Sousa and his sidekicks link him with every job going. I would think Fulham could do better than him.

Cheers Nicko just thought id check as a mate of mine is a fulham fan and heard it...would have been down betfred in the morning. haha.

Do clubs really think that putting stories in papers will prompt others into action?

I've no idea how it works but I assumed there was an "inside" track where club officials/agents would be well aware of where most players were going and who was interested in them?

You bet they do.

England is especially bad with it being an agent controlled environment.

There's nothing to be spent at the moment pending the outcome of the takeover.

That's one of the reasons why the manager took his extended 'break' in Dubai...he is fed up about chasing targets he can't land.

Does the board and owners not understand that we are missing out on players we should be signing. What is going to happen if the takeover doesnt happen before August? we need a striker because we only got 2 strikers at the minute. Big Sam can't be happy with whats going on at the club. he's been through this before at Newcastle and it wreck he's transfer targets. And had to sign players who weren't his first choices. The board should allow Big Sam to sign the striker he wants right now.

I do agree, however wouldnt the terms of the sale change if the club spent money?

£25,000,000 plus debts of say £29,000,000 may suddenly become £25,000,000 plus £38,000 debts??

Thatt changes things somewhat and could hamper the sale!!

I can see where you're coming from but surely Sam's targets - pre-takeover - will be cheaper than those that the new regime would be expected to fund once in place?

Also, not strengthening the side might reduce the value of the club being purchased - which is no good for anyone!

I dont think that there is anyone at the club who doesnt realise that the side needs strengthening. But their hands are tied. If this gets sorted in the next couple of weeks then that should leave a decent month or so to spend hopefully a relatively large amount of cash.

There is no point in complaining about this, the club needs to secure its financial future before anything else takes place. Long term, we needed a take over to happen and now its happening. Bad timing but still.

Id rather we go through this process properly then rush it just so that we can get one or two extra faces through the door.

I have to agree with Kelbo. Our wage budget is 90% of turnover and can't really accommodate much more. If we do go and sign a player now and then get say 10 million from the takeover, regardless of what we do we'll only push it higher up and most likely over budget.

We've already got a few players who we don't need and if we go out and sign players now, before we get taken over we'll only most likely end up with a player we wouldn't have signed if we had more money. The down side is that if it all goes pear shaped we will have missed out on players who we could have signed. We've never gambled over money and its stood us in good stead to date, we just have to hope that because the club have placed a self imposed embargo on transfers that they must be confident that we'll come out of this better of funds wise.

I know most on here don't seem to like the loan system, but perhaps we could get in a couple of decent young players at this moment in time to give us some more depth. At the very worst we'd only have to carry them till January and could maybe even do it before should the contract allow (I doubt teams would go for it but you never know). Not an ideal situation but at least we wouldn't be burdened with them for years.

I agree totally - at this moment (on the balance sheet) the £2.5m "spare" will actually be going towards the debts we have. Could it be that the purchase is far more advanced than we could imagine ?

It's not just us who don't like loans. Our manager has said it's not a route he doesn't want to go down again. He might end up doing it if it's the only business he can do, but i don't think he'll be rushing into it before he sees how things pan out.

Well I dont know about anybody else but im absolutely gutted that Kris Boyd has seemingly all but agreed to join Middlesbrough, it speaks volumes for our club at this minute in time, okay fair point he has only been a goal freak in Scotland but he his worth a punt for wages alone surely. Gonna get me hard earnt pennies on Boro coming back up me thinks.

I can tell you catergorically that 3 players wanted Ewood moves but thanks to the finances we have failed to get them.

If I was Sam I would of stayed on Holiday being around transfer market failings like these cant be good for his ticker.

What happened to the 17 year-old Brazilian that impressed on trial last year? Did we ever sign him? I think he played somewhere in eastern Europe...

I guess he's still at MFK Kosice. There's a little story about him from Feb.

Edit: Google translator:

Although initially part of the reserves, Dionatan was becoming increasingly likely among the holders of Košice, always with good performances, which eventually caught the attention of scouts from bigger name teams in Europe. In early 2009 he was called to conduct tests in Newcastle. So pleased that the technical committee of the Magpies decided not to waste time and immediately close the purchase of the Brazilian at the club in Slovakia. However, bureaucratic problems of the athlete's record prevented the revenge business.

Moreover, the impact of Dionatan the rest of the continent was already done. Soon, Manchester City, Middlesbrough and Blackburn have also tried hiring the Brazilian defender. In the end, Rovers were left with the preference of the athlete. But when Dionatan had passed all tests and was about to wear the shirt of the English club, his work permit was denied, forcing the athlete to return to MFK Košice again.

The guy won't run the length of himself and certainly wouldn't fit in our 4-5-1 formation. He does absolutely no chasing down at all or running the channels. He's not good enough to retain possession and wait for our midfield to arrive from Robbo's punts. We don't exactly create bundles of chances either. He may well do ok in the Championship with a relatively decent side for that league, but for us - no thanks. As someone said, he's at his level now. I've seen quite a bit of him, and a worse forward for our style of side I would struggle to think of, free or not.

ive actually no idea, who we can buy with 0 pounds. wages might be a big problem, but a loan move for Schevchenko wouldnt be bad. a striker with lots to prove, and would be under no pressure at Rovers. its a stupid suggestion i know, but right know im terrified hearing of names like Nugent and Benjani. anyway, with takeover talks any move for any player will not happen.
