Hi Mack Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Its starting to get depressing now.......Even Bolton are signing decent players. On the upside ive heard the Take-over has gone one step further in the last couple days.....not sure how but some progress is being made (at last)

American Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Nothing wrong with looking at young players, whatever their position - you can never have too many good young players. He might turn out to be rubbish of course, but there is no harm in looking. Agree with you. I don't even think signing Righters was a bad move, it was just a low cost risk that didn't pay off.
thenodrog Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Interesting news and from what I've seen wouldn't be too disappointing at all http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/fifa-world-cup/all-whites/3868852/Reid-tipped-to-join-Nelsen-at-Blackburn We've lots of centre halves at the moment. Our budget wont stretch to many luxuries so would this guy replace Nelsen or one of the others? If this is some initiative cooked up by SA, JW and Nelsen to capture rising talent in NZ for BRFC then I'm all for it. It could be quite a lucrative retirement option for Nelsen. I had similar hopes that BRFC could do similar in the US with Brad's football school but that never happened unfortunately.
Billy Castell Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Another million defenders? Are we trying a 7-2-1 formation next season? These Kiwis and Brazilians may be good, but surely, the more attacking aspects need looking at first, regardless of whether we cash in on Nelsen or Samba.
thenodrog Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 What is laughable is that Annan is 5 foot 9, the great Makelele whose impact on the modern game led to a position being named after him was only 5 foot 7. Holding midfielders don't need to be tall. Correct. How tall was Tugay ffs? Berkovitz too was tiny and those are the two most talented midfielders that we have had in recent years. McKinley too was small and Dunn's not tall either. The disastrous appointment of Paul Ince continues to plague us. I'd imagine that Williams pride will not allow him to consult me directly again next time we need a new manager..... but I bet he spends some time logged on here before committing to a new manager in the future. What do you reckon Lee?
Oklahoma Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 The first time I heard of this Araujo kid was here. I checked a portuguese website and he only played 1 game in 2007/08 and 2 games in 2008/09. I have no idea why. Anyway, he went back to Bahia this season. http://www.zerozero.pt/jogador/rodrigo_araujo_gomes_costa/actual/ficha/0/default/34542 Nothing wrong with trials, maybe a good player can be found. But I doubt it in this case.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Gyan according to some Sorry a bit too cryptic for me. Gyan is the player we are looking to sign ?
budha Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Wasn't the player supposed to be at pre-season training with his club? And Rennes paid €8M for Gyan 2 years ago, so his price would be over £10M now. Which would be a tiny bit too expensive for us.
Fife Rover Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Gyan according to some Mind you don't sprain your wrist writing too much in the way of a clue as to what the hell you are actually talking about Hughesy!!
Guest Kamy100 Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 I can't see it being Gyan, his price is going to be at least £8 million plus wages, that will put him out of our range.
Dunnfc Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 MICHAEL JOHNSON... Now citeh have signed toure, this kid had dropped even lower in the pecking list is it worth a sneeky bid or loan offer for the season?
Roberto Policano Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Any news on the future of KP Boateng? Portsmouth after £5.5 million,4 Serie A and 3 German showing an interest. Not sure of English clubs interested.Must be some though. The Araujo guy doesn't hold a EU passport,so how would you get a work permit for him?. Rennes want £10-12 million for Gyan,They paid Udinese £5 million + add ons when they signed him.
Dunnfc Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Araujo work permit... Special talent rule or loan him to cercle brugge.
modes98 Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 MICHAEL JOHNSON... Before After Not to mention his awful injury problems. No point looking at him. Weiss or Ireland would be better options although I imagine Ireland would cost a bit and there would be other clubs in for him if he were available.
Oklahoma Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Schocking transfer in Portugal!! Joao Moutinho to FC Porto from rivals Sporting Lisbon. 5 year deal with no money being mentioned yet but, if the tradition continues, it will be for less money expected and Sporting will take some poor playuers for FC Porto.
OJRovers Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 If the striker is currently in pre-season training with his club, we can rule out Benjani as he has been released by City. Phew.
Doaksie Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 If the striker is currently in pre-season training with his club, we can rule out Benjani as he has been released by City. Phew. I had applied the same logic to Asamoah Gyan - I doubt he's back to pre-season training already somehow. Penalty practice on the other hand......
Kelbo Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 If the striker is currently in pre-season training with his club, we can rule out Benjani as he has been released by City. Phew. Nugent is training though and so is Beattie!!!!!!!!!!
nicko Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 I believe they have started pre-season training at Rapid Vienna
Doaksie Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 I believe they gave started pre-season training at Rapid Vienna Nikica Jelavić it is then. Interesting to see if he is gonna play alongside Niko or instead of. Just watched a hat-trick of his on youtube and he seems to have an interesting Luis Garcia style sucking his thumb goal celebration.
unclejack28 Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 I believe they have started pre-season training at Rapid Vienna Christopher Trimmel? Rene Gartler ? ,Nikica Jelavic? , Hamdi Salihi(the only one id be looking at and maybe trimmel)
Kelbo Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Christopher Trimmel? Rene Gartler ? ,Nikica Jelavic? , Hamdi Salihi(the only one id be looking at and maybe trimmel) Jelovic has a poor scoring record and was sub 9 times last year
