nicko Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 The 'I will be watching Life on FX at 11 o'clock-er'...and 'I'm in a good mood after backing Holland 2 Brazil 1 at 18 to 1-er.' KRIS BOYD...expects to sign for Middlesbrough over the weekend...no great loss. JOE LEDLEY...in advanced contract talks with Celtic tonight. No word on the Rovers trialists. David O'Leary is due to meet Al Ahli shortly. Phil Brown has also met them. All too bizarre. Has anyone spotted yet that they are all connected to this guy at Al Ahli called Mark Bell and most candidates seem to be pals with the agent Mike Morris. Hey ho.
LeChuck Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I said in feb we should have signed KP Boetang on the cheap and let him play at pompey till summer, would have been ideal for us but less than no chance now Would have been brilliant in our set up. I struggle to watch Ghana with any enjoyment because of the whole Annan thing. Bloody Ince. Edit: Ledley to Celtic? What a waste. I guess there is no chance of his hijacking that with a striker still not found.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Any news on the future of KP Boateng? Obviously he will want to leave Portsmouth to play top level football and I'm wondering what's the chances of him joining Blackburn?
bonerdude Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 nil......good world cup and will want way too much..........

Does Big Sam not want Boyd anymore? asking for too much in wages? Waste of a good player if Ledley goes to Celtic. Are we interest in Mido? Big sam type of player

It says in Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten that Trond Sollied will be signing a contract with Al Ahli tomorrow and that he will be presented as their new coach on their website tonight. LDRover Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Are we interest in Mido? Big sam type of player He's the board's type of player if he'll settle for 1k a week again.
chaddyrovers Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Think Gyan of Ghana has played really well tonight till he just miss the penatly. Work hard for his team and been unlucky not to score. would like us to sign him but unlike at the moment.
AJW Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 just remind us again nicko........WHY did we not but Anthony Annan??????????????
Hi Mack Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 just remind us again nicko........WHY did we not but Anthony Annan?????????????? Are you Stupid?...........Ince went for Andrews instead
philipl Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Are you Stupid?...........Ince went for Andrews instead I didn't think my opinion of Ince could get any lower but it has done watching every game played by Ghana in South Africa.
chaddyrovers Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I didn't think my opinion of Ince could get any lower but it has done watching every game played by Ghana in South Africa. He's a excellent player. be going to a top european club now. Thanks Ince!!!
LeChuck Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 He's a excellent player. be going to a top european club now. Thanks Ince!!! Ah but didn't you know... Ince was a top midfielder himself so he knows a good midfield player when he sees one.
budha Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Ah but didn't you know... Ince was a top midfielder himself so he knows a good midfield player when he sees one. There has to be a reason why a (two weeks shy of) 24 yr old "next Essien" is playing at his third Norwegian club. We're not the only club that have passed the opportunity to sign him.

We're not the only club that have passed the opportunity to sign him. Maybe. I guess we'll see when he moves to a stronger league, it surely can't be long.

We're not the only club that have passed the opportunity to sign him. Please tell me what it is, his ball retention is wonderful, pass success rate right at the very top!! Just like Andrews Ince??
budha Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 The transfer topic of summer 2008 is gone, but I'm pretty sure not even our Norwegian members were advocating us buying him. I have seen just about 5 matches from him, and he has looked good, but so did for example all the Senegalese players in 2002. Amdy Faye, Diao, Diop, Fadiga, Diouf.. flavours of the month.
Backroom Tom Posted July 2, 2010 Backroom Posted July 2, 2010 Buying on the back of a world cup is dangerous I imagine the likes of Gyan and Annan will move for Hugh prices, id love either but both are out of our range and are not guaranteed successes.
beerwins Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Annan has played great but I also saw the side of why you would'nt buy him, the majority of the time he plays great, lays some great passes, puts his foot in when needed, breaks up play a treat, but he just has the old African trait of trying things that really dont warrant it at that time and place, like an overhead kick in the middle of the park, or keeping hold of the ball when he needs to pass it. African strikers are a different kettle of fish they tend to try a lot of off the wall things and if they work great but if they dont, its no big loss because its only a goal kick, but if a holding player tries this kind of stuff he lands your team in all kinds of trouble, Annan looked great apart from maybe 1 minute of madness that sees him wander out of posistion and leave his man, in the prem that 1 minute would cost you.
nicko Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Just to clear a couple of things up. ANNAN...was wanted during Mark Hughes's time but could not get a work permit...Ince sniffed around him when he came in but DID choose Andrews instead...to be fair, nobody else has taken him in the Premier League...he is a smashing little player but considered too small for the English game. GYAN...was offered to many clubs when he was younger and is still very expensive...feel for the lad tonight and he could make it over here...he is about to change his agent...the significance of that will only be seen in the coming weeks. FORLAN...the player of the tournament for me...how ironic...all the fannies who slagged him at Man U...terrific player, great guy. TAKEOVER...hoping to find out more over the weekend...got to say most people 'around' the club are talking of when and not if...good news or bad news?...who knows...but anyone who says nothing is going on is talking out of their rear end.

Have to agree about Forlan, that guy has been head and shoulders above the rest, looks a completely different player.....so where's he going then?
Doaksie Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I think Annan has looked reasonably solid, nothing particularly more. Does the simple things right. Personally, the ill feeling stems from the decision from Ince to pass-up on him and then pay £1m (ish) on Keith Andrews and £4m (ish) on Vince Grella for similar positions. As Paul Ince regularly reminded us, we had no money, so surely Annan would have been a better option on our restricted budget. Then again, the man signed Robbie Fowler - logic was not a strong point of his!
T4E Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Forlan is probably a bit too old to go anywhere bigger than Atletico now. Shame, absolutely fantastic player. Still a mystery as to what happened to him at United - he looks like he'd score goals in any team.
