Fair enough, but even entertaining the idea is enough to put my hairs on end.

Woohoo. Now you can wear your 'No.1 Rover' beanie with pride. Meanwhile, some of us have reservations about second-rate dross being paid for by our fans.

Well said comedian.

I have reservations also about the dross you mention.

It just so happens that our club isnt in a position to offer us much better than this.

I hope he pays off and rams all the negative thoughts on here down your throats.

Trouble, i doubt that he will.

But get behind him if he does play. It does no one any good to Boooooooooooooo.

Especially if i see you doing it

Yawn, it's late and the forum seems to be invaded by Zombies who shuffle about muttering Ben-jan-ee, they have mutated from the Ander-roos grumbling breed.

Seriously, can we all just calm down a bit.

Benjani was ok at first at Pompey, however there is real doubts about his fitness. If he comes he will be as an additional body and will need to demonstrate his fitness at a medical and will probably have to accept a pay as you play deal.

Methinks I will chill and trust Sam and co.

I am much more cheered up by the signing of Diouf.

Keep telling yourself that, bub. He's 32 years old, has knackered knees, and no other club will touch him with a barge poll. If you honestly believe Benjani is the best we can do, you're living on another planet.

Benjani has had a medical/fitness assesment today..........Dont know how he got on but Q's ave to be asked if we do sign him as to

why he has failed numerous medicals in the past few months for "Dodgy Knees"?

He must have passed a medical at sunderland last season.. Which clubs has he failed medicals at??

Look at Patrick Viera at City he failed his medical yet the new manager wanted him so the manager got him.

Football is bent hope big Sam and JW make a few bucks on this one to go towards their retirement nest egg.

I take it neither of you passed your English GCSE.

There's nothing wrong with my English GCSE, A-Level or Journalism degree. Thanks for your concern.

Your ability to edit down an (at the time) unsourced, pointlessly long list of young players, most of which are unobtainable or inexperienced at Premier League level, could do with a little work. Your sense of humour failure is infinitely more worrying ;)

You should learn to relax, we're all in this miserable transfer window together, there's no need to be quite so uptight, nothing was meant in spite.

Everybody's got cabin fever.

I have faith and believe that others will come before the window is shut and Benjani will just be a squad member.

Well my fingers are crossed anyway.

Right, I'm just back from the garden where I've burnt all my Rovers memorabilia from the past 30 years, programmes, shirts the lot. I will also be hunting down John Williams, Sam Allardyce, The Trustees, and the time wasters who want to buy our football club and will be launching an assasination attempt without the need for due dilligence.

This is my response to our looking at bringing in a player who will cost nowt on a probable pay as you play deal - maybe even on a three month trial. But hey I'm guessing here - but then so are you.

Some of you need to get a grip. Wait until will sign Beattie *.

(* I have no idea on that - but I can't begin to imagine the reaction from some of you should that happen.)

A few years ago I went on record as saying Benjani was the worst striker in the Premiership, he's not got any better since.

It doesn't matter if we're paying him sod all a week - he's rotten and not fit to grace the Ewood Park turf. It's a totally pointless signing that will only serve to rile the fans and speed up the inevitable grvitation towards relegation.

And he's got a @#/? goal celebration as well - not that we'll see it too often mind.

Yeah, ok.

This isn't just about wasting money. The slightest possibility that we might bring him on as a substitute or even start a game with him is shocking. We're playing a match, we're losing or drawing, the clock is ticking, we need to get a goal....and we have to rely on Benjani to get it. Like in what universe can anyone feel the slightest ounce of confidence about that?

Sorry, but signing Benjani would be close to the last straw for me.

How can the club be constantly complaining about a lack of funds and our high wages and then sign Benjani, who must be on a decent package and who's fitness is questionable (let alone age).

The club appears to be run by morons without a plan at the moment.

We don't know what wage he's on, whether he's on pay as you play etc..

Last season we finished 10th.

We haven't kicked a ball yet. The sport is football, not wheeling and dealing.

There's no melodramatic "final straw" horsesh*t coming from me until I see how we're doing at least half way through the season.

Some of you are frankly morons who need to get a grip. I'm no happier about this signing than anyone, I just don't think a bad signing for minimal amounts of cash is going to change a great deal.

It was August 10 today and will be August 11 tomorrow. Not September 1.

The grand total of 16 players have signed for Premier League clubs during the past six weeks.

The transfer system has as good as broken down yet some little Blackburners cannot see that (or read that Benjani is here on a no obligation trial to decide if he is worth taking on what probably would be pay for play nor spot the LT feedback reporting that even if we sign Benjani, he is not the main striker we are looking for).

I take your point BUT, 16 are you sure, a list I'm looking at says 60, unless you are being selective. ;)
