Got to agree with you there John but nicko has to be favourable towards his mate. Think petrov will be good for botlon though and I imagine them to be safe if nor spectacular next season.

Of course he is going to be. He bigged up every one of Burnley's summer signings as steals and bargains. We see how well those worked out (Fletcher excluded).

As a Bolton fan I'm keeping my fingers crossed over Petrov. We seem to have many deals collapse late on (probably all clubs do you just notice it with your own).

However, I don't think you Rovers fans need worry. You'll be fine with Sam. Trust me your summer so far is very much like all the ones we had when he was here.

You'll get some sort of striker (there does seem to be a dearth of striking talent though if the WC is anything to go by) and I think you'll get Guti in the end if Sams track record is anything to go by.

You finished on over 50 points last season, you'll be nowhere near going down, from an outsiders persepctive at least!

Petrov's wages are quite high but not ridiculous. Possibly less than a left winger on your own books...

The reason he wants to go there is because they play football.

So what are Petrovs wages?! Because I cant see you being right on that one.

On the 2nd part - Bolton play football?!? What with big Kev upfront?!

Seem to remember Dindane was a three horse race at the end, Rovers, Wolves and the Qatar club, Wolves have since signed Fletcher, could be someone totally new of course, even though Nicko is on holiday and probably off the radar on all current goings on, no doubt he will now be some digging. ;)

Dindane looks completely anonymous against Brazil, similarly to when he played against Chelsea in the final, and similarly against Rovers. A pattern emerges just hope the dud ends up bleeding someone else dry than Rovers.

Aston Villa will try and persuade Martin Petrov to join them ahead of Bolton after last-ditch talks.

Blackburn have also offered terms to the Bulgaria winger, who is a free agent after being released by Manchester City.

Not sure whether to believe that tbh. Goes against everything that Sam has said in terms of getting a striker first

Agree about the pattern, Dindane has struggled against the Premier league champions and against the number 1 team in the world, of course we shouldn't sign him!

Seriously he has done enough last season to think he would be a good signing for about 2 million, searing pace and a decent finisher.

Yet, to see this searing pace, and a decent finish, from the ivory coaster.

With all due respect that is just nonsense.

Bolton have a debt to one man - Eddie Davies - who is quite happy for it to be at that figure. They also have a healthy turnover and a hotel.

Petrov's wages are quite high but not ridiculous. Possibly less than a left winger on your own books...

The reason Bolton want him is that he is a top player. The reason he wants to go there is because they play football.

haha, first burnley gets the nicko `defensive treatment` and now bolton wanderers instead. i know your mates with coyle and all, but ease up a bit. i didn`t see bolton playing anything like good football under coyle after he took the reins last season. fair enough it was about survival first and foremost, so it was understandable, but don`t try and say `bolton play football` before it`s actually occured. it remains to be seen yet. posting on a rovers page, slating our style of play(just like all the other media pigs that don`t warrant listening to) and praising our (now)main rivals in the process is not what i wish to be reading when i come onto here, thanks

Doesn't look too bad. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikica_Jelavic

Maybe Sam is looking for ways to improve Niko's game as opposed to bringing in a high dollar striker? If so, pairing him up with someone he's used to playing with may be the answer. Any idea how much he would cost?

And Mauro Boselli is apparently set for Wigan. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Wigan-transfer-news-Latics-ready-to-jet-in-5-8m-striker-Mauro-Boselli-article480989.html

Could we hijack the deal for the 5.8 million, if we didn't try to stagger payments as Wigan intends?

Jelavic's scoring record looks decent but in an inferior league. Looks like he has improved every year. Anyone seen him play anytime?

His scoring record in the Europa League looks good too. Im sure we will scout him, watch him, then find out they want 4 million and back off.

He's the guy who scored 2 goals against Aston Villa at the start of last season. He scored straight from the kick off in Vienna. And then missed 2 sitters back at Villa Park before finally getting the goal which sent Rapid through.

The second leg was live in England was it not?.So some on here must have seen him play before?.

He was totally un-marked for the goal he scored in the Gerhard Hanappi, the Villa defender fell over.and he headed into the net unchallenged.

He was no world beater from what i saw(it was only 2 games mind),but if he was low cost, he could probably do a job for you lot.He was good in the air.

I just wish Shah would take over soon & give Sam £20m to play with!! We could be a much greater force next season if we could recruit 2 strikers & a quality midfielder......HURRY up Shah!

There's a takeover thread and God knows I could do with a bit of support!

If Shah was to come in sooner rather than later I doubt he'd be willing to throw £20m around at the drop of a hat. Sam has stated he requires a striker and that he'd love to get Guti on board, if Shah would be prepared to assist in making that happen then that would be more than satisfactory. The last thing we want is for somebody to come in throw £20m or so about to walk away a matter of months later leaving a huge debt around our shoulders after taking his money back out of the club (see Pompey).

We will never find another Jack Walker who made money available for the good of the club. Any money put into the club will be done so on the condition it can be taken back out with a sizeable amount of interest.

We are making slow and steady progress, the two signings Sam wishes for would hopefully bolster out top half status then we can progress from there.

If Shah can give money for Klose, this croatian lad and Guti, then i would be happy with that :) 2 strikers and a creative midfielder, and we will be ready for the new season :brfcsmilie:

No, thanks. Sam hasn't got a good record with a relatively large transfer budget. He bought some right old duds for Newcastle. This would also apply to Sparky, Souness and Hodgson. They were all at their best working on a tight budget.
