Mr. E Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 If we have a chance for Petrov, we have to go for him. He creates goals, that much is certain. He doesn't necessarily have to start on the left and replace Ollson, in fact we'll need both. If he can adapt to the right or even the center like Emerton/MGP have, perfect. But we need a player like this. Badly. Also he'll know he will have a tough time getting into the Villa team. At Rovers he will be a starter every time. Bolton too I suppose...but then I don't think he wants a relegation fight.

brian_gallagher85 Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 At Rovers he will be a starter every time. I'd imagine that because he can't do this is the reason we aren't pushing the boat out for him.
MeanGreenMachine Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 But we need a player like this. Badly. We have, Grella... permanently injured, big wage, best days behind him? We finally get a young exciting winger like Olsson looking the part then people want us to sign a old crock like Petrov to push Olsson out the side, brill!

I explicitly said that both would need to play. So your point flies out the window. And Grella and Petrov are different players. We have defensive midfielders, but we have few good attacking ones (Olsson and Dunn are the only ones). Sometimes we need to take a gamble on injury-prone players - it worked with Santa Cruz and Bellamy, or have people forgotten? People are acting as if we have a choice between him and Fabregas or something.
Bobby G Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Strong rumor in Dubai that Al Jazeera has signed Emerton. I dont know what's the story there.
Billy Castell Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Haven't heard aything in Britain. £2m would be good business, whilst £1m would be OK.
slough_rover Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Twente have signed Marco Janko. Can't find any link. Source? If so how much.
Muddboy Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Can't find any link. Source? If so how much. £5 million on a four-year deal. Shame as I think he could have been a decent target man for us. A bit like Crouch – he's a lanky beanpole but he has a bit of everything about his game. Mind you, way out of our price range.

Majiball Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Strong rumor in Dubai that Al Jazeera has signed Emerton. I dont know what's the story there. Really???? I would have thought he could have gotten a better club than out there. Oh well as long as they pay top dollar I don't mind.
Hughesy Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Strong rumor in Dubai that Al Jazeera has signed Emerton. I dont know what's the story there. Anything more? Price etc?
slough_rover Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Anything more? Price etc? I hope it is true and we have sold him. He hasn't done anything of note for us for sometime and seeing he's been here a few years I'm assuming he's one of the top earners.
Amo Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I'm divided on Emerton. He's a committed player and versatile across the park. I'd prefer to keep him and offload players like Jacobsen and Chimbonda, who are surplus to requirements.
Bobby G Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Nope. Nothing to go on more than that at the moment.
DanLad Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Strong rumor in Dubai that Al Jazeera has signed Emerton. I dont know what's the story there. Isn't Al Jazeera a TV channel?
Foxxx Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Wouldnt surprise me about Emerton, alot of Arab clubs have signed Aussies from the A-League, since Aussies are classed as asian players for them, rather than international imports.
Ewood and I Would Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Strong rumor in Dubai that Al Jazeera has signed Emerton. I dont know what's the story there. He'll be presenting the weather...
Steve Moss Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Sam regrets the Grella move didn't occur but still rates Vince: http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/8231083.Sam__Grella_can_still_be_important_to_Blackburn_Rovers/ Again we are linked (with a host of others) to Gilberto Silva. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_6218370,00.html
unluckymorton Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Slowest... transfer... thread... EVER. The World Cup is on, players are not available to discuss potential deals.
modes98 Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Slowest... transfer... thread... EVER. See last years or the year before. It is no different.
Oklahoma Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Sporting Lisbon have released Marco Caneira, Vukcevic, Pedro Silva, André Marques and Purovic. Vukcevic would be a good player for ROvers, playing behing Kalinic.
