Pentecoat is pure class. Nutural finisher. Hew would be a quality signing. Not sure how he and Kalinic would work though? However a mix of Diouf, Kalinic and Pentecoat would be great.

A little update on Pentecote.

There is every chance he will start for Toulouse on Saturday. The senior striker Gignac, who plays on his own in their line-up, is injured and will be missing.

So Rovers can see him in a full match if they want...and he will still be available once Gignac is fit.

In a very frustrating window that may be a chink of light.

Pentcoat, he certainly has the technique as most French players seem to posses.

A natural instinct for were the net is....... Does he have the physical strength for the step up?

For the money being quoted, I hope we are not stuttering around on this one, as we did with Kone.

Toulouse His parent club want to sell but they also have high hopes for him but it depends on there current star Gignac (who is no where better then this guy)If he stays They will sell...............Pentcoat has come back this pre season and carried on with his goal scoring............5 goals in preseson including a winner V Marseille..............wonderful chipped goal...the longer Rovers leave it the more he gets out of range........Go on MR Williams Real him in............

He can't be that good - loaned out to the French Second Division at 23.

We've signed one player on loan and the opening day of the season if 5 days away. Frustrating is an understatement.

What would be the asking price? I read he was valued around the 2 million mark which would be well worth a gamble, the more exposure he gets the more his price will fire up providing he plays well.

How long do we need to decide if a player is deemed good enough? If he proves to be a failure in the prem at his age we still have plenty of time to work with him.

REO-COKER...not getting much luck with targets just now...it all kicked off at Villa over weekend...players knew...and many are gklad to see the back of the manager...think you can scrub that one off completely...not sure what the knock-on effects are...but Teymourian had better be good... ;)

PENTECOTE...understandable that you would want a good look at him...he was on loan last season and has done well in pre-season friendlies...but they count for nowt...no shame in being sent on loan from Toulouse...they play with one up front, so he went out for games...good for him.

Anyone reckon MON's departure is the reason Hughes made Fulham sweat it out for a couple of days before he signed on? Bet he's gutted he didn't hang on a bit longer.

Would have been a good signing for us (NRC) he fancies his chances at Villa under a new manager, may well regret that decision.

Pentecote on the other hand, don't know enough about him but a few things worry me, Why only 2m? Why no other interest? Why was he loaned out last season? I know they play with Gignac on his own up top but you dont loan out your best strikers.

Nicko - If the NRC deal is dead in the water, do you see Sam looking at someone of a similar mould?

Posted

Hope not. we need to keep him!!! can't see Big Sam wanted to move his family to Birmangham.

He's originally from Dudley, so it wouldn't be that much of a culture shock.

However, I'm pretty sure he's well settled in Bolton. I don't think Villa would want him in a million years.

Then again, I didn't think Hughes would go to City. What do I know?

Unfortunately, the ones whose opinion I care about such as A.Young, Petrov, Agbonlahor, Dunne, Warnock and some others will not be so happy.

Essentially we've appeased ###### like Sidwell and Habib Beye.

REO-COKER...he saw this coming and chose to wait...so I think that one is scrubbed...unless Curbishley got the job at Villa obviously

GUIZA...it won't happen at £5 million...it might at half...or even on loan.

VAUGHAN...been a daft approach by Blackpool for him today...can't see that one happening.

SAM AND VILLA...now there is an intriguing thought...but they don't have any money either...

Do you see this happening Nicko, I don't?

Nicko, do you know if weve actually contacted Guizas people? And why can we not offer more than £2.5m for Guiza, i thought you said our budget could be stretched to £4m, and we could be selling Grella and Roberts?

No money, but plenty of scope for selling players to raise funds.

If Villa can get £15 million + Stephen Ireland out of Man City then they're laughing - a ready replacement and funds to strengthen elsewhere.

If Villa moved for Sam at the moment I would be 90 per cent sure he would say 'yes.' Could anyone blame him?

However as this Villa regime have [a] no idea about what talent is out there, been surprised that O'Neill walked as quickly and [c] have not appointed a manager before...nobody will have a clue what to do.

Sparky would have been a cert if he had waited. He had a leading backer within the club. But he chose Fulham. Patience can sometimes be a virtue.

So can hindsight. ;)
