Amo Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Played a game yesterday with Branco (the other trialist), any info on him? http://www.osadvertiser.co.uk/west-lancashire-sport/burscough-fc/2010/08/12/burscough-0-2-blackburn-rovers-xi-80904-27042121/

ewoodpo Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Nicko are we likely to sign anybody before the Everton Game? Shouldn't you be asking this question to that golf playing mate of yours? As last week when you threw your dummy out you did state that Nicko knows nothing.
Iceman Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I have to say. that im very impressed with the way Sam is going about things at the moment. Okay, we struggling to sign strikers, but the trialists that have come in and the players that we are linked with, are all young lads. If we have no money, then we develop and bring in the youngsters. This can only be good for the club going forward, because over time we wont need to spend money, and if they do well, we sell them for good money.
rog of the rovers Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Jones joining Stoke could really kick start the window. If Beattie is going to Rangers, does that mean Jelavic is available again?
T4E Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Rangers talking so publicly about Beattie and Smith is likely an attempt to prompt some movement from Jelavic's people. One for Rovers to keep an eye on.

nicko Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 So many questions, so little time. ASSULIN - has a bad knee...broke down in training...that explains a lot. BEATTIE - Rangers will struggle to pay his tax...cheap attempt to get Rivers to make a bigger bid? JELAVIC - why would he go to Rangers now when he can show all the Premier League teams how good he is against Aston Villa this week? NORWAY GAME - good spot by our Norwegian activists...no Rovers senior presence at game...bosses galore...fair point on 12-club rule...but there were about five or six players in the shop window...from what I hear nobody did that well on either side.
LeChuck Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Jones joining Stoke could really kick start the window. Depends where their money goes I guess. If it goes abroad then it won't have much of a knock-on effect.
G Somerset Rover Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Jones joining Stoke could really kick start the window. The only thing that will kickstart is Beattie into Ewood which most of us would hope that it doesn't happen. I just can't help but feel that our last chance at the dance is going to be one almighty let down.

Hughesy Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Nicko - ANYTHING new on Rovers? In's or outs? Grella, Jacobsen, Zurab, Roberts.....?
Exiled_Rover Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Nicko - ANYTHING new on Rovers? In's or outs? Grella, Jacobsen, Zurab, Roberts.....? No by the looks of it. Which makes this the most frustrating transfer window ever - and we've had our fair share of those.
roversnick Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 eaves was a rumoured target of ours earlier this summer wasn't he? http://www.bwfc.co.uk/page/General/0,,1004~2118886,00.html
47er Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 No by the looks of it. Which makes this the most frustrating transfer window ever - and we've had our fair share of those. You never know, it could be the last one!
Jackson Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Nicko - ANYTHING new on Rovers? In's or outs? Grella, Jacobsen, Zurab, Roberts.....? What's the betting they are all still here at the end of the window? Including JRob.
MarkBRFC71 Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 How many days until we hear the usual old b**locks about "keeping our powder dry"?
Exiled_Rover Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 How many days until we hear the usual old b**locks about "keeping our powder dry"? I don't think we have any powder to keep dry, which is a result of paying plodders like Pedersen £30k+ grand a week. How 90% of £40m goes into this squad's pockets is beyond me. Football has well and truly lost the plot.
Gambit217 Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Apologies if this has already been posted. Walter Smith confirming deal for Beattie is nearly done. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/editor-s-picks/walter-smith-confirms-beattie-and-smith-deals-1.1047824
nicko Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Nicko - ANYTHING new on Rovers? In's or outs? Grella, Jacobsen, Zurab, Roberts.....? You can't get rid of players you want rid of...so that is not helping. I don't think there was ever anything in the Eaves story, although on a very funny note I understand that some muppet is winding up the Clarets Mad set and pretending to be me on that subject... Get. A. Life. Beattie and Rangers seems to have a chance. But how will they pay those wages?
LeChuck Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/editor-s-picks/walter-smith-confirms-beattie-and-smith-deals-1.1047824 "Rangers have tabled a transfer package of close to £4million for the 24-year-old, with a £16,000 a week wage offer" Surely we can compete with that? We might not have £4 million right now, but surely we can justify the extra initial outlay when his wages are so low? If we pay £2.5 million for a player on £30k a week, that sum total outlay would be almost exactly the same over two years. Come on Sam!
chaddyrovers Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 If Jelavic has a good game against Villa then he will be out of our price range. I think we should sign him before the game. so his price will be lower. But can't see that happening. Nicko, do we still have about 4 million to spend or anything like that????
Gambit217 Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Beattie and Rangers seems to have a chance. But how will they pay those wages? Will he take a pay cut to guarantee he plays football for the season ? I'd say he might if it is indeed true that he's going to be omitted from Stoke's 25 man squad? If Jelavic has a good game against Villa then he will be out of our price range. I think we should sign him before the game. so his price will be lower. But can't see that happening. Nicko, do we still have about 4 million to spend or anything like that???? He scored for Croatia last night against Slovakia, I'm sure that will have pleased Rapid !
Hughesy Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Beattie is worth something similar to J Roberts so id say £750k- £1m....anything more from us and id be gutted! Apparently QPR wanted Roberts but would only give him a 2 year deal & he wants 3. I think by end of the window he will be gone...and perhaps Grella too.
davulsukur Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Interesting to see that Beattie might be heading to rangers. I honestly thought we would end up with him. Will the proposed rangers move force sams hand into making an offer? Unlikely that we will pay £1.5 million tho (hopefully)
