If after doing so well to finish in the top 10 last season, we end up signing Benjani as our main striker then it is absolutely pathetic. We may as well have finished in 17th, for all the good the money would have done us.

What if the money was then spent on a quality midfielder?

Are you suggesting Banjoni in and then Tuncay for right wing???

To be honest, I think I'd want someone better than Tuncay if Benjani came in.

He'd only be coming in as third choice remember though, with Kalinic and M. Diouf battling for first.

How about Ibricic? We've been linked to him several times at around £4 million. He's got a hell of a goalscoring record from midfield.

Banjoni is an imposter if hes a footballer then I'm barack Obama.

I'd probably take Tuncay over Ibricic if I'm being honest he knows the league and won't need time to acclimatise. If it was neither of those I'd want a youngster, My mate raves about Ninis but he must be way out of our price range.

Anyway I'd try and get one of the below:

Zhano Ananidze (Georgia)

Mario Balotelli (Italy)

Nassim Ben Khalifa (Switzerland)

Jeffery Bruma (Netherlands)

Sergio Canales (Spain)

Jonathan dos Santos (Mexico)

Douglas Costa (Brazil)

Wilson Cuero (Colombia)

Alan Dzagoev (Russia)

Stephan El Shaarawy (Italy)

Sani Emmanuel (Nigeria)

Kermit Erasmus (South Africa)

Fabio (Brazil)

Joseph Gyau (USA)

Lukman Haruna (Nigeria)

Eden Hazard (Belgium)

Gael Kakuta (France)

Ben Kantarovski (Australia)

Batuhan Karadeniz (Turkey)

Rene Krhin (Slovenia)

Romelu Lukaku (Belgium)

Iker Muniain (Spain)

Neymar (Brazil)

Sotiris Ninis (Greece)

Thomas Oar (Australia)

Philippe Coutinho (Brazil)

Miralem Pjanic (Bosnia)

Rafael (Brazil)

James Rodriguez (Colombia)

Jack Rodwell (England)

Eduardo Salvio (Argentina)

Yaya Sanogo (France)

Davide Santon (Italy)

Daniel Villalva (Argentina)

Georginio Wijnaldum (Netherlands)

Jack Wilshere (England)

Chris Wood (New Zealand)

Franco Zuculini (Italy)

Surely one of thems 4 million or so.

It's funny how no-one really knows what's going on until it happens but everyone acts like they do.

Correct.

The NRC rumours from the other day were a perfect example.

The club have never had any contact with, or interest in NRC in recent years.

Sam even said himself in an interview over the weekend that there had been absolutely nothing, yet some people were making it sound like he was halfway to a deal with Rovers.

All speculation until it's confirmed by the club.

I agree with a lot of what you said Maj but I think the comparisons are a bit harsh. Benni and RSC had moved away from their home countries some years ago so they were used to that, it was completely different for Niko, he was also a lot younger than the others who came in.

I think it's reasonable to give him last season to bed in, this season is the key for him. We need the goals from him in the league. I would think he needs to be hitting around 10 league goals.

Agree, but I also think we're playing him in the wrong position - he's not ever going to be a lone striker. With a partner, he'll get 15 goals.

Benni was shocking up front on his own, but with a partner, one of the best strikers we've had.

Change the system, get the best from Niko. But we all know that's not going to happen so it's Banjoni up front on his own? Woo-hoo ...

Not ID'd him yet, but have found out Benjani pulled out of going to a club in Riyadh at the start of the week.

He is interested in finding a club in England for the rest of the eyar as he qualifies for a UK passport in January if he stays that long.

No idea how he would pass a medical or get a work permit.

If it is him then this really needs some explaining.

A mystery striker, as in a mystery why we'd want him.

We wouldn't get a work permit for any of those South Americans. I'd also forget about the likes of Wilshire, Canales & Ballotelli aswell yeah?

Total BS.

Potentially.

However the past few weeks have proved that it is pointless listening and then debating anything that hasn't been confirmed by the club.

You're just doing your job Nicko and you are clearly very good at it, I have no problem with you. I just can't believe that people argue and fight over every player that you link like Sam himself had just personally presented him to the public.

100% Benjani was at Brockhall today just heard it off one of the academy players. Not fair to name which one

I've just heard that too.

Whether you're telling the truth or not, I hope you're completely wrong.

Hope it doesn't come off either but he was defo there doing fitness tests. Apparently we are getting him becasue 'he would be a free and Blackburn don't have any money' said the lad I was speaking to

  • Backroom

Benjani will be the dreaded "panic signing" as we've inexplicably left it ridiculously late to start scrambling for strikers. Hopefully he's just coming in as back-up to Kalinic, Roberts and our mystery striker.
