67splitscreen Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Not sure what happened to Guti. Russian sources told me he would be in St Peterburg yesterday to sort out a deal. Trying to find out if thats true,by asking Spalletti's chief scout Aldo Pecini. I will report back later if i find out. Putting two and two ...... Ivory Coast on their way home. Dindane a possibility, search over for the striker, second target Guti, possible not turned up at Zenit, ??????????

DavidMailsTightPerm Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Amazing the stick that Zurab has been getting on this forum. To my knowledge he never complained about being a fringe player - and always gave 100% when called upon. Personally I am a little surprised how he has been frozen out - especially when players like Chimbonda seem to offer little in comparison. Though Rovers obviously need him off the wage bill - to an extent loyality works both ways. Fans are quick to call players who complain, don't give 100% etc. - but in this case we are having a go at a player whose only problem is not being the current managers choice of player.

Was thinking the same myself mate, i was hoping Ivory Coast would get knocked out the world cup sooner rather than later, then we should know if Dindane was coming to Ewood or not, He did say he would let everyone know after the world cup had finished for him, Fingers crossed we do get him and Guti,

Yep---with you all the way there. A model professional which is more than can be said for 1 or 2 who won't be leaving.
Amo Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Don't blame Zurab for looking after his income. It's alright people saying half of his wage is still serious money to us peasants, but who are we to tell him how to spend his money? The problem is with the board wasting money on overpaid contracts and then wondering why players don't want to leave. Like I said, the problem with football supporters is that they want their cake and eat it. Unwanted players should take whatever they can for the sake of their career, but our star players are criminals for touting themselves to bigger clubs.

I don't think he is on the list anymore, hence why we are still struggling with the striker search.

No Rich, he hasnt joined anybody yet, well he said he was going to be playing in the Premier League next season a few weeks ago and that he would give more details after the world cup

Bit like Mokoena, never complained much and always did his best for Rovers, which is why most fans love him. Myself included. However, for every great tackle he ever made, he usually made a massive clanger straight after it. He's just not as good or aware as the other players we have in his position. It's funny how people forget when certain players don't play for a while.

Was in the "news" this week that he hasn't gone to Qatar as had been reported. There are links around but I can't remeber where any more.
Silencio Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 I liked Zurab, he was always really calm and classy on the ball, he had a nice touch but he wasn't quite imposing enough and, as has already been mentioned, he made a few clangers. Sam is doing what he needs to do for the club by pushing him out... Tough ###### for Zurab, I'm sure the couple of million he received for nothing in the last two years will be of some consolation!
Bobby G Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 That would be related to the fact that a take-over is potentially in process. I doubt the club would want to spend money at this time till the situation is clear. Not ideal preparation for certain.

MeanGreenMachine Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Strangly enough, people arn't always motivated by money.
Hughesy Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Looking at Ghana, we missed out by not signing Annan. Also that lad who scored the winner looks good too - excellent technique for the goal

Steve Moss Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 For those who want Sam to add to the right back collection: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_6231665,00.html Actually, he plays center (which we have too many choices) and right back. I don't think he'd be a bad choice if we could offload Jacobsen or Chimbonda, especially as Salgado's last season is coming up.

FC Midtjyllands official site also has him down as a central defender. I don't think we need him.
Amo Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 If we see class at a cut price then we should go for it. Especially if we have a chance to sell our older Kiwi.
nicko Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 I am told there will be NO major movement while this takeover thing goes rumbling on. However keep your eyes out for a trialist or two getting sweaty in pre-season training this week. Strange days.
nicko Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Is Nathan Ellington having another go? Remains one of the craziest transfer ideas I have ever heard.
