Bye bye, Jacobsen. Average right-back who hardly played last year. If we can find a home for Chimbonda too, that would be luverly.

Then we would need a defender for back up!! Jacobsen always played well when he play for us but got injured and lost him place in the team!

Nicko, how many Strikers are we watching at the minute?

Off on a tangent:

A Tribalfootball link from that Jacobson piece has Wigan with the cheapest season tickets in the league and 6th cheapest of the 92. A quick check on Rovers' site and I can buy one instantly for £150. That would make it £80 cheaper than the second cheapest in the entire football league!

I saw that then upon inspection... those prices are for the best seats in the stadium ie. JW upper at Ewood. Are they 350?

Still very cheap!

£395 apparently. Though the Rovers site would sell me one for £369. Still, if we're going on the cheapest then we must be up there with the Darwen end offer.

Not technically a season ticket though is it?

You can't compare something that offers less games no matter how good an offer it is

what is going on at blackpool can't believe they haven't signed anyone.

Have they already got the white flag waving

There was some sort of suggestion on Talksport tonight they were signing Scott Sinclair. (Whoever he is)

Would that leave us as the only Premiership side not to make a signing?

I agree. I thought Jacobsen did well last season before his injury. He was keeping Salgado out of the team. I would much prefer it of Chimbonda left. But if no one is interested in Chimbonda, then I suppose it is better for the wage bill if someone leaves. I do think we need two specialist right backs.

Mr Nixon, City have become experts in the wasting of money.

Currently, imo they have wasted around £150m of cash by winning the square root of faff all on a poor effort of securing success. Now we await Mankini's attempts at wastage and on the evidence of his buys so far he wont be found wanting.

City have become a powerhouse in the spending stakes but rank amateurs in buying success whilst splashing the dosh. Even Barca must be creaming themselves for taking £24m for yaya or is it haha toure !!!

To be fair this is Mancini's first full season, let's judge on the end result. Yaya Toure is class, whils the weekly wage is unbelievably crazy he is very very good. Most midfeilders would sit on the Barca bench.

Wasn't that long ago people were laughing at Chelsea for spending such and obscene amount of money on a French striker no one thought was worth it.

Im trying to think, of the players linked who we would go back in and make an improved offer for.

The ones I can think of is

Jo

Beattie

Jelevic

Bance

Vaughn

Tuncay

The ones it wont be is

Benjani, I think he is a free agent

Diouf(will only be a loan option)

I have this bad feeling, that it is Beattie, but hoping that it is either Jelevic, Jo or Tuncay

Isn't India the fastest growing economy in the World? So if football is the fastest growing sport in the fastest growing economy in the World - there is huge potential we can tap into right there. Sure the likes of United, Liverpool and Chelsea will be the most attractive teams, but if he can make Rovers a succesful club with Indian owners - we could get a big following out there. With a population about 22 times that of England - that's a lot of potential shirt sales in the future :)

Jelavic future decided today?

I hope we are also in the mix for him. Only 15-000 p/w.

Well we lost Reid who was on around £30k a week....so if we bring in someone on 15k a week - we would be saving £2.34m over the course of say a 3 year deal.

£3.5m to buy him.....with £15k a week (say a 3 year deal) = £5.84m total package

Someone like Jo - who would comand at least a £35k a week deal (based on 3 year contract) = £5.46m before we pay a fee.

Which would you choose?!

LT reports the Lecce interest in Jacob, it also suggests quite a few teams in Holland & Germany are monitoring him too

If Rangers can only pay £15k/w, it doesn't mean Jelavic would be on the same wages here. Hajduk reported that Kalinic would get €30k/w, so I would imagine Jelavic would be looking for the similar £25k/w here.
