Blackburn Ravers Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 So based on ONE game you want to sign him? I'm glad you're not in the charge. they dont say they want to sign him, all they have done is pointed out he played well against us,

Hi Mack Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Jerez I think I'd play well if I had 300m pounds worth of talent supplying the passes! All I can think of are the countless open goals and one on ones he has missed over the last 4 seasons......when he's not injured! If sam was excited by this...........mmmm
Will Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 2nd highest scorer last season? lol You are joking. It wasnt difficult was it !!!
brfcshabba Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Can't say I have watched Benjani too many times, I'm quite surprised that so many on here have seen him that often. I'll reserve judgement until he is actually in a Rovers shirt and then playing @#/?
alexanders Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Yes Benjani! Im putting him in my fantasy team right away!!
BPF Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Benjani is better at one on one's than Roberts!!! I haven't got any evidence to back that up other than my assumption, because I think that my Mum would be better at one on one's than Roberts.
ada2020 Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 How would Banjoni be on less wages than Roberts coming from Citeh? Unless he agrees to a big drop of course. Wll he's not joining from citeh they released him, he's currently earning diddly squat and his knees are shot how much do you think he'll be demanding from that?
Ricky Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 Woah hang on a second topman, I really don't want us to sign him. I'm just trying to look at the best case scenario. I know it's not common for a rovers fan.

Unlike most people on here that will have their views on him before he takes the field and when he does will no doubt booooooooo. Brilliant, love the backing the so called Rovers fans give the players
BPF Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 lol You are joking. It wasnt difficult was it !!! Football is an odd game. He scored more than the player we are all pinning our hopes on this season yet we are all desperate to get rid of him. I agree that he needs replacing but it is a fact that this is in total ignorance of last season's statistics.

I know it's not common for a rovers fan. I'm the same Ricky, just if we are going to, we have to back him as bad as he might be. i just hope, with fingers crossed, that he does do well.
Backroom Tom Posted August 10, 2010 Backroom Posted August 10, 2010 I hope people get behind Benjani if he signs but I fear he will get the Pedersen / Andrews treatment from many where it seems people can't wait for them to mess up so they can launch abuse. Benjani seems an honest hard working player and as pointed out he was more effective in one game vs us than any of our forwards were in any games. I'm in the extreme minority but as I said I would welcome him as a Roberts replacement but I can't see room for them both

John Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Makes sense now, recruiting for another physio and now the potential signing of Benjani - at least Vince and Dunnie won't be as lonely in the treatment room. In seriousness, don't think Benjani is as bad as some are making out, however I am not convinced - certainly a sign of desperation... Think some on here may be on suicide watch shortly...

Blackburn Ravers Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Benjani's record. (Gls) 1999–2002 Jomo Cosmos 45 (20) 2001–2002 Grasshopper (loan) 25 (1) 2001–2005 Auxerre 72 (19) 2006–2008 Portsmouth 70 (19) 2008–2010 Manchester City 23 (4) 2010 Sunderland (loan) 8 (0) National team 1998– Zimbabwe 43 (29)
BRFC1995 Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 so we play 352 now, so saturday could be diouff-andrews-n'zonzi-pedersen-olssen Dunn Benjani dear me, does that look poor. i hope the silver lining of benjani costing nowt is that all of the money gets spent on one very good player....to cancel out the crapness of the very dire players we are going to have to play. i was less underwhelmed when the likes of fowler, ward and blake signed.
Balwer Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 What other choice does Sam honestly have at the moment? Another loan player is about it, but maybe he wants to save his 2nd and final one in case Man U recall Diouf in January.
Amo Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Woah hang on a second topman, I really don't want us to sign him. I'm just trying to look at the best case scenario. I know it's not common for a rovers fan. Fair enough, but even entertaining the idea is enough to put my hairs on end. Well said that man. Unlike most people on here that will have their views on him before he takes the field and when he does will no doubt booooooooo. Brilliant, love the backing the so called Rovers fans give the players Woohoo. Now you can wear your 'No.1 Rover' beanie with pride. Meanwhile, some of us have reservations about second-rate dross being paid for by our fans.
philipl Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I always thought of Benjani as a Match of the Day-type of player capable of turning on the spectacular for the fans. Didn't he score Goal of the Season just before his transfer to City? Then he got injured and always had a bit of a reputation for not being keen on grafting. If he is coming in as 4th striker and the wages are not silly or are pay as you play, fine.
S.Shah Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Let's get one thing straight. Benjani is ONLY being bought if Jason Roberts is sold. So he is a direct replacement of roberts, thats if rovers can shift him out. Benjani would be a free transfer if he joined and roberts would be sold for around £1.5-2M So in return the club would be getting in Benjani in for roberts on a free and and extra couple on million freed up by the, sale of roberts. So all in all not bad business. He did have a decent end to the season at city if some people remember and wouldnt be a bad 3rd choice striker to have.
Torgeir Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Is the 'mystery target' finally revealed? One word: Sheesh.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Benjani is basically the Zimbabwean Dickov but with brittle bones. He was decent at Portsmouth and became a cult figure because he didn't score for ages but he always gave 100% and then he hit a bit of form which helped Portsmouth do well in the league. He isn't a bad player and would be liked by the fans because he gives his all but unfortunately we need a goalscorer so we shouldn't be looking to purchase him. I'm not keen on his signing because I don't think he'll improve our squad and he isn't any better (at goalscoring) than Roberts. Just seems to be a pointless signing when we already spent an outrageous amount of money on wages. IF he does join us then obviously I'll support him but I just hope Dr Sam has his eyes elsewhere.
Torgeir Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Benjani would be a free transfer if he joined and roberts would be sold for around £1.5-2M Last I checked we weren't selling Roberts to City. £1.5-2M!? You're dreamin'.
