Amo Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Completely agree. No one's interested in Chimbonda, and not likely to be when he's on full whack. If we can sell any one of those surplus right-backs, we should.

thenodrog Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Starting to think I didn't miss that much. Me too....... the minute 300m investment was mentioned.
nicko Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Oh dear it's totally been made up hasnt it? I don't think it's totally made up, but a few things don't stack up. Yet. Got to say that the current transfer activity suggests the club don't see it happening soon as they are doing their best to juggle sand and bring in players. However, it would be for the best if the interest was real.
rebelmswar Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Some would say it's called Football Manager.... Some might say that it is Worldwide football S0cc3r Manager. Or of course, you could go and tell it to the man that cannot shine.

That's like saying 'let's sell our only fit striker'... Seriously though, even if we can't sell Chimbonda, let's not cut off our nose to spite our face by selling Lars instead. Surely we'd be better off (as a squad) by having Chimbonda in the reserves (or as stand-in left back) than getting rid of Jacobsen (a good, solid pro by the way) just to reduce the wage bill. Both are average players and contributed very little last season. How many games did Jacobsen play? We have Salgado at right-back, Emerton too, and don't forget young Ramm.
Backroom Tom Posted August 6, 2010 Backroom Posted August 6, 2010 The 11 o clocker sounds ominous but I'll Still hold out some false hope of good news.

Although he's a possible option at left back, a benched Chimbonda would create waves. Plus we have other options at left back anyway. I seem to remember Chimbonda being left out quite a lot last season too.
ChesterRover Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Is it worth a tenner on Santa Cruz coming back Nicko? 8-1 on Skybet!
Stuart Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Is it worth a tenner on Santa Cruz coming back Nicko? 8-1 on Skybet! Might be better sticking your money on him going to Fulham. Or giving it to me...!
blue/white Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 I'm hoping for either Jo or Moa - need to average out the amount I spent on my Villanueva shirt a couple years back! Oh that one worked out well for ya'. Donde esta Carlos??? ESe si desaparecio, eh?

It's arguably his best position for Rovers, and selling Jacobsen would free up another wage. It all adds up, you know. I don't want to keep Chimbonda, I'm saying that if there's a buyer for one of them we should take it. There's no interest in Chimbonda, therefore we're stuck with him. He's obviously on a sweet deal here, because he usually he can't wait to high-tail it out of clubs.
Doaksie Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 He's obviously on a sweet deal here, because he usually he can't wait to high-tail it out of clubs. Big wages for average players - it's fast becoming our speciality subject!
broadsword Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Headline on official site: "Morten happy with settled squad " rejoice, rejoice!

He's obviously on a sweet deal here, because he usually he can't wait to high-tail it out of clubs. Fair enough about Chimbonda. And I can see your point about cashing in a right back but I do think that we have plenty of makeshift understudies - across the squad (Jacks of all trades, masters of none (like Andrews as a stand-in midfielder). Assuming Chimbonda CANNOT be sold for any price and if it's about freeing up a wage, let's cut our losses on him (and Andrews) and let the leave on frees. Possibly even sell Emerton or cash in on Nelsen. Those two are only going to depreciate. Can we convince/afford anyone better to come in though? (rhetorical question). Despite everything I've said, I've almost talked myself into agreeing with you. It's just if I had to put my faith in someone I'd rather be relying on Lars than Pascal.
chaddyrovers Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 wonder if Danny Graham of Watford is a good shout to sign for us!!!
chaddyrovers Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 I heard it's Robbie Keane Another DIG at me again!!!!!!!!
BuckyRover Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 I'm just saying what I heard. This is a message board
Greedy_Crawford Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Chimbonda clearly hasn't spent all his signing on fee yet, therefore does feel the need to "look" for a move. Would be happy to get shut. But as on £25-30k a week that's unlikely to happen. Has the feeling of the strangest transfer window for years. Agree with Nicko post earlier that there a number of clubs trying to do deals who are either broke or should know better. Can see why we look such a good investment. There's a number of crap players available, most of them for daft money (whether that's fees, wages or both).
chaddyrovers Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 I'm just saying what I heard. This is a message board Ok. I said the same on Monday! My mate still say the same today to me, when i ask him! Are you serious or not???
chaddyrovers Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Wonder what Nicko news is? Is a player we are looking at?
Hi Mack Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Wonder what Nicko news is? Is a player we are looking at? I can Imagine...Diouf deal not done(yet)......Roberts to WBA tomorrow....Beattie on his way with Moa. Total guess mind! Got a funny feeling a bid might have been made for Samba/Jones/Robinson!
