Exiled_Rover Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Jo reminds me of Wanchope. Gangly striker who doesn't quite know where the ball is going, but is effective anyway.

Plastic Head Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 What's your thoughts on us not making a move for Kone. He'll give the club a lift.
philipl Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 What is the low down on Jo's nationality/visa situation?
Iceman Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 What is the low down on Jo's nationality/visa situation? I think we would have to get a work permit for him, but im not sure on that.
den Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I'd be pleased with Jo. He had a great record in Russia, before losing his way at Man. City, but did well in his first season at Everton. Also, at 23, he's got plenty of potential and is the type of project Rovers are famous for. A great record where? He didn't "lose" his way at Man City either, Topman, he was downright useless from the off.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Torn over whether Jo would be a good signing or not. We do need a striker and he is young so there would be a re-sale value there if he fulfils some of the potential some believe he has. On the other hand this is a guy who Moyes decided to get rid of because he missed training twice and was deemed to be a disruptive individual: "Jo didn't come in over Christmas so we fined and suspended him," said Moyes. "I brought him back in, spoke to him and explained to the players I was going to give him another chance and he came and trained with us last week. "And then he didn't turn up for training on Monday again so I don't know how many more chances I can give people. "I thought it was only the going to be disruptive to the players, who thought it was the right thing to bring him back after his suspension. But when he never came in to work on Monday that was the final straw." Source: http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/clubfootball/news/newsid=1160784.html Is this the type of individual we really want at the club? Especially when our financial constraints could mean a difficult season and one where we fight for our lives yet again?
T4E Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 He'll give the club a lift. That joke should elevate spirits.
Balwer Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 From the club that brought you such model citizens as Savage, Bellamy and Diouf, introducing Jo.....
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 From the club that brought you such model citizens as Savage, Bellamy and Diouf, introducing Jo..... Did any of them miss training and go awol?
Balwer Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Did any of them miss training and go awol? Not to my knowledge, but I was inferring that we've had players before who've had fairly obvious flaws in one way or another.
LeChuck Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 A great record where? He didn't "lose" his way at Man City either, Topman, he was downright useless from the off. 30 goals in 52 games for CSKA Moscow is a great record. The Russian league is a good league so he must have ability. His first stint at Everton was very good, that's why they got him back for a second (less successful spell). His record in Russia, his first spell at Everton and the fact that he has 3 Brazilian caps at a young age shows there is talent there. He's exactly the sort of wayward talent we usually excel at rejuvenating.
Will Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 City lads at work think it is amusing we might sign Jo. Useless, lazy, @#/?, were a few words used.
SergioPeter89 Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 City lads at work think it is amusing we might sign Jo. Useless, lazy, @#/?, were a few words used. Funny, considering thats what I think about City-fans...
Ewoodite Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Id'd rather see Unleaded versus Cryer Could well be they are both right to be fair. All LT reporting is that Gala have not contacted Rovers about Vinny yet. Doesn't mean they haven't started to speak to him though does it??
Mafioso Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 City lads at work think it is amusing we might sign Jo. Useless, lazy, @#/?, were a few words used. Coming from a team that can afford to loan out Robinho and still have a world class attack, im not surprised they would say that. How Jo plays for us may be a different thing all together.
waggy Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 thank god im going to turkey today, saturday week might get messy
den Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Coming from a team that can afford to loan out Robinho and still have a world class attack, im not surprised they would say that. They're right though. That's how he was for them.
Iceman Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Jo 2005–2008 CSKA Moscow 53 (30 ) Vagner love 2004– CSKA Moscow 119 (62) If only we could get both of them, because they were a fantastic partnership. At the time, i said City signed the wrong striker from CSKA. I always thought Vagner Love was the better of the 2.

Backroom Tom Posted August 2, 2010 Backroom Posted August 2, 2010 People will criticise the move if it happens but I havnt seen many more viable options
Will Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 of course they will. I would love him to do brilliantly for us. Just have a doubt. He did nothing at Everton.

Amo Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 of course they will. I would love him to do brilliantly for us. Just have a doubt. He did nothing at Everton. Almost a goal every two games in his first stint.
Will Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 5 goals in 12 games, then 0 in 15 games. Like i said, i hope he does well, but i just cant see it. He also went AWOL at Everton and was suspended.
LeChuck Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 He does fit the bill. Goalscorer who has lost his way with a potential resale value Plus he's 6'2 so suited for our style. He's obviously not going to play like Kevin Davies, but he did show examples of good target man play at Everton. His debut goal in particular was brilliant - he showed great strength and technique to turn the defender and fire in on the volley. If Sam managed fit Anelka into his style of play then I'm sure he can do it with Jo.
