If we have a chance for Petrov, we have to go for him. He creates goals, that much is certain. He doesn't necessarily have to start on the left and replace Ollson, in fact we'll need both. If he can adapt to the right or even the center like Emerton/MGP have, perfect.

But we need a player like this. Badly.

Also he'll know he will have a tough time getting into the Villa team. At Rovers he will be a starter every time. Bolton too I suppose...but then I don't think he wants a relegation fight.

We have, Grella... permanently injured, big wage, best days behind him?

We finally get a young exciting winger like Olsson looking the part then people want us to sign a old crock like Petrov to push Olsson out the side, brill!

I explicitly said that both would need to play. So your point flies out the window. And Grella and Petrov are different players. We have defensive midfielders, but we have few good attacking ones (Olsson and Dunn are the only ones). Sometimes we need to take a gamble on injury-prone players - it worked with Santa Cruz and Bellamy, or have people forgotten?

People are acting as if we have a choice between him and Fabregas or something.

Can't find any link. Source? If so how much.

£5 million on a four-year deal.

Shame as I think he could have been a decent target man for us. A bit like Crouch – he's a lanky beanpole but he has a bit of everything about his game.

Mind you, way out of our price range.

He can only play on the left wing. If he's asked to do anything but hug the touchline he's lost.

Anything more? Price etc?

I hope it is true and we have sold him. He hasn't done anything of note for us for sometime and seeing he's been here a few years I'm assuming he's one of the top earners.

I'm divided on Emerton. He's a committed player and versatile across the park. I'd prefer to keep him and offload players like Jacobsen and Chimbonda, who are surplus to requirements.

Strong rumor in Dubai that Al Jazeera has signed Emerton. I dont know what's the story there.

Isn't Al Jazeera a TV channel?

Wouldnt surprise me about Emerton, alot of Arab clubs have signed Aussies from the A-League, since Aussies are classed as asian players for them, rather than international imports.

Sporting Lisbon have released Marco Caneira, Vukcevic, Pedro Silva, André Marques and Purovic.

Vukcevic would be a good player for ROvers, playing behing Kalinic.
