Nicko, any idea how much Lucas Barrios would cost?

Not nicko, but a 25 yr old striker, who was 3rd best goal scorer in the Bundesliga in a CL-team, and bought for ~£4M a year ago, and who has several years of contract left. £20M+?

Fed up enough to want to move elsewhere? Or fed up but prepared to stick around for a take-over and potential finances for January?

I guess the start of the season wouldn't be too bad for a take-over completion - It still gives a couple of weeks during the transfer window. A lot could happen for us if we had a bit of dough to spend.

The problem with leaving late, most teams are taking shape by then, it is then very much a sellers market with a high price to pay, they would more than likely then have to go out and spend even more on their own replacement.

Leaving until Jan, well we all know what kicks in then. :( £££££££££££££££££££££ for dross.

Sam really does need to shake the shackles loose. If this takeover is even close to a deal, give him a chance.

Actually I can understand his frustration. I guess we've all been frustrated ourselves when we play Football Manager and there is only a small pathetic amount of money in the transferfund. Only this aint a game, so the frustration is real and must be a pain in the @rse!

We'll just have to be patient and wait...

Problem there is, if we are struggling in the league in Jan due to the fact we havent been able to sign anyone, the new owners could want their own man in, that is what Sam referred to when he mentioned Ashley sacking him at Newcastle when he took over! remember, there are many Rovers fans who would be after Sams head if things went badly next season regardless of the amount of transfer budget, sticking around is not a serious option as other sides strengthen and we dont.

Agree there.. hence the Dubhai thing being a bit concerning.. after his experiences at Newcastle I would not be suprised if he felt a little concerned.

Really does depend on who the other guys in this indian consortium are (india has its share of rather rich chaps).

For now I am pretty worried about the whole transfer situation.. we cant go into next season with just two strikers.. one who cant hit a barn door and the other still pretty raw.

Never mind creative midfield players.. hell we know those are the ones Sam wants to fix first.. :(

People talk like not getting another striker in ASAP will be a complete disaster & that we will end up bottom....Realistically what are we missing from last season...Di Santo & Benni? Now what exactly did they contribute?!

Our system is more like a 4-5-1 or a 4-3-3 which contains only 1 striker or on the odd occasion 2 more advanced players whihc is usually made up from 1 striker + Dunn.

Now yes it is obvious we need more striker options.....however its hardly a disaster if we dont get 1 just yet.....why by second hand motor, if in 4 weeks the Indian fella gives us the dosh to buy a brand new top class motor - same theory should be used when looking at the options out their right now in terms of goalscorers!!?

From what I hear - in the past couple of days - this takeover thing may be more advanced than anyone is letting on.

However the time I hear for potential completion is 'the start of the season.'

And that would be no good for anyone.

Nicko is sam still away or is he back at ewood . do you we will a striker before the season starts i dont mean a crap one etheir  will backer give him 5m to spend on agood foward

Guti it out of reach financially just now...Lewandowski was too expensive...Dindane could have been done for better or for worse...Piquionne is still out there...And there was interest in Petrov...

In four of these cases the players are still available and yet the manager chooses to ectend his break for a week because there is no dough to do business right now.

Enough said.

From what I can understand SA is a very impatient man and a continally nagging thorn in the side of his Chairman when he thinks things are moving too slowly for him.

That's a blessing in disguise (Lewandowski aside, but he was always out of reach).

You could have at least tried to correct some mistakes when you reposted and insulted another board member.

'Nicko, is Sam still away or is he back at Ewood?

Will the backers give him 5m to spend on a(space) good forward?

Hughesy you are a muppet'

I would think Annan's value has vastly increased after his recent performances. Not that he would be a bad signing.

Is this going to be a regular 11 o'clocker?. Quality!.

Must be frustrating for Sam, firstly he is told he has the smallest budget in the Premier League, then even that is taken away from him until things progress!

oh, and Grella decides to stay.

Big Sam won't be saying that if he gets to spend 20 million pounds let's say. He just got to wait and be patience.

Does nobody else think that Sam's behaviour (apparently courting the Dubai move, taking an extra week off and bemoaning takeovers and lack of transfer funds) is displaying a certain lack of commitment (or maybe even respect) to Rovers?

No, I dont. Why shouldnt he court the Dubai move, with his heart problems he is now looking at a much reduced career. Why niot try and get the most cash as possible?

He isnt needed for the first week of training and seeing as he wont be involved in any transfers pending the takeover why shouldnt he take the week off. Aint got owt else to do?
