Big Sam says in the LT that the club need to make a move for a striker soon, as they dont want to be left struggling at the end & signing any old player out of desperation, basically says the board should back a more expensive move now, and allow him to sort the books out before the end of the window.

"You have got to try and move forward even though it might be the right time for the club financially. It is the right time for the club from a football perspective.

You have to trust that we will make the budget right at the end of the transfer window by shifting around the player we need to shift if that player becomes available.

It is taking the gamble then if it is above what you wanted to pay then you take the responsibility as a manager to put that right! "

That sounds like a typical Sam "mid-summer" plea. Could he be playing a "clever game" by dangling the Arab interest in front of the board?

Any truth in rumors regarding:

Tevez to Madrid

Sniejder to Utd

Fabiano to Utd

Ibra to City

Roberto?

Tevez could have joined Real at the end of last season, but decided on Manchester City. Why change now?

United are interested in Fabiano(AC Milan very keen too),but not Sniejder.

Ibrahimovic is interesting City yes,AC Milan too.

Sorry, missed the questions...will answer...

So would you say the Bance story is just agent talk?

Yes

Nicko how likely is a quick resolution to the takeover situation

The board must know we need to strengthen.

Have Bolton signed the two Madrid kids and is it true they have signed a mexican super teen?

Possibly quicker than first imagined...trouble is not quickly enough.

Bolton close to doing the Real kids, plus possibly a BOLIVIAN not Mexican...and maybe a surprise face too.

Would that be Bolton fans in shock that we've actually managed to do some business in June?

You've already signed one...posisbly two by tonight...and maybe five within the next week... ;)

But let's keep this a Rovers site for now.

Oh dear.. this sounds incredibly like some previous takeovers at other clubs, deal not done until days before the end of preseason/transfer window and not enough time to land anyone.

For whom? To keep the manager? To sign players?

From what I hear - in the past couple of days - this takeover thing may be more advanced than anyone is letting on.

However the time I hear for potential completion is 'the start of the season.'

And that would be no good for anyone.

Is this why Allardyce is saying "Let me buy players now and I'll balance the books on sales and purchases later?"

Must admit thats what I was beginning to fear from his quotes in LT today..

Speaking about chatting to head of player recruitment but there being no progress..

Talking about world cup players..

Taking risks and paying more now and balancing books later..

It not being the right time for the club financially, but we have to move forward from a football perspective..

I know the manager is fed up with missing out on a couple of recent targets.

And the timing of this Al Ahli interest just makes the whole 'scenario' very lively just now.

What's this guy been up to? If he is available from Benfica he could suit our style well.

He played for Kayserispor in Turkey last season. He scored 21 goals and was the best scorer of the league.

I think they are trying to buy him but haven't done it yet.

Vukcevic is signing for Olympiakos today.

Loan with a possible buy of €3.7 million.

I think he could have been good for Rovers.

What kind of targets did we miss out on?

Boselli was one?

Guti it out of reach financially just now...Lewandowski was too expensive...Dindane could have been done for better or for worse...Piquionne is still out there...And there was interest in Petrov...

In four of these cases the players are still available and yet the manager chooses to ectend his break for a week because there is no dough to do business right now.

Enough said.

Well Guti, Dindane and Robert Lewandowski are most likely 3 we have missed out on.. would not be suprised if Boselli was another.

We've not missed out on Guti yet and Dindane was obviously more interested in money so we did well not to sign him.
