The pretty feeble 11 o'clocker...

ASSULIN...has been invited for a trial at Manchester City...big surprise...big ego obviously...big mistake...

KLASNIC...forgot to answer that name when asked...looking for silly money from Bolton...not worth it in my view...not on Rovers radar...

TARGETS...many being watched...none close.

TRIALISTS...watch out for one or two coming, but this really is getting rather late.

August 1 tomorrow and no signings. Is this a record?

Just be glad there is so much tripe about in the Prem right now. This will be the poorest quality campaign ever.

Where do you apportion the blame for that Alan? No doubt the weak £ and the recent tax changes have made a significant difference. But are football agents mutilating the Bosman legacy perhaps? Irresponsible / weak kneed club directors possibly? Even more irresponsible bankers allowing huge debts to be run up in the past?

Or all of the above?

lol did big sam not say at the start of the transfer window he wanted everything sorted before the start of the world cup and nothin yet

Yeah he did. His first choice target was Lewardowski but the Board won't pay the fee for him!!! Can't blame BIG SAM!!! I think the list is Jo, Bance, Caicedo, Vaughan, Jelavic and Marcus Pedersen.

A shortage of good players, the best young ones now concentrated at the big clubs, the avergae young ones over-paid and without the hunger to make a career of it, crap coaching, a generation of talent-spotters who think you have to be big to be a player, Maggie Thatcher for stopping the free milk in Scottish schools, PlayStation, 24-hour TV stations...

You get the drift?

Suggestion: let's forget about signing anyone, save the money for a more prospective time, and concentrate on training and executing our game-plan. This whole summer transfer market has been nothing short of a pain in the ass. We haven't lost anyone good, and if anything the players should have an even better season.

Suggestion: We don't go into the season with only 2 forwards, one of whom is currently injured, the other of whom couldn't hit John Prescott's arse with a nuke.

I wouldn't, in theory, mind too much if we preserved the bulk of the pot for future use and took somebody on loan in the meantime, except that history shows that money would vanish again.

I do hope we sign Faty too cause he was being raved at bigtime in France and I can see him and Nzonzi forming a strong backbone to the midfield. He wouldnt cost much either.

Faty I can understand, but why do we need him and the iranian??? IF anything we should be looking for a back-up to Dunn. I just don't get our transfer policy anymore its warped.

A friend of mine just sat his B licence, he asked me to go over his science before getting his book ticked off by his assessor. The fitness section must be 20 years old, it doesn't even mention interval training. The vast majority of it is wrong, when he brought up the points with them, he got the response "we know but its easier this way" he wanted to know why he was paying £500+ pounds for wrong information, they then just said thats the syllabus and what he must work within. The methods of learning are also out of date and you must in the main tell the guys what to do, not guide them or allow them to figure it out. Apparently if you don't they do not know that know what you are talking about. I always thought that if a player started doing the right thing because of what Q's you asked or the design of the session that showed you knew your stuff.

F.A. = Farce Association. Its no wonder its all going wrong, even the tactics are out-dated with a normal 442 being the main formation coached.

Sadly that is not just football. Education as a whole is quite bad. Up until the end of this year, High School ICT students were still learning about floppy disks and reading from textbooks that describe DVDs as 'an emerging technology not yet adopted by the public.'

You seemed to have missed off the UEFA bit if his 'B' licence. FA coaching awards these days are only the starters and then you do the UEFA B, A and Pro I believe.

UEFA are issuing this material rather than the FA, although I imagine some of the FA reviewers are stuck in the dark ages.

I did some courses when they were still FA courses and the scientific side of it was fairly well developed then, that was 15 years ago.

Back on topic, I think the system we are playing, ie one up top means we need a striker who is prepared to work his ass off for little reward, who is going to be willing to do that?

I was surprised that diuof was not tried up front pre season seen as he has played there before. I think we could use him there, even playing with two up with Kalinic.

It seems a better option to me then some dross who we waste £2.5 to £3.5m on, keep our powder dry rather then waste it I say.

Having seen the Spanish B and the English B I do not believe they are standardised. I am under the impression certain things must be in the syllabus but as to what they are?? If they were all the same you would not see people going to different countries to do the licence's. The course my mate went on had 2 from sweden, 1 from hungary and a greek??? All said the English one was better than theirs.

Structure differs immensely between the countries as well. In England you get 1 week of coaches showing you sessions then you do yours. Contact time comes to 2 weeks, with only 2 practices before your assessment and all the answers given to you. In Spain you get 6 weeks contact time and are assessed at your club over a 1 year period, in England its about a 6 month period.

Tactics differ as well. He was instructed that the first thing you must look to do is hit it in behind, then the frontman and so on. If you don't do this you don't pass, I asked him why? He said we must get it forward quickly to score goals. I said OK, lets say we win it in our defensive 3rd, defence & midfield are deep and the strikers are 2 v 3 about 30-40 yards away from support, what do you do? He said you knock it in behind I said no you don't. You will lose possession most likely its 3 v 2 he said hit the frontman then, again I pointed out the numbers issue. He asked me what I would do I said retain the ball and move it forward quickly by getting my midfield to break into the space between theirs and the defence and work it forward. He did this in his session and got slated, he argued that he would have lost possession and set it up as they had suggested and low and behold he lost possession 3 times in a row. They said that's what you must do, regardless. Its absolutely shocking that coaches are being trained to play direct football as opposed to retaining the ball. When you do your A licence, they will teach you to do what I suggested, contradicting the previous licence. It makes no sense at all.

With the birth of all the new molecular physiology, the science that was around 15 years ago is defunct. I cannot believe they cannot keep it up to date, how hard is it really to do??? Having see the syllabus I would suggest it has not been up-dated since you took the badge, its the same as mine and I did it 6 years ago now. If I compare the science in the Spanish one to the English, one is about 2-3 years old the other well it recommends continuous running and the bleep test.

This is a hot topic at our uni, we have to spend the first year getting everyone up to standard. I know its off topic but when you have straights A's in the sciences and you don't even know what glycolysis is then I despair.

SAMASSA will be joining French side Arles on loan.

Why is SAM'S ASS joining Arles?
