Do we know why things are bad between Roberts and Dr Sam or is it just a case of the Dr not rating Roberts?

I'd say it's kind of obvious they've never really been best mates. Roberts likes a strike partner. Big Sam likes one up front. And strikers who can score goals. Plus J-Rob is getting on a bit and definitely isn't improving with age. Top bloke, just can't finish.

I do like the Keane rumour - it also suggests the continued variation, that seemed to start in January for me, from the football with which Sam has been associated as Keane is not the kind of player to spearhead a long-ball team but would relish the passing play of which Dunn/Pedersen/Emerton and N'Zonzi are capable. Please let it be true

I imagine Keane is out of our price range. Oh and he'd play the Dunn role in the current formation - linking the attack to the midfield and feeding off the striker.

YET AGAIN WHY WOULD HE LIE TO ME!!! HE'S A FRIEND. YOUR FRIENDS MUST LIE TO YOU COS MY FRIENDS DONT TELL ME LIES!!!

Nicko, not surprise that we are trying to get rid of Roberts!!! Roberts and Grella set to leave now then?

Sam - So John, Here is the striker. It's Robbie Keane, I think he'll be available but we better move quickly.

John W - Ha! Get real Sam, it'll take the board at least three weeks to decide. Let's keep it secret for the time being.

Board - Let's make a bid, but until we know, no media interest. It could really screw this up for us.

John W - Mum's the word!

Board - 'LOL' He totally fell for that! Let's tell our friends so they can post it all over messageboards.

Any idea what our asking price is?

JR will be leaving on a free most likely. That's what's being talked about at the moment. There's no rift between the player and the manager though. If anything they're in full agreement about the future!

Icers you say the new striker is Burundi that would suggest to me from Burundi in the Congo and there is only 1 striker that fits the profile. I would be happy if it's who I think it is we could have our fave chants all over again what's that coming over the hill S.Nonda. Is it him or another you have heard of?. I would quite like him back a very good scoring record wherever he has played.

I said the same yesterday! mate told me that he's the one we have put a bid in for him! He's knows alot of people at Rovers including people on the BOARD!!! Ask him today and he's said its true that we have.

Seriously. Shut up. If you had a mate in the know you wouldn't feel the need to ask nicko the most inane questions ever about fourteen million times a day.

I heard we were after John Marston.

I think he could do a job for us

I can see the potential, he has a good shot on him. A real eye for the target.

Do you know who our stiker targets are Tony? Are we closing in on them :P

has anything happened yet that wouldn't be have been told to us 24 hours after it would have happened?

and if it wasn't was it worth hearing?

any major breakthroughs we hear anyway so it all becomes pointless once it's known a few hours later. this messageboard is just a tool for idiots to spout their foolish opinions and people in the know pushing around speculation (which i guess is needed to find out information) in order to network

Wrong. Sam signed Jacobsen, Salgado THEN Chimbonda.

You are correct. My memory was wrong.

£2.5m + wages for a "defensive stopgap". Yes, brilliant business there. How about investing that money towards a specialist left-back?

Actually, I think Sam did a magnificent job with the defense this last year. The fact that he did not use all the resources available to him does not detract from that.

And Chimbonda scored against Burnley. I thought that counted for something in your neck of the woods.

Everyone needs a hobby, purchasing right backs is as good as any.

If buying one more RB than we need keeps Sam happy, I'm all for it.

Well on our budget were not going to bring in a full proven, in form, clean injury record striker. We have to take a gamble somewhere to get somebody in, either on the inexperience of Mame Diouf or the untapped 'potential' of Vaughn/Utaka.

You hit the nail on the head. Though if we get bought by Ahasan Ali Syed, and if he really has 300 million to invest in the club (2 big ifs) we will be signing stars and challenging for Europe again. :tu:

If I'm not wrong, then we purchased Jacobsen before we let go of Warnock? It's fair to say that RB was our priority at that point with Ooijer having gone and not having anyone to play that position except for the then-injured Emerton (who also happened to be our first choice right winger).

Jacobsen was always going to need competition for the spot. Salgado was providing that, but given Jacobsen's injuries and Salgado's age, it's a good thing we also had Chimbonda for cover in that position, as he also proved backup at LB and CB as well. One of the few players in our team who can play a role anywhere in the back line. We had Givet and Olsson at LB, so didn't particularly need to sign a "specialist left back".

Can't really fault Sam's defensive choices or purchases. Unfortunately he wasn't as successful at bringing in some decent midfielders or attackers.
