Seems to me like power is swinging back in favour of the clubs rather than the players,i can see a lot of surprise transfers happening in the last few days of the window,as in some `big name` players ending up at clubs they wouldn`t have touched this time last year.

This 25 man squad thing might go in favour of clubs like ours after all,and maybe that is what Sam is thinking too.... :tu:

I think there are just too many rigidities in the system for things to swing dramatically at the close of this window but I suspect there will be a few deals with wow factor for clubs who still have a loan space or a bit of transfer and wages budget available in the last week.

On that basis I could see Stoke and Biemingham doing really well at the end of this window.

Lancashire Telegraph running a article which has an interview with Morten, right at the end of the article they say that Rovers have denied that they are about to sign Guiza, there was interest a few weeks ago but the player is now out of the club's price bracket.

they probably wanted 3mill, and we were only prepared to pay 2.9mill. Im going to guess its going to be, either Moa, Pentacote or wait for it, Beattie. If we can get either Moa or Pentacote, then i wouldnt mind Beattie as Roberts replacement. If Beattie is the main target, then il be disappointed.

So Plunket was tweeting to up LT sales so we can read that Guiza is a no go!

Really?

Yes- have a look at the tables published by Deloitte's.

25th by income only earns £10m pa more than us and very few clubs have a 91% wages ratio.

So a club with £65m income spending 70% (UEFA average) of it n wages is paying roughly the same to playing staff that we do. You have also got to remember that other clubs' Presidents, Chairmen, CEOs, marketng staff and CFOs frequently take far more out of the wages pot (like millions).

There's a surprise - is there anyone left we haven't denied interest in and/or confirmed they are out of our price range?

Apart from Beattie/Kitson/Benjani and the "main" mystery target?

We havent denied interest in Moa, Jelavic and Pentecote I think?

The LT said we have specifically denied interest in Pentecote. (yesterday)

Other than them being mentioned on here there's no suggestion we've any interest at all in the first two. Probably not even worth a denial.

that Plunkett dude, made as if something positive would happen with the Guiza story. "I will tell you after the paper has gone to print" WTF… then a small piece at the bottom of a MGP article, about Guiza not being in our price range? I mean, really now, couldnt he just have said that on his twiiter page.

Why should he? His job is to report for the LET not on twitter.

As of yet this summer I can't recall the LET being wrong about any stories related to Rovers but there's time yet

To be fair PP didn't and as Guiza is reputedly in the 5m bracket I'm surprised anyone expected anything different.

Obviously Plunkett looks up to Nicko and seen how he gives us updates... But his dreams of becoming a new nicko will fall apart if a sentence at the end of an interview saying Rovers denys interest in yet another striker is all he can offer us.. :)

Not really difficult when you're merely reporting alleged interest in a "mystery" target.

They haven't been right about any either. There was nothing from them about the Diouf loan until after the event.t

yes, but he came across as if there was something to the guiza stories. We were interested, but we couldn’t afford the price now? sounds to me like we were in for Guiza, but Fenerbache must have pushed up the price. So, the price we were thought he was going for, must have been lower for us to have been interested, or somebody must have told Rovers he is worth 3mill, and then they(Fenerbache) must have changed their minds and pushed it up.

Its going to be Beattie, he is the only striker now apart from Moa who we might have made a 2nd bid for. I cant see us taking Jo on a permanent basis, unless he is going for a ridiculously low fee. Benjani is a free agent, so rules him out as well, as we wouldn’t need to make any bid, apart from negotiate wages with him. Jelevic's fee is already too high, so that probably rules him out as well.

Who else is there?

GUIZA - I will say again, don't dismiss that one...he is available...he has not gone anywhere...his price will DROP as it gets closer to the window because the Turks will sell...and Sam's agent mare is on the case...although he has probably leaked it to breathe some life into it...

BIG SAM - I find it quite astonishing that he is not on the Betfair list of 55 candidates for the Aston Villa job...that's all I will say on the subject...

No he didn't, what was it he said, something like "I know what's happening with this, more after the paper has published."

You read into that what you wanted to because you were so keen for us to sign the player.

now who do we believe, you Nicko? or Cryer and Plunkett? the way i see it, is that they are a tag team, so going 2 against 1. ;)

perhaps yes, but why should I have read it any different? of course I want us to sign Guiza, wouldn’t you Rev? or how would you have read that, if it was say Benjani or Beattie he was talking about?

If you contact them to put his name up some nice chap may give you 1000/1 then!.

I'd be surprised myself if Sam's agent hadn't been on the phone to Villa to register his interest about one minute after the MoN news broke.

Let's hope Villa aren't interested, we don't want to be losing a manager at this stage of the new season.

On Guiza, why would fener accept a bid so far below what they paid. Was he not 12 million +, turks pay good wages as well. The only way I can see him coming to Rovers is on loan.

We seem to have spent the whole summer chasing shadows and people beyond our finances, its farcical.

Roll on Saturday.

Not for one second do I believe Sam will end up at Villa, but if he did at least the compo would double our transfer budget!!
