in the Greeks Olympiakos.

Arrived in Rome in 2006 after four years in Strasbourg, Ricardo Faty, so later at Bayer Leverkusen and in Nantes, could leave Italy this summer. The French middle runner of 24 years in fact much like the club from Blackburn (Premier League), which will former resident of the INF Clairefontaine trial Monday.

Before that, Faty, which was also on the shelves of French clubs (St Etienne, Lille, Nice, Auxerre ...), will participate in the Paris tournament this weekend at the Parc des Princes with AS Roma. The Senegalese-born player is also making interest on the part of Greece where Olympiakos is willing to accept.

More info on Jelavic:

3m tag

With all the stories coming about Jelavic it makes me think that Rapid Vienna are somewhat eager to sell.

Was it Eaves we were interested in? Just saw he scored 3 against Bolton tonight.

No disrespect Mr Shah if you pull your finger out of your backside and buy the club, then maybe we could afford to buy him.

Depends if the circa £2.5m we have to spend includes wages as well. If so then its the free transfer bargain basement or loan players.

Not sure what all the panic is about. I would like us to sign a forward and creative midfielder, but the window has been tosh this time round and a number of clubs have done little or no business. Clearly money is tight and wage demands look on the silly side. Even the Donkey-lashers have signed no one, which I find mind boggling.

I think we could do a lot worse than Nonda if he is still a free agent.

Don't know much about Faty has anyone seen him before?

JO...the move will depend on whether it increases the value of the player in the eyes of the people who actually 'own' him...Man City will get rid of a lot of players by the end of the window because they simply won't play...I think BUYING him is the least likely option...a loan favourite...

FATY...if it's a loan or cheap it could be right...especially if Grella is leaving...but he has been offered to a few others...so you would need to see him first surely.

FINANCES...I don't want to steal someone else's story, but there may be developments on that front.

JELAVIC...depend on the above.

BEATTIE...still warm as a possible.

EAVES...scored a hat-trick tonight, somebody may buy him soon...but he is not ready to make a Premier League impact...Bolton were atrocious.

Is Caicedo still lurking as an outside possibiity and is Heskey completely out of the question now? I expect we surely will bring in at least one player permanently.

Found this about Faty on wiki:

He made his Champion's League debut with Roma against Olympiacos at the Karaiskákis Stadium. He was given the job of man-marking the former Brazilian star Rivaldo. Roma eventually won the match 1–0. He employed this role so well and efficiently that Luciano Spalletti praised him and many tabloids and newspapers named him the "new" Patrick Vieira.
