Unleaded is the guy with no lead in his pencil, sorry could'nt resist B)

Unleaded has more idea of what is going on than most around here...

So a touch of respect would not go amiss.

The guy is frustrated at the lack of action in the transfer market and had a go. Good for him. Proper fan.

What's happening with Grella and Roberts. Looks like no takers - Roberts must be seriously hacked-off.

What's Jason got to be hacked off about??? if he could hit a few barn doors we're not having this discussion.

No one to blame but himself. HIS lack of goals marginalized him, jwp.

I think he would be a good option on the right, Emerton has always flattered to deceive out there and has never really cut the mustard as a right winger. Diouf is also a shadow of his former self, so it is an area we could improve on.

My worry is this Kalinic did not have the best of first seasons and despite showing glimpses of what he can do he missed a lot of chances. He's also missed almost the whole of pre-season and that always makes things difficult for a player to hit the ground running. Diouf is yet another maybe who like Di Santo last year may or may not cut the mustard. Roberts well I question the logic of touting him around unless we have a man lined up to come straight in the second he leaves, which it would appear we don't.

When I also consider that last year Dunn played well above expectations and if he drops from that standard or gets injured, where does that leave us??? take out his goals from last year and where would we have finished?

He would create more chances most likely but as yet we do not know that anyone can finish them. I really am beginning to question the logic of signing Kalinic in the first place as we sold a 15-20 goal a season player, if fit and bought a potentially good player. When I now add in that we are chasing a proven player (IE a 12-16 goal a season striker, from Sam's mouth) with about half what we had for one last year, well the plot seems twisted to me. I truly hope he can come good and hit the ground running a goal against Everton is exactly what he needs, but with no pre-season the signs are not good.

Because if we don't have a player who can hit near to 10 goals in the league this year, we will struggle.

That may well be so for Kalinic, although I do believe he will come good when (if ever ) he gets decent service from midfield. But for me the plus side is the signing of Mame Diouf. I know it is only one match that I have watched him, but to me it was obvious from the moment he came on the pitch at Tynecastle that this lad really IS a striker. He has ALL the right instincts and the equipment to carry it off. All he needs now is plenty of game time and the chance to get to know our players and (more importantly) they get to know him and his style

.

This lad is going o be a very good player in the EPL and we need to take advantage of the opportunity to have some of it while we can; I simply cannot see M.U. letting us keep him past the end of his loan period.

Nicko,

Have you any idea of the money Fener are looking for with Guiza ? Likewise, his wage demands ?

I've done some digging and the talk at the moment is that Rubin Kazan have had a bid of €7-8m accepted. However, the player himself isn't keen on a move to Russia, he'd ideally prefer a move back to Spain. He does indeed want to leave Turkey, has been unhappy there for the last 8 months at least. Getafe were linked bout baulked at the fee and his wages (€70k).

Also true Schalke have shown an interest, but so have a number of other clubs, including Bordeaux.

Bye, Guiza. nice while it lasted.

Schalke

I'd be suprised if they could afford him after the fortune they shelled out on Raul.

You can't blame people for getting defensive when he has a pop at John Williams and accuses the club of 'a total lack of respect'.

I usually love unleaded's posts, but that was a strange one. The frustration of lack of funds is shared by all, but that is nothing to do with those running the club day-to-day.

The lad has shown glimpses, but I still believe we are trying to make him into something he is not. I am not convinced Kalinic is right or ever will be to play the way we do. Whatever happens he needs to hit the ground running this year and score within the first few games, otherwise I can see his head dropping again.

I truly hope Diouf does work out as him doing well only helps Rovers, regardless of him being a loanee. I'm looking forward to seeing him over time this season as he will surely play with us only having 2.5 strikers. As for him staying beyond this season well thats a long way down the line and don't forget he's got Rooney, Bungletov, Owen & Macheda to get past so you never know.

He's shown more than a few glimpses. He's clearly a class act.

As you rightly say though, he's not a striker to lead the line. Funnily enough the kid everyone derided, Di Santo, is much more suited to that role.

I don't think you can say he's a class act yet, he has shown he can play but also he's hit 2 goals in the league. For me a striker that hits 2 in the league is far from a class act. Near misses no matter how close just don't count. People say he's young and the such, but if your good enough your old enough. Yes he's needed time to settle in but you could also add that previous class acts like RSC, Bellamy & Benni came in and hit 20. 2 out of those 3 had to acclimatise as well. He's definitely got something about him hopefully this year he can prove it and be the class act you suggest he already is.

He has to hit 10 this year in the league otherwise I just don't see it happening for him here.

I agree with a lot of what you said Maj but I think the comparisons are a bit harsh. Benni and RSC had moved away from their home countries some years ago so they were used to that, it was completely different for Niko, he was also a lot younger than the others who came in.

I think it's reasonable to give him last season to bed in, this season is the key for him. We need the goals from him in the league. I would think he needs to be hitting around 10 league goals.

having a go on a forum makes him a proper fan? ok.

do you believe rovers would be better off without JW, nicko?

Is genious above or below a genius?

above, obviously

also, when nicko # around not telling people the full sides of stories (and i don't expect him to because it isn't in the best interests of his job or his ego) it is fine, but as soon as JW doesn't come out with everything people hope he is replaced? i honestly don't believe JW has anything but the best interests of rovers in his heart, otherwise we would have noticed by now.

Sorry I wasn't talking about the moving country aspect but acclimatisation to the league as its very different to those on the continent. Sam spoke about him not being ready for the league in the main. I was trying to highlight that he's not a class act and perhaps they were extreme, but those players that came in were class acts and I'd hoped to highlight the difference. As I said he looks like he has something in him, but its yet to come out. I'd be more hopeful on him if he'd scored a few towards the end of the season and had a full pre-season. But he hasn't so I just hope he can get a break or two quickly as he strikes me as being a player who perhaps questions his self belief when the chips are down given some of his reactions to missing chances last season.

Moving to a different country at a young age well I moved to Greece at 18 and did more than fine, but we are all different. We also employ a man to ensure that every player gets what they need and how they need it so his adaptation to our country will have been a lot easier than most.

There's a lot of pressure on his shoulders this year, I hope he's mentally strong enough to carry it.
