Nicko, apologies if this question has already been asked but what exactly is Sam in the market for? Just the two strikers and a replacement for Grella if he leaves? Any chance of a new left back or does he see Olsson playing there in a 5-3-2? Also, whatever happened with Basturk?

Nicko, are we still interest in Marcus Pedersen and Jelavic? do you know who this mystery striker we have had a bid rejected for and put another bid in for him?

There are several strikers being looked at...the search is on for TWO...and I am not sure I believe there is a mystery striker who has been bid for from what I hear...all a bit too convenient.

Interesting comment! Do you think it is just talk or have Rovers more money available then they are revealing?

Two strikers? Surely our transfer budget must be bigger than first thought?

To be honest if we're playing one up top I'd rather get one £4m striker than two £2m strikers. We already have Kalinic and even if Niko and this new chap are both injured Roberts can have the odd good game, plus if we're really desperate can stick Diouf up there but it shouldnt come to that.

I sort of agree with that. We have Samba, Hoilett and Pedersen who can all deputise. One really good striker would be better than two mediocre ones.

If one of the strikers could also play out wide then that would make sense. Dindane would have been like that, for example.

If we are looking at two strikers then surely one of them will have to be a loan/freebie, we simply don't have the funds for two decent strikers.

How old are those quotes re takeover. I think they were everywhere else about nine days ago - slack, slack reporting . We all know due diligence has not been entered yet either. What we all want to know is who this mystery striker is - seems like bids have gone in

I think those comments from Sam are a couple of week's old. Or maybe it just feels that long... Zzzzz

Skysports have put it on their website today so i dunno if he said it again

Maybe JW and the trust are using Sam to give the people involved in the possible takeover a kick up the backside. It is possible that JW and the trust cannot really do it themselves, but push the manager forward to do it - who is still out of the uk.

Hope bloody so! Can't buy a quality striker for 2.5 million pounds. Think Nicko said between 4 to 5 million. I hope we sign Marcus Pedersen and maybe Jo on loan!

Just checked the fixtures for the first time (that's how excited I am for the coming season) and seen that I will miss 4 home games because of holidays including the first 2. I will actually use my season ticket for the first time on September 18th.

I'm not bothered in the slightest.

The whole takeover farce, zero transfer activity, the Premier League circus, Sam Allardyce?! the list is endless to what has led to your lack of motivation.

I can see where you are coming from, I don't think football fans have ever felt as detached and dissilusioned with the game as they currently are.. BUT it is the love of this football club that motivates me. It is a proper football club that looks after its supporters, you actually feel part of something at Ewood, a club that consistently defies the financial odds.

Players and managers are pretty much all mercenaries, they help the club achieve and then move on, fine by me.

Well at least people are moving away from our priority being a midfielder, that was prevalent for a lot of the summer. But C'mon, - Samba, Hoilett and Pedersen can play centre forward?

<_<

Don't people love being victims... Ffs man get a grip, we are punching well above our weight, in every possible way!!

We follow a great club at league 1 prices..

I have 3 sons, two of which are old enough to come to the rovers and I for one will ensure they value what they got.. Cos I certainly do...

Well it is hardly ideal but Hoilett is a centre forward, Samba has done well there before, Pedersen can play supporting striker. The point was if we have Kalinic, Roberts and AN Other (who is very good) then we can use those three as deputies so we only really need one very good striker as opposed to two mediocre ones.

Not suggesting we should view them as anything other than emergency choices.

Hoilett is a centre forward? Please explain, because he's only ever played that role once as long as I've been watching rovers and that was at Deepdale a couple of weeks ago. He patently has nothing going for him at all when it comes to being a centre forward. Samba has done well there before - when? At Liverpool he was embarrassing. Pedersen can't play centre forward.

We have two strikers currently at the club. These last few games we have had no out and out striker to field, so one more clearly isn't enough. The often used argument that we only play one up front, as a back up to the "we only need three strikers" argument doesn't wash either, because we regularly had two, sometimes three strikers on the pitch, at the same time, last season. There's absolutely no reason why we shouldn't have what other PL clubs have - a minimum of four strikers on the books. Well there is a reason actually, lack of funds and bad management.

I've got two kids and a wife who all have season tickets for the club 'we all love', but I won't try to whip them into some sort of excited frenzy in the name of value and 'punching above our weight'. They're old enough to know what is entertaining and not so when they say 'Dad, this is rubbish' I'm hardly going to jump on them for it when they're invariably correct in that assessment.

Hardly makes me a victim - I've never turned my back on the club and never will- I'm just very demotivated at the way football in general is going.
