now who do we believe, you Nicko? or Cryer and Plunkett? the way i see it, is that they are a tag team, so going 2 against 1. ;)

It would be very easy for me to pee on the Guiza story because it was in the Daily Mail first. But - in an attempt to throw some light on things - I did a bit of sniffing and found some details to make me realise it had legs.

Like just about every other target Rovers have had this summer it is a tough nut to crack.

However a couple of nuts HAVE to be cracked or you are going to be at a disadvantage.

No more word on the 'mystery striker bid' by the way?

BIG SAM - I find it quite astonishing that he is not on the Betfair list of 55 candidates for the Aston Villa job...that's all I will say on the subject...

Do you really think Villa fans would want big Sam as their manager

Well there seems to be a few people tweeting, in Turkish, about Blackburn Rovers and Danny Guiza. Perhaps one of them is Turkish Nicko as a few people have retweeted it this morning:

Fenerbahceden Guiza'nın alinmasini isteyen Blackburn Rovers Teknik Direktörü Sam Allardyce, sağlık kontrolünden gecirildi..@zaytungsondakika

Any Turkish people here that can translate? Google translate just not cutting it (something about Sam wanting him in for health checks....)

The latest revelation a few days back was that it was "believed" the reason for the delay was that the selling club were not sure if the player in question was available or not!

Nice work if you can get it, being paid for writing that cack.

I don't see a world of difference between Sam's style and O'Neill's style. Both like to play physically strong football, use big men up front and have a defence full of big strong lads...

Both have been around the block and know the game.

O'Neill has been expensive to run, Villa probably want someone who can do it cheaper.

Villa still have many good players they could wheel and deal...and it is a club with top-six pretensions. Very appealing for a manager who even found Dubai football attractive.

The latest revelation a few days back was that it was "believed" the reason for the delay was that the selling club were not sure if the player in question was available or not!

So it was Wayne Rooney after all...

Rovers wanted to rejoice in practice

Daniel Güiza, Blackburn in the UK aspire to it out of the news that he wrote very nearly in the morning workout

Antalyaspor first week of the season in yesterday's practice match at Fenerbahce continued its preparations not only Alex, Daniel Güiza was very different. Spanish football, I scored goals in the training match. British newspapers wrote very well in practice Thursday morning when Güiza the Spanish star has aspired to the Premier League club Blackburn Rovers'ın was written. Daily Mail, Blackburn coach Sam Allardyce'ın 29-year-old Spanish footballer to be transferred before the season, he argued. Newspapers, Fenerbahce 5 million pounds worth of testimonials of football and that he reminded Getafe'nin in the transfer list.

Paul Plunkett thinks he is out of our price range: https://twitter.com/PaulPlunkettLT

I've never been so disillusioned with my club than I am now.

Since the start of the window its just been bollock's after bollock's, starting with the we want all our signings sorted before the WC.

Very harsh Unleaded.

How I look at it:

We have very little money to spend and want to be 100% sure that we buy the right player at the right place.

How incredibly annoying wouldnt it be to pay over price for a player to find out the next week that a better one is moving for lesser money.

JW is doing a fantastic job in very difficult circumstances.

No news is good news.

Why doesnt the same slogan apply when it comes to transfers?

No one seem to have known anything about the Diouf deal getting sealed.

It's not JW's fault if the Trustees won't make cash available.

However I do have my suspicions that all this "mystery striker" bollux is being put out there as a slightly more palatable sounding option than "Sorry folks we can't afford anyone."

The next three weeks might indicate if there was ever anything in it I guess. Proof of the pudding and all that.

Poppycock, we may have no money but we have spent the whole summer chasing guys well out of our price range. Do we think that the selling club is going to go "OK its Blackburn "charity" Rovers" and lower the price just for us. We were save well before the season ended with plenty of time to sort out our deals, as any accountant worth his salt could have calculated the funds we would have had available.

Putting all our eggs in the hope basket, praying each day that a takerover would happen so we could sign our wish-list of targets as opposed to getting on with the job in hand. We've been here so many times before I cannot believe we thought for one second it would go any further. To put a hold on all dealings (if true) just makes a hard job harder.

Mystery striker about 50 linked and all denied. 1 loan signing who has only scored against the worst team in the league last year, same as Di Santo & trying to flog our only fit striker. hoping against hope that Niko and Diouf come good. Spending 91% of our funds on wages that have crippled our ability to pay fees and wages for any potential new players.

The worst thing of all is the whole situation is of our own making.

What do you expect the club to do? Do you want them to come out and say we are trying to sign such and such a player! Then another club will come in and offer more money than us, face facts we are working on a shoe string.

Lack of respect?????? Get a grip.

No ones saying name the targets.

The club knew the score IE no funds coming from the trust, but yet we have the funds from the benni sale and whatever else we have scavenged from the back of the sofa.

You may not mind being linked to this player and that one whilst the reality is we can't afford a single one, but I'd far rather the club came out and said we have to work with what we have this year + maybe a couple of loans if we can afford them.

The club as always are scared of up setting the fans and effecting sales of season tickets etc, personally it wouldn't make my choice any different, I go when I can through thick and thin.

Like most on here, I've now had enough of all this total sh--e.

I honestly believe that we are staring down the barrel :-

  • Big Sam said that he wanted our business concluding BEFORE the World Cup. What a f----n joke; the powers to be could not negotiate themselves a tin of baked beans. It's a bloody good job that they are not sat in Downing St. with the Russians threatening to nuke us or we'd be wiped out.
  • I think there is a real risk of Sam doing a MON - clearly, he's so p----d-off

Going off to see some clients and will call in Northcote at lunch to see if there's any gossip.

GUIZA - I will say again, don't dismiss that one...he is available...he has not gone anywhere...his price will DROP as it gets closer to the window because the Turks will sell...and Sam's agent mare is on the case...although he has probably leaked it to breathe some life into it...

20/1 for Big Sam with Skybet... ;)

Would appreciate a heads up if possible on this or is that being a bit cheeky? :P

Seriously though.

We know have certain targets who are still available:

- Jelavic

- Guiza

- Moa

- Pentecote

The club may deny the interest, but for all we know the negotiations is being done.

Yes SAM wanted to do the business before the WC, but what clubs were actually willing to sell? I certainly dont know, but I think it has been a very hard transfer window to buy and sell in.

Lot of clubs struggling with their liquidity and you dont want to sell an important player and look vulnerable to be overpriced on your target when finding a replacement.

agree Maji, we had so much time to find a capable replacement for Benni. We had the whole of Africa, Asia, South America, Europe well the whole world to find a few new players. I cannot for 1 minute understand, how we cannot find anybody that’s decent, within whatever money we have available. Everything about this situation, says we are in panic stations and we have left it late, and are now paying the price for it.

We had so much time, to assess the situation, find suitable targets and also find ways to get rid of some players who are eating into our wage budget.

seriously Alexanders, apart from Moa, the LT has come out and denied the reports. We knwow Rangers were pushed back in their bid for Jelevic, and that was a 3.5mill bid. If a selling club is on the verge of liquidation, why on earth would they try and hold onto players instead of selling them to raise funds.
