RoversSG Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 2 articles in teamtalk today: http://www.teamtalk.com/premier-league/6252400/Black-Cats-agree-to-sell-Cana-to-Gala Looks like Gala won't be back for Grella. http://www.teamtalk.com/blackburn-rovers/6252653/Ledley-continues-Hoops-discussions £25,000 per week! I think even £15,000 is too much! We dodged a bullet there.
Guest Kamy100 Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 The Lancashire Telegraph reports that Rovers are lining up a double swoop for Mexican World Cup stars Giovanni Dos Santos and Andreas Gouarado.

Either would be a good signing. Big Sam might be looking at these because the takeover is close to happening! Both have got pace and are skillful wingers.

PAFELL Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 The Lancashire Telegraph reports that Rovers are lining up a double swoop for Mexican World Cup stars Giovanni Dos Santos and Andreas Gouarado. Strange really considering it is common knowledge that until the takeover saga is done and dusted, all transfers are on hold.
alexanders Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Finally some really exciting news. Was very impressed with both Guardado and Dos Santos in the WC. Would be great players who would make us able to play the much used 4-2-3-1 formation.
Iceman Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Bloody hell, the headline is massive in the sun, and then you read a little piece about us wanting to sign Giovanni dos Santos I would be happy with both Mexican players, Dos Santos especially, because he is young and deffinately has the potential to do well.

Guardado is only 23 years old. If anyone have more of a clue than me; I thought I saw Guardado playing the central midfield role in the WC, but wiki says he is a left winger.
bellamy11 Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Guardado is only 23 years old. If anyone have more of a clue than me; I thought I saw Guardado playing the central midfield role in the WC, but wiki says he is a left winger. I think he started out at a left wing-back/on the left hand side of Mexico's midfield 5 but has advanced more and drifted inside as he has got older. I'd be delighted if we got these two in - very surprised though - surely they'd both command fees of at least a few million?
John Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Presume the Mexican players would both be free transfers hence our interest in them?
Manchester Blue Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 I guess before the World Cup we'd have picked up Geovanni for next to nothing but he showed what he can do so i'd expect him to cost a bit now and would be very pleasantly surprised if true. A few years ago i'd have put money on him making a bigger impression than Bojan when they were squad players at Barca. My only worry would be how suited he is to the Prem but he is an excellent player.
Bobby G Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Guardado was voted best player in La Liga outside the "Top 4" and is rated in the 10m Euro range. Dos Santos, well Spurs said, they are happy he had a good WC cause he price is jumping up. Cant see it happening for less than 5m Pounds. Unless the take-over is happening, how the hell are we linked with these two? PS. Guardado is a left sided player, but Aguirre didnt want him in the front 3 so he played him as the left sided player in the 3 in midfield.
Majiball Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Hang on didn't the LT not one week ago say that we wouldn't be signing anyone till after the take-rover was completed?? Whilst those do would be welcome additions to the squad, I also thought we were after a striker first and neither of them are. Bobby G's right Guardado would cost serious money and is very highly rated in Spain. Spurs won't let Dos Santos leave on the cheap either, maybe on loan? If we can't afford That Polish chap, how the hell do we afford these two??? I can only assume Sam took Roberto's bets on those managers and we've increased our funds.
philipl Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Have to say that LT article is as far fetched as the oft-repeated suggestion Rovers are doing nothing in the transfer market at present. Spurs are in deadly earnest about getting a massive transfer fee for Dos Santos by the way and that means the only time a reduced fee might be negotiable is around 31 August.
Hughesy Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 The Lancashire Telegraph reports that Rovers are lining up a double swoop for Mexican World Cup stars Giovanni Dos Santos and Andreas Gouarado. No they didnt... They said they had an interest in both but Gourando will be too expensive. We have however made enquiries about Dos Santos & are considering the option of taking him on loan. Id be well happy with Dos Santos as our striker signing, he did very well in the World Cup and holds up a ball remarkabley well for his size.

Id be well happy with Dos Santos as our striker signing, he did very well in the World Cup and holds up a ball remarkabley well for his size. He may hold the ball up well, but if its coming at him from a great height I doubt he'd win it, to hold it. I could see him being played on the right pushing up to support the front man when needed. He wouldn't solve the striker issue. Whats the point in Guardado part then. NEWS FLASH: Rovers have an interest in signing Torres from Liverpool, unfortunately he neither wants to come nor can we afford him.

Come on we dont play our entire game in the air....yes long kicks from Robbo we do, but the rest we dont... many a time last season we had players running with the ball. Kalinic would benefit from Dos Santos' ability im sure. Fed up of listening to all this we only play long ball nonesense - its like reading the sun or something!
RoyRover Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 I'd be delighted if we signed Dos Santos on loan. I thought he had an excellent World Cup. He wouldn't solve our striker crisis, but he would add a much needed creative factor to our team. If we got him on loan with a future option to buy, that would give us the chance to still buy a striker.
alexanders Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 We would pløay like this: Dos Santos - Kalinic - Olsson 4-3-3. 4-5-1 when defending.
Majiball Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Come on we dont play our entire game in the air....yes long kicks from Robbo we do, but the rest we dont... many a time last season we had players running with the ball. So we never played 2-3 short passes and then launch it in the strikers direction??? Hughesy we play kick and rush to an extreme, yes we don't always do it, but in the main we do especially away from home. It got better towards the tail end at times, but if you can't see it????? Dos Santos is as suited to playing the striker role for us as I am to politics. He'd have to play on the right, otherwise your dropping Dunn. And if I'm being honest we have Diouf and Hoillet for that role already, unless some mug comes along and takes Diouf of our hands I don't see the point in him as we don't play with 2 up top.
LeChuck Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Dos Santos? PLEASE SAM, PLEASE. We desperately need someone like him to make the 4-3-3 formation work, he's the perfect wide striker for us. Whether we can get him or not though...I'm not sure. I imagine there will plenty of interest from the likes of Spain.
Ozz Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 I imagine there will plenty of interest from the likes of Spain. He can't be transferred from Spurs to Spain, just other club sides.
