alexanders Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Shift out Grella, get Faty in. Sounds like a good plan.

thenodrog Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I'm not at all comfortable with the seeming trend of replacing permanent players with those on a short term contract or loan deal though. Whats a 'permanent' player Simon? Either they end up f@@@@@@ us off or we end up back handing them to f@@@ off. Permanent players disappeared with Johnny Bosman. You should have seen enough at BRFC to know that football contracts are ludicrously only binding for one signatory. I'd like to know what parting with Reid, Zurab and Grella has cost us cos I'd imagine that it'd be enough for you or I to retire on thats for sure. How would we go on with 'permanent' players should we be relegated btw? As far as short term deals are concerned they are the future imo and especially now that transfer fees are largely being consigned to the history books. 'Evergreen' 12 month contracts or similar prob being the way forward. Any player worth keeping could be offered a longer term deal but lets be honest anybody any good wouldn't sign it unless he had an injury fear and wanted some security would he? And if that happened we'd then wish we hadn't offered it to him. Who says it has to be the US? America contains many countries... Anybody else got a mental image of American sat wide eyed, open mouthed and perplexed in front of his screen after reading that?
thenodrog Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 A Celtic supporting friend has heard the hastily arranged PSF was on the back of transfer discussions and a chance for Rovers to check someone out. Speculating but it might have been to watch someone play in a competative match for us who we were considering signing.
alexanders Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Rangers after Mphela Todays Nikica Jelavic news. Rangers are clearly interested in him, but todays fee is mentioned to be €4m. This article also states that Rangers are after South African striker Mphela. I dont know why, but I have a gut feeling that we will see Nikica Jelavic in blue and white halves before the transfer window shuts.
MarkBRFC71 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Wikipedia says Jelavic signed for Rangers for £2.5m yesterday - but we all know how reliable that is. Aren't we getting a bit overexcited about a player who's had one good season in the Austrian League? I think Rangers will be a big step up for him, let alone Rovers.
John Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Nzonzi n Dunn... But suppose our tactics decide that. Dunn hardly ever plays in central midfield for us - he simply does not have the legs. Plus how long until he is injured?
Bobby G Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 We will play with 3 in the middle surely and they will be Nzonzi, Pedersen, & Dunn.
ewoodpo Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Let's hope the Baggies wrap this one up quickly. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3074504/West-Brom-lead-James-Beattie-chase.html
LeChuck Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Didn't Harry turn him down at the same time? Spurs fans should be furious and want him fired. Spurs have got Modric, Palacios, Huddlestone, O'Hara, Jenas and Krancar. I doubt they care much. We've got Keith Andrews and Vince Grella.
Iceman Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Let's hope the Baggies wrap this one up quickly. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3074504/West-Brom-lead-James-Beattie-chase.html Lets hope not, i would rather have them bid 1.5mill for Roberts. Then we will have 4mill to spend, use 3mill on Jelevic and get Jo in on loan, and use the balance on his and Faty's wages or something.
nicko Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Second bid gone in for striker. Grella to Gala is very much back on...it fell down over the payment of the fee last time...that is being worked on...the player is interested in going.
Gav Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Grella to Gala is very much back on...it fell down over the payment of the fee last time...that is being worked on...the player is interested in going. Finally some good news.
Amo Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Grella to Gala is very much back on...it fell down over the payment of the fee last time...that is being worked on...the player is interested in going. Don't suppose you know what kind of money Grella is on at the club?
whiteinpeace Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 A rumour going around is that you guys are trying to hijack our move for Klasnic. Heard that he has been released by Nantes now so that we might have a struggle to match paying his whole wage whereas you seem to have some money available now. Probably a load of nonsense but thought I'd share.....
Mike Graham Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Good news at last: "Rovers make new signing. It is reported that Rovers have signed up a new Boardroom cat called Big Fat Sammy. according to CEO John Williams the creature just walked in off the street, he was so warm and cuddly we just could not say no, he is a charming warm(hearted) pussy. BFSammy cost nowt, he is however expensive to keep and eats enough Walkers (sorry Whiskers) to cost Rovers the equivalent of the salary of MGP. Williams said when he realised what such a fat cat we had in the Boardroom he should have wisked him off to Galatasary or the FA long ago, indeed we are thinking of renaming him Benny Boy on the account of his big stomach and simple words."
DanLad Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Nzonzi n Dunn... But suppose our tactics decide that. If we play a 4-4-1-1, like last season, Dunn will play behind the front man, probably (and is likely to be out for spells injured, in any event). If we play a 3-5-2 there needs to be a third centre mid. Either way you need to name a further player for centre mid. Grella isn't generally fit or is leaving. Andrews is Andrews. There's Ped, but he's playing out of position and isn't really a hard tackling midfielder. He has the engine, though, but lacks the pace to suppiort the frontmen of a consistent basis from a deeper midfield position. Emo is a possible, too, and personally I'd like to see him get an extended run in centre mid. Once agiain, though, he would arguably be playing out of position. Given that we don't exactly have rich pickings I think the Andranik signing is a good move on a free. He's always seemed quite neat and tidy from what I've seen. I think he can be quite creative, too.

Steve Moss Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 At the 30 Jul 2010 10:35:45 mark, there is a rumor that Hughes will get Bellamy for 4 million and will also be going for MGP. http://www.football-rumours.co.uk/ Also, toward the end of the article, the LT states that the Rovers have not had a fresh approach for Grella. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/8302654.Samba__We_need_to_help_out_the_strikers/?ref=rss Zurab is in talks with Russian club Anzhi. http://www.tribalfootball.com/blackburn-rovers-defender-zurab-khizanishvili-anzhi-talks-1010471
Gambit217 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Grella to Gala is very much back on...it fell down over the payment of the fee last time...that is being worked on...the player is interested in going. I imagine Gala wanted to pay in mutiple installmens, with Rovers prefering a larger chunk up front than was offered Nicko ? I've heard rumours again that 2 bids in are for Jelavic. First bid was matching Rangers' bid of £2.5m, which was rejected by Rapid, who are looking for closer to £3.5m. Don't know how much the latest bid is but probably meeting Rapid in the middle I'd imagine. Heard any of this Nicko ?
Guest Kamy100 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Seems like the transfer market is now hotting up. a lot of activity going on today involving Premier League Clubs. Hopefully Rovers can secure their target soon. Hope that Grella is moved on so that Sam has additional funds to spend. I would not be surprised if we also get someone in on loan.
rog of the rovers Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 At the 30 Jul 2010 10:35:45 mark, there is a rumor that Hughes will get Bellamy for 4 million and will also be going for MGP. http://www.football-rumours.co.uk/ MGP wont be going anywhere after just signing a new contract. Also I doubt Bellamy would go to Fulham when Tottenham (and potentially Champions League football) are sniffing around. I could see Roque going there though......

Jo and Jelavic would suit me fine. Nice if we got a midfielder as well but I can't see how we can afford anyone apart from maybe a loan, or a Nzonzi/Linganzi type of speculative deal. We need to shift Chimbonda and Grella pretty desperately. Fantastic news if Vince goes.
Oklahoma Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Don't know if this has been mentioned before (recently at least) but the site calciomercato.com is reporting that Faty will travel to Blackburn next monday to start a trial. They say he has not convinced Ranieri in the last trainings and that he is valued in €1 million and his contract ends in 2011. http://www.calciomercato.com/mercato/roma-faty-al-blackburn-in-prova
