Now please don't slate me for this it is just an idea watching tonight's Spain/Germany game prob. after the takeover how about the former Man Utd man Gerard Pique. He could play anywhere across the back, is tall, also can play the holding midfield role. 23, still young, so would improve with age. Obviously would command a fee but maybe a player we could get after the takeover. What does everyone think?. Most importantly is 6'3" so almost as big as our big Chris so I think it be a good addition at both ends of the pitch. Also another good one to go for after the takeover would be either Podolski/Klose both goalscorers but all really depends when the takeover goes through.

Rooney or Saurez would be a better option up top. ;)

Prefixing with "don't slate me" can't make you exempt from writing nonsense!

It doesn't matter who takes us over, we're NEVER going to be in a position to sign one of Barcelona's best defenders.

Consider yourself slated! :P

He would command at least £20 mill after establishing himself as a first teamer for both Barca and Spain...

Probably the best CB in the world atm with Lucio. A fee of closer to 40 million would probably be closer.

I do wonder if some people actually watch football? Elia and Pique have been mentioned on the last couple of pages!

I prefer the Benjani,Beattie talk!

I would not touch Rooney, or any other of the "golden generation" with a 10 meter pole. And I'm being completely serious. Roberts may be unable to hit a barn door, but he has more guts and determination than those mammas boys will ever dream of having.

Something was undoubtedly wrong with Rooney at the WC, whether it was injury or something else. But to suggest he has no guts or determination is madness. He's one of the most determined players in the Premier League. Are you sure you aren't confusing him with the lanky Bulgarian chap he plays with who wouldn't move quickly if his house was burning down around him?
