Looks like it. Unfortunately. Not the best in my view.

8 goals in not that many starts last season. I'll take that. I don't see that many better options that clubs like ourselves can afford knocking around. Good lad in the dressing room supposedly as well if that cliche counts for anything!

I'll be pleased if he comes back.

Vaughan for Everton

46 Games - 38 as sub

Started 8 games – scored a total of 7 goals

Youngest player to ever score in the prem….Now just 22 years old

His last start for Everton was in the cup against Carlisle – He scored 1

In 09/10 He got 52 minutes as sub, split over 5 games = ave 10 mins a game - he managed 1 league goal

In 08/09 he started just 2 games – playing a total of 141 minutes, scoring 0 goals

In 08/09 he got 127 minutes as sub, split over 11 games = ave 11 mins a game – he scored 0 goals & got 1 assist.

In 07/08 he got 150 mins as sub, split over 7 games = ave of 21 mins a game - he managed 1 goal

So in the last 3 seasons as a sub he has appeared 23 times, but just a total of 329 mins (ave of 14 mins a time)…..now if your only getting a sub appearance here n there, then it is VERY difficult to gain any momentum…whether it be through Injury or because he simply wasn’t given a sustained chance in the team…..IF he passes his medical fine, then im sure if he is given time he will soon become a player who is worth far in excess of the £1.5m being quoted.

unless the medical consists of an army assault course and being sujected to some hard tackles...

Best. Idea. Ever.

At least for a reality TV show. Think about the ratings for that, putting just retired famous footballers through that sort of test.

Didn´t mean that way. His stats are only a part of why I think he is good enough for Rovers. I´ve seen him playing and he has potential. And he is still very young and a injury free season could mean a breakthrough. We would still need one more expienced striker.

I agree he looked exciting when he first "burst" onto the scene, but countless injuries later he's fast becoming a crock (at 22). As long as he's meant to be a replacement for Roberts then I won't whine too much about it, but I still feel we should keep what we have and spend what little money we have on one new goalscorer.

I like Vaughan's energy though, hard not to like players like that when playing for your team :)

And the main target is...

Oh, still not named the mystery chap.

How strange.

To be fair though Nicko Andy Cryer works for a little local newspaper. You are working for a large national newspaper must have more contacts than he does and you dont know either

True, but Andy Cryer has one focus only (to my knowledge) and that's Blackburn, whereas Nicko has a broader coverage of the league, so that does balance itself out a bit...

The report in the LET said the club do not want the target named as this would alert rivals. To me Cryer probably does know the target but why would he reveal it? Recently his stories have been fairly accurate then followed up by quotes.

It's a Premier League club...far from 'little.'

I can only tell you who I know Rovers are chasing - probably miss plenty of targets myself. I think I have named most of the ones that have been chased - Lewandowski, Dindane, Piquionne - and the ones who have come up lately in Heskey, Jo and now Vaughan.

But just taking the party line from the club is tedious.

There is a lot happening right now and all I read about from the local paper is denials and 'mystery targets.'

Yeah and with his broader knowledge should have more information coming to him from the other clubs Andy Cryer will only hear what is coming out of Rovers whereas Nicko should be hearing what is coming out of lots of other clubs

My Post states that he works for a little paper not a little club

Yeah...and nobody is admitting to be the 'mystery seller' I should add...

If ToffeeWeb is correct:

-Serious knee injury in Sept 2005 on under-19 England duty. Knee Surgery required.

-Knee breaks down again in 2006 not once but twice.

-Finally goes to Steadman for further surgery on his knee in 2006.

-March 2008, knee locks up in training, goes back to Steadman and has another operation.

-Start of 2008-09 season, more knee problems= surgery again.

22 years old and four knee operations. I'm no doctor but surely with the number of surgeries he has had over a period of time there is something wrong with his knees, whether that's down to some form of genetic weakness or an underlying condition. I read somewhere that he was at the time one of the fastest youngsters in the country, perhaps his build was more suited to athletics rather than the rough and tumble world of a professional footballer?

I'm expecting a load of the posts about me being a pessimist, negative person or a moaner but when i see us looking at a player who has had some many serious injuries at a young age, its got danger signs and 'don't do it' written all over it.
