ada2020 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Nicko you say £4 million budget, quite a lot more than was first mentioned. You alluded to an increase in funds a few days ago (I think) has the trust added some much needed cash to the kitty? Sorry if this has already been confirmed but I seem to have missed it.

thenodrog Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Sits in front of the back 4,high energy and tackles hard.Very tall at 6 foot 5,very good in the air,Obviously a threat at set piece etc.He could certainly do a job, especially if Grella leaves. Roma would be happy with a million if it was upfront. Those two statements don't stack up together Roberto...... Unless you included slow, poor passer of the ball and can't trap a wet sandbag.
Hi Mack Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 From the Sydney Morning Herald article: "Though manager Frank Rijkaard ultimately decided to cut ties with Congolese striker Shabani Nonda instead before signing Kewell for a further year" Am i reading too much in to this?
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 If Faty is a holding midfielder then i would be happy, you just can't rely on Grella (decent when fit- but that hardly ever happens). A 4-2-3-1 with Faty could work: N'Zonzi Faty Hoilett Dunny Olsson Kalinic N'Zonzi and Faty the two sitters, break up play and distribute the ball to the wingers and AMC in front. The 3 behind Kalinic supporting him. Another AMC would be ideal if we had the money, someone more box-to-box and fitter than Dunny.
hi-jaq Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 How come we are trying to sign another defensive midfielder??? N'zonzi, Crack Head Keef, Linganzi, Teymourian (if he signs) Grella (if he stays?) We need some creativity in the middle of the park... I've only seen the game against Nob End, but we couldn't play the ball in any kind of direction that resembled a forward pass. Assulin seemed a half decent idea, but we couldn't even get him through the door. Not sure what is happening here, but we have all been saying it since Tugay departed, yes we need a striker, but some quality in midfield is paramount. Our only shining light is Dunny, but if we get 15-20 prem appearances we will be lucky, and the only reasons he scored goals last season was because of his ability to make the right runs and that he also took a few pens. He can't run a game, like Tugay used to, and it will be even more apparant this season I think. We desperately need a quality striker, but in my opinion a quality ball playing midfielder should be very high on the agenda also, even if some players need to go to raise funds... I wonder... now Roy Hodgson is at Liverpool, if he's still interested in Crack Head Keef, they would be able to cope with his wage demands I'm sure!!!
allanncd Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I would Kalinic injury is the same groin problem that kept him out at the end of last season and recurred for u-21s. Absolutely typical that Rovers fail to sort out these problems at the time and allow to drag into following season. Has happened before.
ChesterRover Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I think the two strikers being chase are Jelavic and Bance. Jelavic would cost 3 million pounds. Grella will probably be replace by Gary O'neil. An article saying that Grella won't make it back to Blackburn from The Sydeny morning Hearld http://www.smh.com.au/sport/football/grella-may-not-make-it-back-to-blackburn-as-clubs-talk-turkey-20100730-10zrm.html You just know Grella will pull up injured dont ya! Please please please let him go and O'neil come in, that wouldnt be a bad move at all

Darwen Rover Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Last post was supposed to say couldn't agree more..
Gav Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Crack Head Keef, if he's still interested in Crack Head Keef He maybe a poor excuse for a footballer, but calling him a crack head is not on really.
hi-jaq Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 He maybe a poor excuse for a footballer, but calling him a crack head is not on really. It's not a dig at him being a "poor excuse for a footballer" in comparison to most of the players I play against on a sunday, he's a world beater!!! It's the way he looks... I find it funny, and it's an ongoing joke, but I suppose we shouldn't be poking fun at our own players now should we... soz!!!
Doaksie Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Seemingly Rangers have put in a fresh bid for Jelavic. Are they are in the same boat as ourselves with duplicate bids I wonder, or is the mystery forward a different name? Tuncay perhaps?

JoeBlueWhite Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 This off season has felt like banging your head against a brick wall but there was light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe getting in Jo and Jelavic would help the pain. Plus throw in a 1st team midfielder and we would be out the rough. Why does it feel like even this is slipping away and we are back in the ###### ?
Steve Moss Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I think the two strikers being chase are Jelavic and Bance. Jelavic would cost 3 million pounds. Grella will probably be replace by Gary O'neil. As to Bance, it could be a good move for us if we are talking Aristide, and not Danny, Bance. Sits in front of the back 4,high energy and tackles hard.Very tall at 6 foot 5,very good in the air,Obviously a threat at set piece etc.He could certainly do a job, especially if Grella leaves. Roma would be happy with a million if it was upfront. He's worth the gamble at a million. I think he'd thrive in the PL, given a chance.
steverovers Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 He maybe a poor excuse for a footballer, but calling him a crack head is not on really. Those calling him that name need to get a life. He may not be the most gifted and nobodies favourite, but deserves better than that. Those calling him 'crack head' should be ashamed of themselves!
braddock Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 as controversial as it sounds keith embodies brfc more than any of our other players from the lower divisions unfashionable and not respected by the masses full of effort keeps working whilst ignoring the nay sayers as a squad player i don't understand the problem

But yeah, he's certainly more likable than mercenaries like Diouf or Chimbonda.
alexanders Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Nicko, is Deniz Yilmaz one of the strikers being watched? After reading a bit about him I think he would be perfect for the the second striker role or playing in the hole. He is also the captain of the turkish u-21 side and has the potential to become a huge star in the future. I wonder if Tugay would recommend us to him instead of him going to blackpool, stoke, wbrom or another premier league player. An article in a deutsch paper suggested that he was bound to go the premier league.
Majiball Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Mr Nixon, can you tell us where this extra money has come from?? Is it out of our overdraft or from our much ridiculed owners??? I wonder if Annan could be bought for 2 million down plus extras???? The Turk/German is supposed to be decent but I do wonder why he hasn't played yet for Bayern or even gone on loan at 22.
