Dunn and Grella have talent but their careers have been held back by injury. Vaughan seems to be another - with a limited budget can we risk having another crock on the books. ?.

I repeat what I said - Moyes is a good judge of a player and he's happy to tip him overboard.

,

With a limited budget can we afford to buy a risk free player?

Whether it's risk of being injured, having a poor temperament or generally just being @#/?..there's little difference in my mind between a player who's permanently injured and a player who ends up being too rubbish to make the first team.

Which £1.5 million will more often than not buy you when you're looking for a striker.

Well it looks like this confirms the signing of Vaughan and that Grella is staying put.

IF true, then this is extremely concerning, our premiership future is well and truly on the line.

These players arent good enough !

So much for being a potential England manager maybe i've more chance :)

funny that i could have sworn we finished 10th with the Exact team that we have now, as always the time to judge begins when the window closes.

For the record Vaughan looks a talented player and may be worth 1 million, remember Saha moved to Everton for a minor fee due to his injuries and he turned out great- Vaughans talent is not in doubt so if he can pass medical then could work out for us.

Yes, Messi! The only viable alternative to signing Everton's cast-offs!

Name me all the great strikers available for £1.5 million.

In fact, name me the last time a team signed a striker for £1.5 million who turned out to be a success.

I know we've got more to spend than that but we probably will need other signings too so that's the kind of figure we're looking at.

Some Everton fan(s) don't want him to leave:http://www.everton.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=207246

Looking at his stats (64 games, 10 goals) he will be a risk, but if he stays fit he's obviously got potential.

If only we already had a 22 year-old striker who stayed fit and scored goals (54 in 143 games)....bring back Derbs!

Er...Derbs had 10 goals in 63 league games for Rovers.

The wikipedia total says 54, of course if you add up all the individual seasons (including the loan to Wrexham) then it's only 43.

By that logic, what's the point of signing him? To make up the numbers? The only way he'll do that is in the treatment room.

In what way? If he hasn't been starting then he hasn't been good enough for their starting XI.

Didn´t mean that way. His stats are only a part of why I think he is good enough for Rovers. I´ve seen him playing and he has potential. And he is still very young and a injury free season could mean a breakthrough. We would still need one more expienced striker.

Because he might turn out to be useful. If he stays injury free then he's clearly a talented player with the kind of pace we need in our side. And hopefully a medical would scout out some of the issues and stop us from signing a complete crock.

I'm not hearing many better alternatives.

The problem with Vaughan is his own courage. He gets the tackles in. But if Rovers played him as the loan striker and did their upmost to protect him on the field, then he would score quite a few goals and hopfully stay injury free. We have to bear in mind the way Sam has Rovers playing. Also how many players has Sam helped extend their careers - could he not do something simular with Vaughan.
