Surely we can compete with that? We might not have £4 million right now, but surely we can justify the extra initial outlay when his wages are so low?

If we pay £2.5 million for a player on £30k a week, that sum total outlay would be almost exactly the same over two years.

The "24 year old" part might indicate that it's Jelavic and not Beattie who'd be getting that package.

LeChuck was talking about Jelavic earning that amount not Beattie. I tend to agree with him that we should be able to afford Jelavic considering his wage demands are not too high although it depends what else he has asked for in his contract as there was obviously some reason he didn't agree terms with Rangers.

Anyway, we need to act soon otherwise all the strikers we are linked with will have moved, although I am not sad to see Beattie potentially crossed off our list. Disappointing to not act on Moa going by what people have said and his links to Pedersen but let's hope Rovers pull something out the bag, maybe even that other Norweigen guy. I hope there really is something happening today as Nicko says.
