Its starting to get depressing now.......Even Bolton are signing decent players.

On the upside ive heard the Take-over has gone one step further in the last couple days.....not sure how but some progress is being made (at last)

Nothing wrong with looking at young players, whatever their position - you can never have too many good young players.

He might turn out to be rubbish of course, but there is no harm in looking.

Agree with you. I don't even think signing Righters was a bad move, it was just a low cost risk that didn't pay off.

Interesting news and from what I've seen wouldn't be too disappointing at all

http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/fifa-world-cup/all-whites/3868852/Reid-tipped-to-join-Nelsen-at-Blackburn

We've lots of centre halves at the moment. Our budget wont stretch to many luxuries so would this guy replace Nelsen or one of the others?

If this is some initiative cooked up by SA, JW and Nelsen to capture rising talent in NZ for BRFC then I'm all for it. It could be quite a lucrative retirement option for Nelsen. I had similar hopes that BRFC could do similar in the US with Brad's football school but that never happened unfortunately.

What is laughable is that Annan is 5 foot 9, the great Makelele whose impact on the modern game led to a position being named after him was only 5 foot 7. Holding midfielders don't need to be tall.

Correct. How tall was Tugay ffs? Berkovitz too was tiny and those are the two most talented midfielders that we have had in recent years. McKinley too was small and Dunn's not tall either.

The disastrous appointment of Paul Ince continues to plague us.

I'd imagine that Williams pride will not allow him to consult me directly again next time we need a new manager..... but I bet he spends some time logged on here before committing to a new manager in the future. What do you reckon Lee? ;)^_^

The first time I heard of this Araujo kid was here.

I checked a portuguese website and he only played 1 game in 2007/08 and 2 games in 2008/09. I have no idea why.

Anyway, he went back to Bahia this season.

Nothing wrong with trials, maybe a good player can be found. But I doubt it in this case.

Wasn't the player supposed to be at pre-season training with his club? And Rennes paid €8M for Gyan 2 years ago, so his price would be over £10M now. Which would be a tiny bit too expensive for us.

I can't see it being Gyan, his price is going to be at least £8 million plus wages, that will put him out of our range.

Any news on the future of KP Boateng?

Portsmouth after £5.5 million,4 Serie A and 3 German showing an interest. Not sure of English clubs interested.Must be some though.

The Araujo guy doesn't hold a EU passport,so how would you get a work permit for him?.

Rennes want £10-12 million for Gyan,They paid Udinese £5 million + add ons when they signed him.

MICHAEL JOHNSON...

Not to mention his awful injury problems. No point looking at him. Weiss or Ireland would be better options although I imagine Ireland would cost a bit and there would be other clubs in for him if he were available.

Schocking transfer in Portugal!!

Joao Moutinho to FC Porto from rivals Sporting Lisbon.

5 year deal with no money being mentioned yet but, if the tradition continues, it will be for less money expected and Sporting will take some poor playuers for FC Porto.

If the striker is currently in pre-season training with his club, we can rule out Benjani as he has been released by City. Phew.

I had applied the same logic to Asamoah Gyan - I doubt he's back to pre-season training already somehow. Penalty practice on the other hand......

I believe they gave started pre-season training at Rapid Vienna ;)

Nikica Jelavić it is then. Interesting to see if he is gonna play alongside Niko or instead of.

Just watched a hat-trick of his on youtube and he seems to have an interesting Luis Garcia style sucking his thumb goal celebration.
