Reo Coker for 1M is a great deal, the right age and definitely better than anything we already have. Makes Grella's fee look ridiculous tho if it is to happen.

Oh and this would surely push Andrews to 3rd/4th choice def/mid or even better 4th/5th choice RB?

If by the end of this window we have shipped out Grella, Zurab, Roberts & Chimbonda/Jacobsen and brought in M B Diouf, Reo Coker and another Striker (or two) then yeah happy happy days!

Di Santo out > Diouf in = Improvement

Now can we follow the same idea with the following please..........

Roberts >

Grella >

Jacobsen >

If we sign Reo-Coker, then thats Grella replaced(Reid didnt play anyway he dosent need replacing). Jacobsen dosent need replacing, although id rather get rid of Chimbonda(its clear noone wants him). Reo-Coker and 1/2 strikers is enough

Reo Coker would be a good signing for you imo. He has probably been forced to swallow his pride and wind his neck in as his career hasn't quite progressed as he expected and indeed told all and sundry it would. Great engine, combative and quite disciplined on the pitch. Appalling passing means he will never make it at the top, top level but he is young enough and probably wants to prove a few things. I enjoyed watching him as he was a good leader on the pitch, but didn't like what he became- arrogant and believed his own hype a bit too much.

Good signing for all concerned I reckon...

With moneybags Pedersen on the bench? Despite being one of Sam's "priorities" this season?

No need for Tuncay. We need someone who's gonna put the ball in the back of the net.

Pedersen would play (i wouldn't pick him if that side was available ;))probably on the left wing replacing Olsson i would have thought if we did bring in Reo-Coker, or in place of the injured Dunny.

I am very sceptical that Reo-Coker would come here, other clubs bound to be sniffing that can offer a better deal.

A central Midfield of N'Zonzi and Reo-Coker would be by far the strongest central midfield combo we could put out IMO.

Id say Pedersen would most likely be put out on the right if anywhere, Sam played him there a couple of times towards the end of the season and we could keep Olsson in the side

It looks like he wants to play central... I think he played well last season when he played as a central mid...

Reo Coker would be a definite improvement on most of our current midfield.

An interesting recent quote though which I had remembered and hunted down,(from only a couple of months ago):

According to the Press Association, a source close to Reo-Coker said: "Nigel loves playing at the club and enjoys being at Aston Villa. At the moment he is planning to return for pre-season, but anything can happen in football.

"It has become obvious that he is available for transfer but it is too early for that and any move would have to suit Nigel and be right for the player.

"He likes the club and wants to stay. He had the chance to go to Blackburn on loan but it wasn't right for him so he didn't go.

"He has a good relationship with the fans at Aston Villa and is prepared to challenge for his place."

Oh, and if you want to ruin your evening like I just have mine, then google 'Nigel Reo Coker' and simply observe the first image.

Pederson will play centre mid, he is all excited about the role and if he isnt there I expect him to be playing the hole if Dunny is injured.

Pederson, Nzonzi and Reo Coker in the middle of the park fills me with confidence more than Andrews, Grella and Nzonzi.

Not overwhelmed with reo coker, not a renowned passer by any means and not too great at getting goals?

Hope I'm wrong just really feels like taking another clubs problem player.

We wouldn't get Ireland. But that is the style of midfield player we are desperate for must be a cheap foreign gamble in that mould somewhere in the world. Where is that ibaric or whatever his name is from hadjuk these days

How things change???

When Reo-Coker has been linked over the last couple of seasons, very few have liked the idea. Our midfield is bereft of anything that resembles creativity... although Reo-Coker is not the most creative, he is all action... willing to drive froward with the ball, and not too scared to pass it forward either. I think for £1m we can't afford to let him slip by, 2 good seasons & he's a £6m or £7m player on the fringes of the england squad. No matter what, this is a business opportunity more than a chance to sign a good player... we are lucky that he's a proven prem player to boot... it's a no brainer!!!

As far as Tuncay is concerned, I hope that Sam is'nt looking at him as an answer to our goal scoring problems. He couldn't finish a mars bar... but what he has got is a good turn of pace, more acceleration than top end speed, but in a tight situation & to get that half a yard, thats all you need, a good brain on him & vision to pick out a pass, a little bit of quality on the ball, but the one thing that when watching him gets you on the edge of your seat, the ability to do that unexpected little bit of magic that can unlock defences. I see him as more of a attacking midfielder, either coming in from wide positions or playing in the hole. I think he could even play the Tugay role deeper in midfield, clearly this one depends on price!!!

Roberts, Grella and one of the fullbacks out (Chimbonda or Jacobsen)... Diouf, Tuncay, Reo-Coker & a main striker in... we will be challenging for Europe!!!

Reo Coker over Faty and Teymourian And Tuncay over Moa for me. Both players have PL experience, and would be best to improve the squad.

I'm not sure you could say Tuncay has enough prem experience, at least not in his best position, he is a good footballer but he isnt an out and out goalscorer, I dont think its him we are looking at in all honesty.

I think the bids were for Jelavic and we didnt come close to their valuation of him, he only has 1 year left on his contract and they still rejected 3.5 from Rangers, I think he is dead in the water now.

How reliable can that Tuncay link be really? Look at the last paragraph!

"Former Blackburn target Aiden McGeady’s transfer to Spartak Moscow moved closer last night, with Celtic eyeing winger James McFadden from Everton as his replacement. McFadden played for arch-rivals Rangers

He played for Everton 3 years ago and Mcgeady is 9M+ and we've been linked?:lol:

Someone pays this fool to write these stories!

Hughesy, I don't know what it is about your posts....maybe it is the sheer number of them, or perhaps it's just that you type what ever is going on in your head at the time but they really wind me up!

We haven't bought Reo Coker and probably won't. Diouf is completely unproven at this level. I am sick and tired of people listing players they want out...you can list players you don't like but that doesnt mean that anyone else will part with cash for them! I can't really understand why anyone wants Roberts out unless we sign anyone clearly better. Diouf is not clearly better. Roberts is proven as a hard worker at this level and will get you the odd goal. When fit, Grella is more than useful and I'd probably prefer Jacobsen that Chimbonda at RB.

So if you could just make your posts relevant and concise too, that would make me happy. Along with a big glass of water with an alka seltzer :)

Maybe you should take a leaf out of your own supposed book, mate. He was talking about Diouf being an improvement on Di Santo, not on Roberts, and suggesting we replace Roberts with somebody who IS better. He is also clearly aware we haven't signed Reo Coker, as we all are, he is just praising the idea, which is his right. Saying "When fit" and "Grella" in the same sentence is kinda like putting "Charity work" and "Hitler" in the same sentence. You've asked him to be concise, then made a much longer post in response. And finally, you've said we can't choose who we attract buyers for, then say it is better to sell Chimbonda, who we have had NO known interest in.

I don't know what it is about people sniping and deriding others views needlessly on this board, but when they do it inclines me to point out their own stupidity/hypocrisy.

Still laughing for Reo-Coker when he didn´t celebrate his goal against ManUtd. I think his transfer fee was supposed to be something between £15M-£20M then. Not my favourite player but if the fee is really £1M we should definitely go for him. I think Sam will use that money for a midfielder. Plan B is Faty. Does anyone know how has he done so far?
