Hoilett is a centre forward? Please explain, because he's only ever played that role once as long as I've been watching rovers and that was at Deepdale a couple of weeks ago. He patently has nothing going for him at all when it comes to being a centre forward. Samba has done well there before - when? At Liverpool he was embarrassing. Pedersen can't play centre forward.

We have two strikers currently at the club. These last few games we have had no out and out striker to field, so one more clearly isn't enough. The often used argument that we only play one up front, as a back up to the "we only need three strikers" argument doesn't wash either, because we regularly had two, sometimes three strikers on the pitch, at the same time, last season. There's absolutely no reason why we shouldn't have what other PL clubs have - a minimum of four strikers on the books. Well there is a reason actually, lack of funds and bad management.

Samba was poor at liverpool but at other games he did okay. Pedersen can play just behind a proper striker and scored a few goals last season just doing that when Dunn was injured, Hoilett is a player who is coming on and, I hope,l we could have him as fourth centre forward.

I agree whoever comes in needs to be an 'out and out' striker. I am not saying it is ideal but if the choice is between a couple of average players and one good one then I would go for the one good one as we have other players who can do an average job.

Nicko, may one of the strikers being watched Deniz Yilmaz from Bayern Munich?

Is he actually playing for anyone? Serious question.

Steadinho's available for 250k :tu:

Don't know what age or condition he is in just now, but he did it for us once..........who's to say he couldn't do it again?

Jon Stead?

Had a look at his goal tally since leaving us, it's a lot poorer than I thought it'd be. Surely there are better lower-league options available?

You are probably right. I have absolutely no idea about anything re-Jon Stead since he left us. It was just a throw away comment for anyone with up to date info to come back on.

I was joking really, but he's better than some of the dross we've been linked to (Benjani).

He's actually one of Ipswich's better players, but Keane just doesn't get on with him. I think Championship is his level, at 27 he isn't going to get much better ability wise.

I used to say this. I've come to realise that if this statement is true, then it can be said for half of the Premier League.

Yeah, the half we usually finish above.

Not the worst idea I've come across.

If we are looking at two strikers then I'd be happy for to be fourth choice. I think.

The boy Hooper who I was hoping we signed got his first goal yesterday against decent opposition in Lyon. He'll be one of the top scorers in the Scottish League this year.

It is only on pure finance that the 'punching above our weight' statement is true.

Of course, cash is king, but the fact the club is excellently run from JW down helps massively.

The club is stable and Brockhall/Ewood is evidently a good environment.

We are just forever destined to be constrained by our geography/demographics.

Is this the more prolific striker we are currently linked to and possibly made enquiries for?

If we were even close to signing this player, I would smile 24/7.. He is great! Cant see us having enough money to afford him tough. But every time Ive seen him, he has impressed me. Pretty sure he will be playing for France this season, now when all players from the World Cup are being suspended.

I liked Hooper also. And the price was decent.

Nicko? I saw that Arsenal were considering loaning out Jay Emanuel Thomas to Milwall? Is this true? After what Ive seen he have to be good enough for Premier League.. But with Arsene Wengers bad relationship with Big Sam, I dont even dare to dream about a loan signing from that club..

Gameiro? No way can we afford him. One of the hottest prospects in France. Marseille, Lyon and the lot will be all over him before us.

who can we afford ????? and more to the point have the indians even got the money to buy the club let alone release funds for players,,,we dont want to be in a situation where they borrow to buy the club

The total apology for an 11 o'clocker...

I'm not even writing this, but I have heard once again from TWO sources tonight that Grella to Galatasaray WILL happen and very shortly.

This should all become clearer as the week unfolds.

I believe someone else has news on a striker [previously mentioned]...please post what you PM'd me.
