Majiball Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Id rather we didnt be reckless like Leeds, and instead carry on being careful like we are at the moment. Yes it is extremely frustrating but have abit more faith. We are no weaker than last season thats for sure! did Sam make a mistake, by leaving Roberts at home over the weekend? If nobody wants him, and he knows we don’t want him, but are forced to play him due to other targets not being found, then I can see him not being motivated at all. I can see us going into the game against Everton with only Kalinic and Diouf, with Blackman as backup. Sam is certainly making far too many mistakes, and the financial situation is not helping either But we are weaker, we have now only 2 strikers motivated to play for us. Roberts may not be the best but out of the 3 he was the one last year who kept the ball at the other end more often. Its OK wanting to shift out Roberts it makes sense, but by doing it before we have a player either lined up or at the club, you will only ###### him off and de-motivate him.

Iceman Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 what about this line up Robbo Salgado Nelsen Samba Givet Nzonzi Emerton Tuncay/Diouf Olsson Dunn Kalinic But we are weaker, we have now only 2 strikers motivated to play for us. Sam it seems has dropped a clanger by ignoring Roberts, yet hasn’t found a replacement or been able to sell Roberts. The guy will be thinking to himself, do I really still want to play here, knowing im not wanted? Okay, he is a professional, and should play no matter the situation, but when you are not motivated, then its difficult to focus.

Okay, he is a professional, and should play no matter the situation, but when you are not motivated, then its difficult to focus. A point you put across well, I merely wished to reinforce it. I'm keen to see what happens on Saturday as in starting against a team that like ourselves has not really changed much we can use last seasons performance as a basis of comparison. Tuncay is a definite no for me, he's just not what we need. Guiza would be great, but I do wonder what sort of money he's on. Signed by a club with serious cash after scoring 27 goals from open play, if he's taking home a penny less than 50K a week I'll be amazed. Add in the 50% tax bracket and what would we have to pay the man? 70, 80, we couldn't afford Guti who wanted similar. It's like a little kid writing out his Christmas list.
Ewoodite Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Not really difficult when you're merely reporting alleged interest in a "mystery" target. They haven't been right about any either. There was nothing from them about the Diouf loan until after the event.t This is getting boring the Nicko/LT debate. TBF the LT did actually break the Diouf story first on their website, while they also broke the Teymourian story - although might also have been in the sun. Nicko has his contacts and the LT have theirs but anything happened transfer wise has been reported in the local rag. They haven't thrown a load of speculation in but not sure I want them to.
den Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I was a huge Tuncay fan As a footballer he's quality. Not what we need at the moment though - IMO.

No they haven't... That's Nicko's Job

nicko Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 No they haven't... What would you call the 'mystery striker' bid? Speculation? And are we forgetting Kris Boyd, Giovani dos Santos and some other Mexican? How did they work out? Diouf was a story broken by the Man U manager and had rpeviously been in the Norwegian press. I would like to salute them on the Teymourian triumph though...

The Diouf story actually broke first on a norweigan site last Friday morning. They then 'broke' the same story on their site, probably after translating.
LeChuck Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 As a footballer he's quality. Not what we need at the moment though - IMO. Perhaps, it depends how you look at it really. If he could score 5 more goals over the season than Emerton/Diouf/Hoilett from the ring wing (which I think he would), then that's five less goals needed from a striker. So if Kalinic got 9 over the course of the year, that would be like having bought a striker that had got 14. I haven't explained it well, I hope it makes sense. I just think we should be looking at alternatives to strengthening the squad, since finding this goalscoring striker is proving incredibly difficult.
alexanders Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I think Rapid Vienna is holding out for more money than Rangers have offered and Rovers may still be in the running. Jelavic expresses PL desire
Iceman Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I think someone is looking for more money than Rangers have offered and Rovers may still be in the running. Jelavic expresses PL desire did he not say, that he wants to join Rangers? The Scottish league, a better league than the Austrian league? i dont think i agree with that tbh
RevidgeBlue Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I think someone is looking for more money than Rangers have offered and Rovers may still be in the running. Jelavic expresses PL desire Reading between the lines there it sounds like Rangers want to build all sort of contingencies into the fee and that they are not really offering the player what he wants in terms of wages.
alexanders Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Reading between the lines there it sounds like Rangers want to build all sort of contingencies into the fee and that they are not really offering the player what he wants in terms of wages. and we all know they are struggling with their economy. It may also be that they are trying to put all kinds of add-ons, bonuses etc in to the speculated £4m offer.

Purely in jest Mr Nixon. I would trust ChaddyRovers more than the LET.
Gambit217 Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I think Rapid Vienna is holding out for more money than Rangers have offered and Rovers may still be in the running. Jelavic expresses PL desire Rapid want £4m for him, he's now got less than 12 months left on his contract, I don't see Rovers going anywhere near it. Espeically considering how drawn out the whole saga has been with Rangers. Their chief exec has flown out their twice now thinking a deal was imminent, and both times, nada.
67splitscreen Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Reading between the lines there it sounds like Rangers want to build all sort of contingencies into the fee and that they are not really offering the player what he wants in terms of wages. Agreed, Rangers won't want to pay no more than Boyd was on, Jelavic will know what Kalinic is on here and will want the PL money, same goes for Rapid.
Gambit217 Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Diouf was a story broken by the Man U manager and had rpeviously been in the Norwegian press. Spot on Nicko, I remember reading a translated piece in the Norwegian press last Thursday which confirmed Allardyce had been in touch regarding the loan deal, then it was reported in the LET that we were trying to get him, then it broke on SSN, then Sir Alex and then the LET.
alexanders Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Nicko, Concerning NRC. Did the fact that MON quitted as Manager at AV reduce our chances for him to becoming a Rovers player?
nicko Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Nicko, Concerning NRC. Did the fact that MON quitted as Manager at AV reduce our chances for him to becoming a Rovers player? Reo-Coker was 50-50 at best about it last Friday, stalling because he thought O'Neill would possibly go because of events behind the scenes in the previous day or so. But the deal really had little chance when Villa's money men started looking for £4 million. I'll say it again...it's not easy doing deals anywhere right now.
JAL Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Have to fully agree with Nicko, the lack of information from the club and feeding us tit-bits regarding this so called Mystry striker is just taking the mickey out of the fans. Its like the adults when they send the children in the other room when they want to discuss something.................. Its been nearly 3 weeks now with this farce.............Hope you are pleased with your self JW...........Maybe the Takeover will bring something new other then just cash.....I have Never known anything like this for a very long time...total lack of respect...... Think this quote from unleaded deserves to aired again, its the last line for me that jumps out, echoing, loud and clear.
braddock Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 ha, you want JW gone? or are you quoting that due to its ridiculous nature?
rovers1995 Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 These are quotes by Ryan Nelsen, Rovers legend "You get to a certain age where it is not about you any more, it is about the club you play for. "I love to see good young kids progressing. If I have to sit in the reserves for the rest of the season and Blackburn win, I will be happy."
MWGR2 Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Think this quote from unleaded deserves to aired again, its the last line for me that jumps out, echoing, loud and clear. Ridiculous. Why potentially jeopardise a transfer just to keep the fans in the loop? I certainly don't feel a lack of respect. I understand how business sometimes needs to be done. We pay money to watch football, not to be privy to all the business negotiations and administrative details of the club. To re-submit the original, already ridiculous, post is just something else. Some people....sigh
