budha Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 It also says the move broke down over his personal terms, which is what I heard before. Whereas Nicko claims it was the fee. It actually says when he was discussing terms, not because of them. Let's say a £2M fee was agreed, but while Grella was discussing personal terms, they wanted to pay the sum in several installments or make a part of it conditional based on appearances. Or something like that.

Hi Mack Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 It actually says when he was discussing terms, not because of them. Let's say a £2M fee was agreed, but while Grella was discussing personal terms, they wanted to pay the sum in several installments or make a part of it conditional based on appearances. Or something like that. The only reason for the "Delay" is due to the Sydney tour, It was essential Grella was part of the squad for this tour.....Im not sure if it was a Contractual agreement. But it was part of the deal that Emerton and Grella were present! I fully expect Grella to be in Turkey next season. Amount of money involved?.............not sure!
chaddyrovers Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/blackburn-rovers-potential-transfer-targets-2039735.html It's say that we got 6 million pounds to spend. is this true Nicko??? Transfer Targets are not surely who we want apart from Jo and Bance.
67splitscreen Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 We missed out on unleaded's tip, Kone. Joined Lorient.
Commondore Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Tell that to Robbie Savage. I don't think we share a common definition of a holding midfielder. I'm thinking of players like Deschamps and Campo, players who shield the defensive line and operates on a quite small area, essentially an offensive centreback Savage, as terrific as he was for us, was more of a runner and tackler who broke up the oppositions play all over the field. Who just so happens to be the best midfielder of that type we've had in a long long time. What I wouldnt give for one more season of him and Tugay. Can we have a fit David Thompson too? Underrated!
nicko Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Is there an 11 o'clocker, Nicko? No, but you can have a 7 o'clocker instead. STRIKERS...there are TWO being chased...and there is NO-ONE close to being signed... BUDGET...about £4 million to spend [plus sales]... KALINIC...touch and go for start of the season... ROBERTS...obviously has to stay in the circumstances...for now anyway... GRELLA...his people are still pushing the Gala thing... FATY...could well come on trial...not the best CV... ASSULIN...tell you about that one in a Saturday night 11 o'clocker...

Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Can you confirm whether the Assulin thing is to do with why he didn't turn up or have there been other developments which may make it still a possibility?
roversfan99 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Im glad that the budget is slightly higher than i expected, but if we head into the Everton game with just Roberts Im guessing Jelavic and Jo maybe?
Hi Mack Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Total guess on the strikers....... Jelavic and Beattie? Possibilities? Eaves, Heskey, Bance, Sammasa(sp?) Jelavic and any of those and i'd be happy, We cant start the season with 2 strikers!............Can we?
Backroom Tom Posted July 30, 2010 Backroom Posted July 30, 2010 I wouldn't be surprised to see Assulin turn up at Bolton on trial, that young Ecuadorian ar Burnley had similarities. 4m looks like more than we thought but if that includes wages then maybe the prices banded about are right. Seeing Roberts starting up front alone vs Everton would be soul crushing for me
Doaksie Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I don't think we share a common definition of a holding midfielder. Can we have a fit David Thompson too? Underrated! No. I think we agree on your definition of a holding midfielder. I meant "Tell that to Robbie Savage", more in respect of Sav fancying himself as a holding midfielder, where as I would class him more as an all-action type. That style of player doesn't seem very popular these days, with teams preferring your text-book 'Vieira'-type defensive player. A fit David Thompson - yes please! Bit of a worry to hear Kalinic will take no part in our pre-season preparations. Won't help his chances of having a better season in front of goal at all. I can see him lacking that crucial bit of sharpness for the first few months. Jelavic, Jo, Kalinic and Roberts. That 4 would do me just fine.
Iceman Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Nicko, is Coyle after Assulin? Somebody told me, that a premier league club, was willing to offer him a contract without a trial.
nicko Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Nicko, is Coyle after Assulin? Somebody told me, that a premier league club, was willing to offer him a contract without a trial. No.
Roberto Policano Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Don't know if this has been mentioned before (recently at least) but the site calciomercato.com is reporting that Faty will travel to Blackburn next monday to start a trial. They say he has not convinced Ranieri in the last trainings and that he is valued in €1 million and his contract ends in 2011. http://www.calciomercato.com/mercato/roma-faty-al-blackburn-in-prova Roma have offered him everywhere, need to get shut.
roversfan99 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Is Andranik close to signing(sorry if you mean no one at all is close to signing as i assume you mean just strikers)? Edit: Roberto what do you think of Faty, good enough for us?
67splitscreen Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Just a guess, I wonder if Assulin made the trip to Auss, and has been kept off the radar, we seem to be moving training venues at very short notice out there.
Exiled_Rover Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Is Andranik close to signing(sorry if you mean no one at all is close to signing as i assume you mean just strikers)? Edit: Roberto what do you think of Faty, good enough for us? Have you seen our midfield? If he's breathing he'd walk straight into it.

ASSULIN...tell you about that one in a Saturday night 11 o'clocker... I think the two strikers being chase are Jelavic and Bance. Jelavic would cost 3 million pounds. Grella will probably be replace by Gary O'neil. An article saying that Grella won't make it back to Blackburn from The Sydeny morning Hearld http://www.smh.com.au/sport/football/grella-may-not-make-it-back-to-blackburn-as-clubs-talk-turkey-20100730-10zrm.html
67splitscreen Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I like the sound of $3.5m, please, Sam don't play him for more than 30 seconds, it's just not worth the risk.
Roberto Policano Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Edit: Roberto what do you think of Faty, good enough for us? Sits in front of the back 4,high energy and tackles hard.Very tall at 6 foot 5,very good in the air,Obviously a threat at set piece etc.He could certainly do a job, especially if Grella leaves. Roma would be happy with a million if it was upfront.
Bobby G Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Faty was a highly rated prospect only 2 years ago. Stalled at Roma, but still young enough to fulfill that potential!
thenodrog Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Worst signing we have made for a long time. Robbie Fowler?
Doaksie Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Robbie Fowler? Fowler was clearly past it, but just the one little difference - what was it again, oh yeah the £4 million!
